i love the new mega prop packs and thought of something.  i read a post a while back that had a pic of all the props that create light (and if anyone else knows what i am talking about, please help me refind that thread) and thought that something similar for the prop packs would be cool.

basically i was thinking a screenshot of all the props contained in a pack, like the stex pic, but better.  maybe the props are named, maybe not, depending on the effort you want to use.  but a thread with pics of the prop packs contents would be a very cool resource. 

 i use the prop viewer tool from the modding section to see what is in each pack, but think this is still a good idea and one could see more at a glance.

Generally, when the individual prop packs are uploaded, there is a picture of at least most of the props included.  For the Mega Packs, we did not do this, as there are just too many, and did not commit the time it would take to sort this out.

maybe mentioning the mega packs was incorrect.  i was thinking more along the lines of the individual prop pack, say BSC BAT Props SG Vol01.dat and a pic to show what is in it. heck, if you already have servicable pics used for stex, then that woudlbe less work.  i know you used to do test lots, just a pic like that.

Would somebody mind telling me where I can get more of the textures that can be used in the BAT.  I have the files that Phillippbo used in his tutorial, but I would like to get some more texture files so that my buildings don't have to be textured the same way as the building in Phillipbo's tutorial.  Thanks.

I did like you said and searched Google.  I think I found a good place to start looking, but just in case your interested, Simtropolis.com was at the top of the first page.  As for Photoshop, is there a free mini-version, or will I have to pay.  I have noticed people talking about Photoshop elements and I am curious as to what that is.
 
Also, out of curiousity, what is the BSC?

The BSC and NDEX and CSX and many other groups are basicly a bunch of people who make bats and props and maps......

Also is photoshop free?Please say yes....

I am having big texture problems with  my farms. I have the mega pack and the older BSG packs as well. What am I missing?

I am missing the path (I have dirt path pack) and the ground textures

Here I dont know why I have some ground textures and not others.

I do not know why you are missing some textures on the fields as they all use the same base texture. Maybe simgoober can help here.

The lot you show in the top picture is missing its farmhouse. The model for this is here: SG_Homes_SwedishVillas . The textures are a set of gravel textues by deadwoods and I cannot find where they are on the STEX at the moment. I will add them to the farm that will be uploaded this weekend unless I find which lot or pack they are in. Sorry about that. I used the textures by accident as I normally would not use textures I cannot reference.

what prop packs are only used offically by bsc new farms? i am not talking about the prop packs that are used for multiple lots, but the files that are only used when the farms are present.  

i am trying to remove rural plugins when i play urban cities and vice versa.

    @Vadvaro  I wouldn't delete any 20.gif
     
    keep the dependicies you have (look for duplicates maybe if you opt for the mega packs), but just leave them there.29.gif 
     
    Specially if you been able to manage them properly too...34.gif
     
    Just remove the non-farm reward farm buildings from the plugin folder so they won't grow.44.gif
     
    Save the lot/bats in a temp folder somewhere for safe keeping. Specially if you have a few that work properly on your system already. Never know when you want to play with them again or keep an older city the way it is. 36.gif

    oh, i am not deleting anything that i still intend on using.  i am just moving the files back and forth as i use different lots and cities. i have seperated all my lots into rural, suburban, urban, general and coastal subfolders, and mix and match in my plugin folder for the city i am working on. 

    i just wanted to know what prop packs were used exclusivly by the farm project.  what about the essentials? i have looked a few and they appear to only contain ui files.

    You know, this thread would be the best place to list all of BSC's textures and prop packs, so we can go through them systematically, rather than looking all over through the readmes. That would be a very good idea (the list could be put in the first post, which is Vlakhaas' post)

    i can't get the prop family names dat to work, so if it isn't too much trouble, how about a listing of the BSC prop family numbers?  is there a thread for this already? is there a way for me to extract the info i need from the reader? i can see how the file should work, but can't figure out why it doesn't.

    If you want to have different settings / plugin environments for different cities create different users under win2k / winxp. Then login as administrator and copy the files you want to the new user. Just be careful to set the user rights correctly (the new user should have full access to all the files as you copy them into its directory).

    You may thus copy/move the region inbetween the users.

    It sounds / is a bit complicated and uses quite some hard disk space but this way you don't have to mess with your prop folder (mine is NOW 60 mb and increasing ...)

    There's a freeware called The Gimp go there : http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

    Read about it, and if this suit you just follow the download links. This software does the same thing Photoshop does, but without the bells and whistles!

     
    And BTW Photoshop Element is good buy for your buck!

    @Vad. : The prop family names (Families named in the LE?) is a creation of GrampaAl, and he's the one doing most with it.  If you need more assistance with it I would give him a PM.  I think he's not quite as active as he once was, so it may take a while for him to answer.. or it could be 5 minutes... 3.gif

    I just read dev's thread, and I thought since his thread is closed, i'd post here-

     
    concerning textures, the BSC lots have some very stange problems, I've downloaded EVERY texture pack, but still I always find that lots are missing basetextures, and that every one of simgoobers lots are missing the parking lot textures. (simgoober, this isn't an insult or calling you out, I'm just saying that your lots are always missing textures.)
     
    personally i think you should include the dependancy files in the lots that use them. If this means you can't use the installers, then IMO you should stop using them. it seems prety self-explanitory but the installers give someone less options, and it takes longer to install the files that to drag and drop.
     
    Again, this isn't an attack on the BSC, It is just a suggestion on how to make the process of handling dependacis more efficient.

    ran into the same promblem with goobers lots. As I went the opposite way...cleared my plugin folder completely and started at square 1 wih the mega packs.

     
    the mega prop packs include the props...not the textures (currently have all of goobers growable RCI buildings working...haven't checked any rewards yet)
     
    so check the readme files for which texture packs are needed 37.gif    there aren't as many of them.......think it was peg's texture underlay pack that i was missing personelly...poped it in and all the parking lots appeared normally...29.gif
     
     
    I like the installers for the props and textures (though at first i was a little scared to use a third party .exe file) ...for me dependancies  are hidden files as I don't make lots/bats having the dependancies for the most part set by the ppl whom make the lots saves a lot of trouble IMO
     
    the installers for the buildings I'm not to keen on...but myself...i install them...go in to the plugins find the files and put them into my own filing system 16.gif

    vadvaro: I know GrampaAl is away until the 4th June at least and will probably not have access to the Internet so you may need to be patient.

    Tunafish: the question of simgoober's parking lot textures has been answered many times; both in his thread and in comments on his lots.

    Hello,

    Having downloaded the megapacks lately in replacement to what i had, i get two strange problems:
     
    1. Depending on the sight angle one of your props is showing missing (you know the brown box), i think its a red & white cart/parasol thingy in the lemon stand extra lot (the 1x2 or 1x3 reward- i'm not at home so i can't chek right now)
    2. Depending on zoom level some of your farms have a texture at their entrance that changes from a dirt road to an asphalt road.
     
    This is odd as sometimes they show sometimes they don't, and since they do show sometimes, i necesserely have the prop or texture in question.
     
    Do you guys & gals have any clue why it might happen

    I am having trouble with the new CSX Farm Sweet Lelanie.    Despite carefully checking all the listed dependencies in the Readme, I seem to be missing the main farmhouse, as shown.   Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
