Jeanne Madoré: Thanks Artur. Now, we've just received word from the New Rhodesian government that they intend to cut all  political ties with the Kingdom. This unprecedented event includes "financial, political and social sanctions", as directly put by the New Rhodesian statement. We read you an excerpt .

"The Tal-Shiar recently reported that New Burgundy had begun bribing nations against New Rhodesia, in relation to the current political spat between New Rhodesia and Dominea. Going so far as to say that if "Sierrastare did not back New Burgundy's position, regarding the New Rhodesian-Dominea conflict, it would cease funding Sierrastare's improvements following the Pheonoian war""

Tal-Shiar Headquarters in New Rhodesia City

Jeanne : We expect Sierrastare to also respond with sanctions, although *chuckling* our analyists do not think that they will be espicially effective. A much more potent and worring prospect are the New Rhodesian sanctions. As you all know the SCJU is headquarted in New Rhodesia, and the fact that New Rhodesia has cut all relations with New Burgundy  and  imposed sanctions makes it extremely difficult for our diplomats to effectively work and represent New Burgundy at the SCJU... this issue is yet to be resolved.

We know go to Henri Dikongue, who is on the streets of the capital, asking people of their thoughts about these recent developments. Henri?

Henri Dikongue: Thanks Jeanne. I've been here for the last few minutes, asking people about their thoughts about this new revelation. Let's play a few videos.

Man: Well I think this is absolutely preposterous.  Neither New Rhodesia nor Sierrastare has come out with any other evidence besides their word, and obviously I don't belive them. New Rhodesia agreed to host the SCJU Headquarters, and they, by doing that, have made themselves an international city. They can't do that, it is improper and uncondusive to the spirt of the Union.

Man: Personally I believe that we had this coming, we apparently bribed Sierrastare and tried to bribe them again, both times against New Rhodesia. We need to stop having Dominea control our politics, we are a sovereign nation and we need to act like one. I'm no big fan of the Conservatives, but Torleau fell because he differed with Dominea. If that's not vassalage, I don't know what is.

Woman: This is just outragous in my opinon. They accuse us of blackmail, god forsaken blackmail, and publicly state that they will litterally be undermining us and sabotaging us. We all need to keep an eye out. I thank Dominea for supporting us.

Henri: Well as you can see Jeanne, the people we asked all feel very stongly about this issue. A prevailing trend among the people we spoke to was that seemed to be very angry with New Rhodesia, and seemed to feel that because NR hosts the SCJU headquarters, they have a responsibilty to allow convinence for diplomats. Apparently this is not the case. We've recived a few comments on TNN.co.nb and I encourage all our viewers to post their comments online. Jeanne?

Larrimer ni Regis: Good evening Jeanne. Or as I should say good afternoon here in Valmont.

Jeanne: Larrimer, can you tell us the prevailing feeling amongst the people here in Valmont?

Larrimer: My pleasure Jeanne. Well as the viceroy has issused an arrest warrant on Lady Christina, many people have taken to the streets to protest the move. Duchess Christina as you know has worked in close collaboration with Crown Prince Alexandre on the peace deal in Pheonoia. Protests have also erupted in the cities of Rionn, where the Dukes of the Southen Marches have been traditionally seated, New Albion and Harivand

Many of the protesters are carrying blue and orange flags - blue flags with the fleur de lys is the standard of House Mellor-Iridani and orange flags representing democratic change. A large orange flag has been unfurled from the City Hall of Valmont, where Duchess Christina heads the metropolitan government.

Government, PM come out in support of Dominea

SAINT LAURENT - PRIME Minister Edouard Dontasse stated his support today at a Liberal Party luncheon, to which belongs.

"I wish to state my support for Dominea's actions in this... issue." said the PM. "I personally find New Rhodesia's request that the Dominean victims be "turned over" gives me the impression that New Rhodesia cannot distinguish between its government and that of the Union."

Foreign Minister John Bailey also commented on the issue. "New Rhodesia's request that the Domineans affected by this attack be handed over like criminals to them is utterly insensitive and frankly, arrogant."

In additon, calls have been made for the Prefet of Quienne centaine in Arpagne to resign his position for suggesting that sanctions be established if Dominea does not comply with New Rhodesia's demands.

Barraud lashes out against New Rhodesia

SAINT-DENIS - Conservative pundit Isaak-Jacques Barraud, who became known Union-wide for his fiery commentary during the Second Pheonoia War (as it is known in New Burgundy), has lashed out against New Rhodesia once more, this time its request that four Dominean representatives be sent to New Rhodesia for investigation.

"Once again, New Rhodesia has found a way to defy comprehension and common convention. They have now demanded that four victims of these atrocious attacks- once again, I insist that the destruction of the Embassy tower was an intentional and deliberate attack- be sent to NR for interrogation. This is preposterous- Tal Shiar apparently thinks it is the union's intelligence apparatus." He also brought up the issue of the Pheonoia war.

"Duchess Christina of Dominea went and negotiated for our government to back NR and President Gabrieles-is this the thanks she gets? Not that I ever supported ..., but still, Tal Shiar is not particularly known for being easy... I'd be worried if I was the Duchess, if she would ever recover after what may happen."

When later asked if he was suggesting that New Rhodesian Intelligence had a role in the tragic events, he said, "I wouldn't put it past them, but I did not intend to imply that."

PM given standing ovation in speech critical to NR

SAINT LAURENT - AT A speech given in front of the Senate today, Prime Minister Edward Dontasse was applauded loudly after delivering a speech that delivered harsh criticism to New Rhodesia's response to the previous day's events.

"New Rhodesia expects us to muzzle our citizens' rights to free speech and expression! We will not comply! The beacon of freedom and civil liberties shall always remain in New Burgundy! This institution will not stand for it!"

