Well, this is the current region i'm working on, i still have to think of a name, i'd go with Leningradskaya but that's a classic :whatevs:.

volgograd21332635376.png

The large Peninsula you see in the middle is "Lenin'sk", the city-core of the whole region. It is well served by subways, rails and avenues. The freeway system is still to-finish, however some is still there, going around all the suburbia overthere. But the city-center also has his road ring. Then there's a railway half ring and the freeway connecting to the outer freeway half ring. The airport is there, easily reachable by anywhere from the map, via train or car. Lenin'sk and the immediate suburbs are served by some avenue half ring too, plus the said railway system. Now this creates a pretty dense area of mass-transit transportation network, where large parts of regional traffic go up, down, east and west; with the airport right there.

Here's standard view:

volgograd21332638791.png

As you can see the immediate suburbia like Strela and others, is well present and large, with even big buildings all around. The suburbia, the more will spread, the less density will have and more farms, then even more forest, like the community of Green Palm in the east and Fedorov, not too far from Lenin'sk. Nova Gorod reaches 32k inhabitants, constituting the major suburb until now. West Lenin'sk is not exactly considered a suburb but more a continuation of the city to the west. I am striving to make this as most realistic as possible!

I wonder, what is the biggest region you have ever worked on? So far I've seen maps of 8X8, 10X10 and 12X12 large city tiles. Have any of you worked on larger regions than these?

It shouldn't slow a computer down, it would just take longer to load.

@100000000000: I hate to ask, but what terrain mod are you using? Your desert looks fantastic!

Oh man I love how desert regions look. It's like one GIANT beach!

I just thought I'd post a little bit of my region that I have finished.

Airportregionview.jpg

That's Saint Krist Moen International and it's surrounding farmland and two small towns. What that bridge connecting to the island leads to is a small Naval station. The metro area is directly east of that Airport and has about 90,000 sims.

Wow jack, lots of farms. :D I bet your sims never go hungry. Do you connect your cities by just road? Or do you have a regional highway system?

This may be a stupid question, but how do you take a photo of everything at once?

Do you take multiples and stitch them together?

Lol, thanks. I do have two highways in this region (RHW), but most cities are connected by suburban-shopping-corridor-avenue-type-things. I lack the patience and skill to fully connect my region with highways.

Not a stupid question at all, I used to wonder the same thing. I use a program called Simcity 4 Startup manager. But another good one is Region Census. Just Google the names and you should be able to find them. If you need any help just PM me and I'll get the links for you. But this picture is also photoshopped to have the names, the bright colors, the white outline, a small part of the forest, and the cutout just to show the part of the region I want to show.

Thanks! I try to make look like a realistic, American metropolis.

Oh my god thank you do much -I've been playing this game for about 7 years and had looked into full region views but it had never worked before. I downloaded the SC4 startup manager and had a view within seconds!

This is it ~(current pop 3.4 mil, target 30 mil)

Lenin'sk continues to sprawl on some unknown part of the mediterranean coast of Russia. More than 800 game years have passed since the first brick was placed.

volgograd22.png

The metropolitan area accounts for over 580'000 people and circa 275'000 commercial jobs, nonetheless more than 190'000 industrial jobs.

P.S.: Someone knows why some water borders are shown?

@logintime: It's a custom terrain mod I made by mixing Chihuahua and Pyrenean Terrain Mod Textures

@SimcityFuturist: Oh man! Carson Oceanside is HUUGE!

@Cobhris96:Not bad! May I reccomend a custom terrain and water mod? ;)

@jack3oh3: Nice region! I love how you've treed the mountains.

@thefunktopus: Very nice region! I like the rivers and lakes alot...

@AIX: Cool! The farmland along the river delta is fantastic!

@Moskva: Hey that's pretty good! May I recommend not using the Maxis beaches though? They stick out rather badly in region views

@Silur: Simple, but great!

They're not all Maxis beaches, there are also beaches from one of most popular sets, where there are larger, smaller and diagonal versions. I wish i knew how to make a beach without actually plopping anything but terrain texture, however cannot find the thing.

Thanks, it's the 3 Rivers Region -it has a massive (ie 10000 posts) CJ at SC4D. I liked the look of it and the mix of terrain so I downloaded it, however 2 years later I still haven't generated all the tiles (256 large tiles!). Your desert region is great -I had a look through your CJ and was very impresssed!
