I think he means reducing the highways down to avenues for the intersections. That is a good point though. I mean, I know Edmonton's traffic network is pretty much crap, and that most of our major arteries have intersections every 50 feet, but not the Yellowhead (in screenshots). Its pretty much a shoe-in for a ground level highway with overpasses. Actually its kind of fun to drive on, because you're always going up and down and around little bends, with other roads flying overtop. There are a couple of stupid intersections like that (124th st and Yellowhead, anyone?) along its path, but for the most part its a fairly decent, small city freeway. Now if he was doing something like St.Albert trail... that thing is a friggin mess! The only place it DOESN'T have a set of lights is when it passes over the Yellowhead! And for some stupid reason, they put in another set of lights at that new mall on 137th ave and the Trail. So now there are like 3 traffic lights in like two blocks! ARRRGH!! In the immortal words of Ren: YOU IIIIIIDIOTS!! Seriously though, I wish we actually had competant transit designers in Edmonton. They shoulda stolen whoever did Calgary. The Deerfoot may be a little dangerous, but at least you can get somewhere on it! Ah well, hopefully things will be better whenever they get around to finishing Ring Road

Dunno why everyone else is so turned off, but personally I love these demon lots. Theyre awesome for adding to that "grubby hellhole" feel of an industrial town or a crime-laden slum. C'mon people, not every city is a utopia. Rip the place up a little, sell your soul for power! Trust me, its fun! ;)

Heh, I remember when someone got bounced off a truck and crashed into Beachmont cemetary a few years ago... wiped out like 60 feet of fence on the north end. So they replaced that chunk with a different style of fence, and made it look goofy

I wanna know how you: A) Find the time to build something like that B) Deal with the stupid amounts of traffic skyscrapers always bring and C) Where the heck you actually find enough Co$$$ demand to get them to build all that!

Here's a quick night shot of my regional commercial center under construction: Aurora Island. Well, part of Aurora Island anyways . I've been busy building up the surrounding areas in an attempt to spike my commercial demand, so I don't have a whole lot of offices yet (though I do have a nice little cluster of residential hi-rises in the bottom left corner. Res population is around 100k, Commercial is something like 160k ). I think it'll look nice with a little more time. Traffic is gonna be a problem though. Always has been in this city.
