Thank you for your comments !!! 35.gif35.gif

    Another update:

Click on the image to see it full size (hope this time it works =P)

    c36d435d.jpg

I rendered the ground just to have an idea of how it would look in game... if only the game had that resolution... =P

I'm going to light up the concrete, add some steel textures and finish up the pylons supporting the roof. After that I'm going to work on the night lights and test the station in game. I may also work on my replacement for the game's default El-train & GLR. I like some of the trains that other people have made (specially those by VesterDK) but I want to try at making my own version.

Actually, the platform colour reminds me of artificially stained concrete. The soil around here, coastal BC Canada, is grey, black or dark brown. I guess its all relative; the soil around PEI, Canada is almost red.

As for realism of the roof supports in a futuristic station, I'm all for leaving them out, but that's just me. Having said that, obstructions near (0-3m) the edge of the platform would not be a good thing.

    Nice progress!

I only wish Aspyr had included the tools for us mac users to be as creative.

    Today's update:

    583848e0.jpg

I did some testing in game and noticed that the HSR tracks are a little higher that those of the default monorail so I had to adjust the high. I was also able to recover my models and textures!!! I found a DVD that I made a while ago with a backup of all my SC stuff 35.gif35.gif

Now that I recovered my models I may release a modified version of my El-Train Station for the El-Train over Road NAM Mod.

Thank you for all your comments !!! 35.gif

Neat! It wasn't that apparent in the last version, but with your more transparent approach I noticed that you need to add some horizontal support for the glass roof, though - at the moment, the glass panes hover in mid-air more or less, only supported in a few places by some very tiny-looking vertical beams. 2.gif Maybe you can make some more pronounced vertical supports that carry two large arches on every side, where the horizontal beams for the glass panes are mounted? This would preserve the light-weight structure without destroying the look. Apart from that, great work! And if you have any modding questions (i. e. transit enabling, or how to make the glass truly transparent in the game), feel free to contact me. 4.gif

Today I have no update on the station. The roof needs a lot more work and I felt a little lazy to do it 3.gif But I did some work on another small project: A School Bus

    0604460a.jpg

I'm happy with the 3D model I made but the skin needs more details. I want to make this a replacement for SC's default school bus using the same concept I used on my city buses but with some differences in design to create more variety.  I hope you guys like it and if you have pictures of modern school buses please post them here 35.gif

    UPDATE

I couldn't sleep so I finished the skin for the bus. Here it is: (Click to see full size)

Wow, nice bus, will definately download. I think that the color is okay, but it needs red and amber lights on it, but them on the front and back of the solar/HVAC assembly.

A question concerning that station: Did you cut out the LODs so it would be possible to draw traffic networks through the empty tiles? You know, it would be t3h w00tness to have that snazzy station cross a road... 2.gif

Thank you for your comments!! 35.gif

T Wrecks: I guess it is possible to make such station. I believe there is plenty of room for a road to cross tru the station.

screamingman12: Thank you for the observation. I put the lights on the front and back on the bus. I did them based on some pictures of school buses that I found on the net.

KingTitan: I though of using the shade of yellow because is not too saturated. I haven't test the bus in game so I don't know if I may need to change the color a little bit.

I want to use this same bus model for Grey Hound buses or maybe as an additional city bus.

Here is the last render of the School Bus:

I haven't made any progress on the HSR station yet but I'll get to it soon 5.gif

    Hi!

I rarely comment in BAT threads. This is for two reasons. First, I'm not much of a BATter, so I never know what to say. Secondly, when I go into BAT threads, the feeling of "I want that now!" tends to be overwhelming. 3.gif

But I'm here in this one. 4.gif

Brenda, I have most of your stuff, if not all of it. And I love it. 9.gif I couldn't live without your subway stations you made so long ago and now I see you've got a lovely new HSR station coming up. 9.gif Is there going to be a monorail version of that? And new school buses! Cool! 4.gif

Anyway, the main reason why I'm posting here is this:

    atsbuses.jpg

I just had to give your work a big shout-out in my CJ. 9.gif So I created the Brenda_Xne Transportation Co. there, seeing as how you have made more than half of the public transit that I use!

So... Thanks for making my SC4 more fun. 10.gif

P.S.  You also have the cutest avatar I've ever seen.  9.gif

very very nice busses (guess the school system got extra good funding too!  Our busses are nowhere near that nice)  If you are trying to model and american bus, you also might want to add a stop sight at the side and an emergency exit at the back and the sides and the top.  Here's an example [link] and emergency exit [link]... but that is if you want to be unoriginal and follow the standards...

your model is very original and I like it very much! 44.gif

As always thank you for your comments!!!

Seeing my work on Zelgadis CJ made me feel very happy. I love seeing my work on others people cities.5.gif

I did some work on the roof's station. It is not finish yet so the roof is still floating on the air (what can be more modern than that =P). I'll continue to work more on it tomorrow. I also changed the texture a little bit, please feel free to comment.

When I originally started to BAT my last station I wanted it to be also for the NAM over road MOD. But then I lost the model (power supply killed my PC 14.gif) and then I found it 4.gif well thing is that I did some modifications and so here it is:

The first draft on an El-Train station over road for the NAM (Road was rendered for reference only)

I hope you like the updates 48.gif

I still don't know how to make that station =P

I think they usually end as a ground rail. If I find pictures I could give it a try =)

Wouldn't you need a elevated train depot then if it's a end station? Sounds like a lot of work to me.

I don't actually know what one would look like. I don't live in NYC or Chicago, but its just strange that when we need to end an el-train at an end point, we have to use a thru station. I was thinking of a station that is capped on one end. Let me see if I can make a diagram.

    ---- the tracks

    |||||| the station

} the end of the station

    ---------------||||||||}

The best example that I would have would be in Spiderman, where he stops the el-train from running of the end of the tracks, instead of there beaing just an end to the tracks, there would be a el-station there.

The station I've seen at the end of the line has both tracks go through. The termination is an extension of the track where the right side merges and switches over to the left track (North American). The train then waits there for the scheduled time for entry into the station in the other direction.

Wow, the roof of the HSR station looks a lot better now - I think the amount of opaque, transparent and reflective areas is just right now. 4.gif After looking at the el-rail over road station, I think you should apply that U-shaped profile of the platform section to the HSR station as well - at the moment, there's a rather massive concrete block that forms the platform area, but it would look much nicer, if you break the lower edge and curve it inwards, like I indicated it in the pic below:

    hsrstationfu7.jpg

Also, the el-rail station might work better with round supports, rather than the square ones. As for a terminal station, I'm all for it. There doesn't need to be train depot, and we could always pretend that there's a switch inside that moves the train to the other track somehow. 2.gif
