This might or might not apply to you, but if you're using a browser other than Internet Exploder, you can't download lots fron the EA site. They use Active X controls to send the lot directly to your plugins folder. Firefox, Opera, and others don't support Active X cause of the security problems around it. I use Firefox, aqnd I installed an extension that allows me to right click and choose to open the target in IE. However I don't go there anymore cause I never find anything worthwile that aint already on the STEX.

cynthia, those files comprise pretty much the whole game. If you can't get those files off the CDROM, that's almost the entire contents of the CDROM anyway. You'll have to purchase the game again. None of those files are downloadable. Sorry.

As for the EA web site, the only file you really need off of there is the final patch which was released with BAT. It enables the nightlights to work on custom buildings. I wish this file was available elsewhere for download but it isn't. Alas, I've looked everywhere on all the gaming sites that distribute game patches. My buildings will remain dark because EA has effectively ended support for SC4. So if you live in a different country, got a serial number that's not in the [outdated] website database, or have some other registration issue, then you're just screwed until someone gets the balls to redistribute that patch file.

I don't see what the problem is with redistributing that patch anyway. All the other SC4 patches are freely available. The only people that can use the nightlights patch are people that own a CD, and the only way you can own a CD is by owning the game.

I really don't understand how keeping my buildings dark at night helps to combat software piracy, but if EA says it, then it must be true!

I have a problem registrating my sim city 4 DELUXE EDITION. ok when im trying to ergistrate it it apperars that
1) in the countrys part it doesent appear colombia (i boaght the game in USA)
2) colombia doesent have zip code.. and i dont know any zip code, hmmmm...
3)ok then i can guess any zip code and then it appears a sign that says problems sending ur information, try later... i try later and the same thing appears...

what should i do ????

Warning!!! I just tried to email EA about not getting an activation email, and instead, I got an email back from AOL. It turns out the email address in invalid. I really want the B.A.T. but because they're so terrible over there, I never got my email. Help!

I've also tried several different methods of contacting them, all for not.  I guess I just have to live without the buildings props and all the great BAT's that require them.

Well, stealing codes from other users of the game might not be appropriate. But most e-mail providers can allow you not to immediately spam mail upon receipt, but to send them to another folder instead. Sometimes, some legitimate mail are mistaken by my provider as spam, so it is best to conditionally allow spam, not into your main inbox, but to another folder like 'Junk E-mail' or 'Bulk', etc.

The e-mail address posted was invalid (this thread is three years old, I am not surprised if it was changed), so I'll post the message here. Maybe someone here can help me, or provide me a way to contact EA or Maxis that isn't by fax or phone or whatever. An e-mail address. "Hello, Around three years ago I purchased SimCity 4 Deluxe Edtion. Everything was fine. A few months later I decided to register on the website. The problem I encountered was that the confirmation e-mail in order to activate your account was sent to an e-mail address that I no longer could use. At the time, I was unaware of this. The e-mail has been sitting there ever since, and because technically I am registered, the site thinks the serial number is already taken. However I cannot use my account, and I can't make another account with the same serial number. I would very much like to access the content on the website, but I can't unless I am product registered. Without a valid serial number anymore, I am unable to do that. I'd like to avoid having to pay ten dollars USD to replace it, but I'm sure technical support doesn't just hand out serial numbers. I haven't sent an e-mail before now because I did not know the address, and I tried to find help from the FAQ at EA's technical support section of their website. To no avail. My problem is rather unique. Is there anything that can be done besides having to get a new serial number, or buy the game again? If you need proof I own the game, I can provide you with the serial number that I have, even though I can't use it. Thanks." Yes, it has been three years. I never downloaded anything off simcity.com before, so I just went to try it out. I put in my CD key (which is like 3.5 years old by now) and it says that the key is either invalid or incorrect. So, I guess there's no chance I will ever get any of those downloads off their site....?

SC4 requires only a key that is on the CD case, if for any reason the case is missing it or has been lost you must contact Maxis/EA games for a new disk/code. No one here will provide the key it is against the site rules and would risk problems with EA Games and we don't want that! Go to www.simcity.com and contact them. They are real slow but usually will help.

When I started this thread, I had no idea I was part of such a huge s-o-l group.

I tried the recommended actions. Best I got was to be told that I could use the "forgot my password" route, and that it would resend my info to use.

Ummmmmm....suprise. Didn't work. EA really has some (fecal matter) to sort out in support.

Pod - that's the same thing that happened to me I'd really hate to buy Sim City again, just to download stuff off of their site, but I don't really think there's any other choice here.

Just an update - I asked for help on EA's tech support website (techsupport.ea.com) and submitted a query for help...they answered in half a day, asked for my serial number and some personal info, then within another half day, they closed and re-opened my account. I could then re-register, and now I have full access to all of the downloads. It was pretty damn good tech support!!

Hi, i bought the game today and installed it fine but when it came to registering the product over electronic registration it fails saying "Trouble sending registration information. You need an external connection to send this information." ***** is that about? I have also tried product registration on the simcity site but to no avail as of yet. It's ironic really, i had a pirated copy of the game but i wanted to start making my own lots and stuff so i bought the game so i could download the stuff needed from the simcity site, and for the moment i can't even do that!!! What a 1st post this has been.

Any help would be great guys.