Sierrastare outlines the terms of so called ' ineffecive sanction'

In this Sanction Sierrastare will cut trade with New Burgundy and also will remove all stocks from their market. Companies operating in New Burgundy to provide services to the citizens will cease and move to other countries instead. Until further notice no aid will be given to NB and Citizens from New Burgundy will be immediately deported back to their respective country. To end New Burgundy is currently the poodle on Dominea's leash...Just the politcal cartoon from the Atlantian Times shows.

New Burgundy to withdraw stocks from Union Stock Exchange

SOISSON- Acting Minister of Finance Julien-Jean Taillefer announced today that all eight listed companies on the Union Stock Exchange had announced their attention to the Ministry that they wish to withdraw their listings.

"With the current political situation it is unwise to continue trading our stocks in an environment that naturally magnifies that situation," said Tribune Media Corporation CFO Vincent Courfeyrac.

In stark contrast to sharp falls at the SCJU exchanges, most stocks have stayed stable in other international exchanges, particularly Sologics (who's stock has gone considerably up), who's defence branch, Sologics Defence, secured a 7 billion unio deal with the Dominean Acleis.

Jeanne Madoré: Good evening, and I’m sorry to interrupt our regular programing for this special broadcast. We have just received a notice from the office of the Prime Minister that he will address a joint session of Parliament briefly, about five minutes from now. The subject of his address was not announced, but it is widely believed to concern recent events in the SCJU. As you all probably know, New Rhodesia has demanded that Dominea hand over four diplomats to the New Rhodesian government Maximilian Ariano, Stephan Dayos, Duchess Christina ce Mellor-Iridani and Nathan Wilks. Dominea refused to hand over the aforementioned diplomats, sparking a diplomatic conflict within the union. New Burgundy became involved when the Prime Minister stated his support for Dominea’s move and condemned New Rhodesia’s actions. A week following the New Rhodesian Intelligence Agency announced a startling revelation that our government had struck a deal with Sierrastare to give aid for political aid. We now go live to to the Senate chamber where the Prime Minister is speaking.

H.E. Edward Dontasse -ood evening. Firstly i would like to apologise for requesting Parliament to assemble on such short notice. Now to those watching at home or anywhere else in this nation or this world, the recent events in the SimCity Journal Union have concerned me and worried me greatly. Dominea, a nation we can consider one of our greatest allies, has acted in a manned which I consider unbefitting of its status as a great nation, and more importantly, a strong participant and supporter of the SCJU. The current government lead by Lord Aginor has refused to hand over the Honourable Lord Ariano, the Prefect of Far Kalast- a descion that I initially supported- to New Rhodesia. Now Dominea faces stiff sanctions and isolation from the world; and so I ask you this, respectfully, your Highness: Is handing over one man so undesirable to your government that you are willing to risk all you and your predecessors have built to keep him in Dominea?

   I remind you, Your Majesty that you are unelected, in contrast to the long-standing elective system that has existed in Dominea for nearly a thousand years, and that you must consider this in your actions. To act as a dictator is contrary to Dominea’s democratic tradition which she has established and sowed the seeds for throughout the Imperium on Aerth. I highly suggest that you hold free and fair elections as soon as is possible. I do not wish to order commands to you, Lord Aginor, but I also do not wish to see Dominea loose all it has gained in the past few years.

  

I also wish to encourage that the New Rhodesian government hand control of its investigations of the collapse of the Embassy tower to the union government, at its discretion. The collapse os the Embassy tower was a tragedy for the whole union, and I wish to see that the whole union understand what happened. On the issue of sanctions, I still stand opposed.  To take such acrtions acginst fellow mwbers of the union is detrmental to its unity, fragile and crucial at a time like this.  I also inquire why the Tribune Media Corporation, a New Burgundian company, is included in Dominean sanctions. I urge the union to pause for this moment and think through its actions.  We have weathered through much, much worse.  Why should we let this bring us down? Thank you, and I would like your attention to turn to C.D Nafmis in Valmont, our ambassador to Dominea.

Jeanne: We now go live our correspondent Larrimer ni Regis in Valmont. Larrimer?

Larrimer ni Regis: Good evening Jeanne, and Ambassador Nafmis is just about to come out and address the assembled press here at the New Burgundian Embassy here in Valmont. We’ve just been told that he will too address the recent developments at the SCJU.  It’s- well here he comes now.

C.D Nafmis: Good afternoon. I would like to state my concern for recent events in this great Viceroyalty I am proud to represent my nation to. The actions of acting viceroy Aginor I fear, jeopardise our strong relations. The arrest warrant for Duchess Christina ce Mellor-Iridani worries me greatly. Duchess Christina, whom without her help we would not be here today; has proudly served her nation in the past few years in the face of great personal adversity.  To treat such a distinguished member of Dominea in such a manner is downright disgraceful. What does this say for those who look to their nation to serve and see this in return? What message does this give to the people- both those of Dominea and the world? 

    Secondly, the present government’s insistence on refusing to hand over Lord Ariano, the Prefect of Far Kalast to the New Rhodesian authorities puzzles me. What does Dominea have to hide?

    So ends my statement. I am open for questions.

C.D. Nafmis: No, it does not. We at the embassy will continue working and operating throughout this crisis. The embassy will not close and will function normally.

Larrimer: Larrimer ni Regis, TNN News. Do you think your statement, combined with that of Prime Minister Dontasse, could possibly jeopardise relations with the current Dominean government?

C.D. Nafmis: Well I do hope and belive that this statement will resonate with Lord Aginor and his government.  Although it is obvious they may not like what I have to say, it was not my intention to pander to the government.  I represent the New Burgundian people to the Dominean people, and there it matters.
