GreekMan - If you don't mind a few missing cargo-props you'll be fine without the JES mega prop pack from SC4dev.

    1. Terminal, thats the name for an entire structure, but primarly it goes for the Entrance part, where you would have the Checkin, Luggage Collecting, Security Checks and the bulk of tax-free shopping. Basicly a Terminal is the side of the airport facing the roads & bustops.

Concource is the side where you board your Aircraft from, whenever it be through walking out of a door and up a stair to the plane or through a jetway.

Heres a picture of Stockholm Arlanda to Explain.

    arlandaterminaler2004shy7.jpg

Terminal 2 is in a style common for smaller airports or older terminals, it dosnt feature any peers so it only has jetways on one side of the building, in this case the terminal is the part to the right and the concource to the left.

Terminal 3 would have its terminal in the bottom part, which features an entrance and such and no jetways, while its concource would be that portruding peer. Terminal 4 & 5 are built up on the same way, with all their jetways on peirs. this is because its more efficent use of space this way.

Oh, and yeah, Arlanda dosnt have a Termnal 1 at all, though Bromma(another of stockholms smaller airports) is sometimes rumord to be called Terminal 1.

    2. What would some of you build first? The airport itself, or the runways?quote>

    2. Personally, i allways start by deciding what kind of configuration i want(ie number of runways and which direction there in) and directly relevant, the size of the airport(Small domestic to large international etc).

Then, next step is to draw out aproximate locations for the runways and terminals, u use the road and avenue tools for this, also mark out taxiways when that is done.

First airportpices i plop would be the runways, just the ends, lighting & exits, so i know that they will fit into the intended area.

from this i start adding the taxiways, i generally space my taxiways with 6-8 tiles, some people have them as close as 2 tiles from eachother. personal preferance i guess, i think its more realistic with larger distances.

Then once you start getting close to the terminal you will want to start plopping the outlines and jetways, youll probably want to try a few different setups. then once all the runways, taxiways and terminals are completed, you can start filling in the gaps, grass, tarmac holes in the taxiways, id reccoment to wait untill this stage to plop the final parts of diagonal taxiways and runways, as it saves you time if you need to redo them because something you wanted didnt fit or align properly.

    3. Can anyone give me a link to a cj where I can look at a good, realistic airport? (with the new Ace pack)quote>

A good place to start hunting:

Show us your airport @ sc4dev

Show us your airport @ ST

Otherwise keep in eye out for mine, which is loosly based on the above Arlanda, but scaled down to two runways and three terminals with two peers. As i didnt need a 60 gate airport.

Hope this post is to some help atleast 4.gif

//Edit: Forgot to mention, the information in RMIP's readmees is invaluable 2.gifquote>

Wow. Thank you so much. I didn't think I'd get a response like that! I was read

The readmees are very accurate, so much so that there beyond beeing able to set a price on 2.gif

if you follow the readme, and count tiles, youll have a perfectly realistic runway(as far as sc4 allows ofc).

    //edit, wrong quote 3.gif

Im hoping it might help others aswell(and i was boored XD)

Ccecill: I am also in the works of an airport guide, much like Emilin's "Building a Port - The Hard Way" over on SC4D. It's been slow going because something I've downloaded, that I can't seem to locate, causes my computer to crash when I zoom out farther than the 3rd zoom level. I think I will ultimately give up on trying to get large overview shots and stick to just taking shots of the main concepts, which in the long run are more important to the guide anyway. Expect to see it within this month, baring computer failure or other calamity that could impede me.

That's great. I'll look for that tutorial over on SC4D. For big shots, I'd recommend you get Region Census.

See, looks a lot better and more pleasant without caps :)

And on the question, you dont. they are static, just like whatever other bat you download. they sit in place and function just like a park. its purley for eyecandy, and since they are not automata, they will never move.

Thanks for depressing caps-lock next time ^__^

Eh? You only got region-sized shots which is pointless. He wants zoom 1 or 2 size shots.

The answer is quite simple. They don't. They're static objects for the purpose of eye candy.

    Okay, one more question...

    air2zb9.jpg

Alright... see the large Northwest plane? Okay, notice the color of the ground around the plane? Well, I'm having trouble finding the 1x1 piece with that color.

Can anyone help? Oh, BTW, that's not my work above.

BTW, I'm working on my airport and will have pics up soon... (but not here.)

    HPNIAlogo.jpg

    Oh, help is appreciated. 35.gif

    Hello everyone;

I hate to be one of those people that just demands new lots or BATs instead of being thankful for the great stuff you guys put out.  But i do have one request and maybe you have this and if so just point me in the right direction.  If you could , i am looking for more Airport ground equipment, i.e.: Tugs, Fuel Trucks, shipping contaners, MHE (Material Handeling Equipment), K-Loaders, and so on.

Is their a plan for any of this, if so great, if not could i make a humble request for it.  Also if i can be of any help, I don't BAT, but i am a dam good LOT maker, if u have the props i can put them together for you.

Anyway, thank you for the great work so far.

    thanks

I hope I don´t get flamed for promoting a competing website, but I would like to advertise to all the people that has been requesting aircraft in this thread that I have started a (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3016.0 ) thread to collect as many links for SC4 Aircraft as I can find.

So far I have come across quite a few including a couple of Japanese ones featuring among others a FedEx MD-11 (I believe someone asked for a FedEx aircraft in here earlier).

I hope to see the excellent work of Ace, Voltaire and the others result in a functional airport piece as I´m thinking of building a new airport in one of my cities.

It seems strange to see the Sims asking for a new airport when You already have a huge modular one in the city...

    Thanx for Your contributions everyone!

@Death Reaper: The entire thing is recognised as an airport, wel, most is. However, it doesn't has any capacity and as thus is not a demand cap buster.

@ Brooney: double click on the file you got, it should open an installer.

Could anyone please tell me where I can find the 747 Staging lines of this wonderful airport pack.

I did find them in my plugins folder, but I can't seem to find it in the airport menu...

I can't finish my airport properly without it(It looks buttugly without them...)

EDIT: nevermind, the files wernt what I thought they were, and the lines are a separate pack I didnt have yet...

It is indeed... and it's been expanded on several times.

For anyone looking for updates, we now operate the Aerospace Consortium over here. You can find our complete release list in here (scroll down a bit).

Aside from this pack and its expansions, we also do functional airports; a large collection was released earlier this year.
