That's very impressive, TJD.  My terraforming skills are...lacking, shall we say.  Very impressive.

I've started laying out the city...It will be hard to make it look exact with all buildings in place. Also certain roads in Edmonton dont always follow 45 or 90 degree angles...So trying to make an Avenue over a long stretch at 60 deegrees while lining it with buildings and connected roads is proving hard. And since my challenge is the exact look of the city I may use some cheats...Most of Edmontons power is from 80km away...so how do I power every city with no plants? Maybe the power cheat we'll see. Might need to make the odd lot too. West Ed should be fun...at around 40 by 25 squares. I wish I had a plop mod that included the euro set. Now the good pics begin as I build the city a bit at a time. Thanks for keeping posted and for all the interest in just one day of the region being released. Remeber if you'd like the map to MSN me, add me as a contact...my address is above @ the map post.

Sorry for the delay on updates....I never give up on a region. But this one being to scale takes alot of effort. To lay every road I need to messure it on a map and then figure it out to the scale. I've started the londonderry area and is going well.
Also I'm working on 5 regions at once, work has been very busy, and I have a 4month old son who is started to love attention 2.gif. The updates are coming this region will grow in spurts..During the terraforming alone I took over a month off from anywork at all. I should do some of the major roads in Edmonton then show a regional map within the next while...Again sorry for the delays and keep posted.11.gif

Is there any chance we can get our hands on a non-populated version of your region? Very few regions have made my jaw drop when I see them, but yours certainly does.6.gif

You can get a copy of this region by MSN'ing me. I have shared it with 20 or so people so far. Its zipped by Winrar and  takes about 10minutes on avergae to transfer. The region is set to go every city is properly named and set for medium diff level.

Londonderry looks great, I can't wait to a city overview shot.  When recreating a city, I found it best to lay out the major roads and freeways before zoning and adding utilities.  It requires you to edit the simoleon values with an external real-time editor (I use Cheat Engine), for me this eliminates the scale problems from one city to the next.  Just my $.02, after trying to recreate San Francisco a few times before I am getting the hang of it.

Since you live in Edmonton, are you recreating it from memory of driving/living there or are you using a map to lay out the transportation?  144th looks real cool the way it bends to the right gradually before it gets to 66th, then straightens out on the other side before veering left.

I cant do every road by memory. So I'm using a map. And every road is an exact scale distance from eachother. Everything is to scale thats why it takes so long to do this map. The outer areas with curved roads are hardest.11.gif
But I plan on doing the major roads first while laying parks and stuff first11.gif.
Also I dumped the plop mod which was ruining my game so any growth will be random for now. Hard to get an exact look.11.gif

I might be a little late to the party, but: Wow, thats awesome Jersey!
I live in St.Albert (up in the NW corner there), so its really cool to see someone taking the time and effort to recreate the capital region 1.gif
I don't know how on earth anyone could recreate St. Albert itself though. The city was settled by the french, so there isn't a single straight road in the whole place! 22.gif
Seriously though, recreating St. Albert would be insane!

Anywho, good luck with the project! 1.gif

Heres a pic of 2hrs work I did tonight. Just getting a lay of some of the major roads in N.Edmonton. Also I did alot of work on the Yellowhead underpasses. I have a few great Ideas to make the overpasses over the freeway look right. The major interchanges are hard to make look right but the way I'm doing it should surprise some. Heres a map of the major roads so far.11.gif

This is some of the work I've done so far on the North Side of Edmonton. Some of these points are noticable landmarks and some are just random point to show my work so far.11.gif
