Is it possible to change the scaffolding, cranes and props that appear when an RCI is under construction? It's the one thing I noticed when looking at screenshots.

Looking at the screen shots, I don't like how everything looks like its industry. Or maybe it is actually, I can't really tell.

Hi,

Well I was reading this fourm I found it very intresting that sims could live in "!mars!" and I plan to make some B.A.T for this project

A park will be out by some days on stex with is inside a globe (no air in mars) and its nice from my opnion its erally nice!

If anyone is still around-

Is there any interest whatsoever in continuing this?

How many founding members remain?

We need a list of all of the team leaders and major contributors and they need to be contacted to figure out whether or not they wish to continue in this project. 

We need Orishavit to get back to the website and reset all of our project management stuff and/or give the passwords to the new webmaster (whoever is decided).

We also need everyone who reads this who was on SM staff or wishes to become a member of the SM staff to go and make a post in the "Check up" thread under "SimMars Project" in the Staff Forum.

That is all.

well i was intrested in this project since we it was a simple idea....anyway im trying to fix the bux (no one knows) and some models as well...

so u can count on me for anything (possible)

I've been meaning on making a quick set of buildings for the project, since I never actually contributed anything (as animaster887), but I keep on getting sidetracked.  I'm actually good at BATing now, lol, so I should be able to make something worthwhile.

But idk if SimMars will ever be finished anyway, so I don't know if I should spend the time.

I am producing SimMars-sort-of-BATs on regular basis and the entire Star League members have some connections with Sim Mars through their CJs.

In addition to the previous version of SimMars, if we get a list of usable buildings, it will help a lot. People are just getting put off from usable in SimMars BAT hunting!

i want simmars to continue but to tell the truth i wasn't too impressed so far with the project, it seemed to lak uniquness, i wanted to see more orignal items. especially transportation

Something like Aerotube Express I did in SC3KU? There, I am thinking of something.... I don't know how to MOD, but if I could get touch with APTX, I could do it.....

    Well welcome back General Gunfire. I'm not sure if you have read the sticky threads, you should have a look on them. Finishing up BETA 2 is the current focus, there havn't been many old staff members around. In recent months we had couple of new people contributing. for instance karaku did lots of modding, Rob Astor has submitted a whole portfolio of amazing songs, and I have worked with several ST users to get modding done for BETA 2, DuskTrooper has shared a mod that disables all MAXIS buildings from growing, a milestone for us. Have a look on the sticky threads for more.

    I strongly feel, the project "appears dead" because there hasn't been any active recruitment done. I am very happy to do that, as Sim Mars and Star League share common interest.

    One thing I'd like to know...whats left to do in this project, what is currently in this(lots and B.A.T.s) and who's currently on this project...

    I remember this project back in 2004 when I registered...I'd hate to see it die :'(

    Thanks for the info, andi. I had no idea whether those threads had ever been updated. I thought things were long dead!

    Until we hear from anyone else (with the permission of andisart, of course), I'll take over control of the website team. I do need to find someone from SimVision, though, to get info on how to edit the stuff. I don't have any usernames or passwords or anything for the FTP. All I have is an admin account at the forum, which obviously isn't enough.

    But what in the world can we do to harbor more interest like we once had?

    Apparently, The Planning Pages is getting a MOD squad. I can ask them for some help as they are willing to do stuff for Star League too.

    For Star League, I am preparing an information package called "Sci Fi CJ Starter's Package", which will include Sim Mars. For custom contents in general, I think joint productions with other BAT teams is the way. BSC is quite promising. One example of this is what URSC did with Star League - my earlier BAT, Yarkozvezda Pyervaya was a SimMars skyscraper. I changed the window texture from orange to blue, rendered another one and it was the URSC HQ on Earth. Asking BATers to change the texture of existing building and turning it into SimMars would work. If we get massive influx of BATs for Sim Mars, the release of BETA-2 becomes closer.

    When SimMars was attracting a lot of attention, there weren't that many scifi/futuristic BATs available. So, it was natural that people turn to SimMars for SciFi taste. But now, there are a lot around. But, this means, if Sim Mars does something to somehow include all those SciFi BATs produced, (make a BAT list? re-LOT and MOD?) Sim Mars can get sudden surge in quality scifi tiles with relatively little effort.

    We have a problem... unless someone can manage to find Orishavit, I have no way of editing the website in any way except administration on the forums. And even there, I'm limited because he put himself in the root admin group and took me and the other admins out.

    Try to find Ori if you can!

    I am doing BAT, but seriously missing MODer, LOTer and promotion officer...

    So, for BATs, I think Sim Mars should

    1. Take advantage of existing Sci-Fi BATs

    2. Ask around BATers to create orange window version of previously BATed buidlings.

    @2ch: Good ideas in your earlier post! Changing the textures is sure a quick way to get new BAT, also it's really easy to modify little details or add a little extra and you will get a completely different look. For using existing BAT they should fit in the concept of SimMars though.

    @General Gunfire: We might actually attract more interest here over at ST than on a seperate website. TWe have most of the files from the webcollab.

    I think maybe we should just release BETA 2 the way it is right now, it's a definit improvement to BETA 1 already and it will give a much more SimMars gameplay feeling since many MAXIS features are turned off. I suggest that as soon as I get my PC back from Germany (I moved to Ireland) we can start testing what we have so far and put it into an installer. I'm sure the release will attract attention.

    First off, I'm happy this project didn't die completely.

    Last year I have modded a few buildings by Simgoober for Simmars. I have no idea if they ever arrived. I think Lynks (pmiller) was moving them around.

    I still have them on my machine if you need them. And if you need my further help in modding, I'd be happy to do that. I can only mod and lot buildings though, no transit modding or such.

    And I'm quite sure that other BSC members would be willing to help too. There's only one point. We work over at SC4 Devotion. So just bring it over and I'm sure you will get attention.

    @bongoswimp: I send you my eMail as PM, please send your files and I will take a look at them as soon as I get my computer back. Modding help would be great, the most crucial at the moment are: replacing trees with rocks, disabling people animations and programming the installer. I will make a visit to SC4 Devotion.
