Hi everyone!

I'm new on this forum, and I'm reapproaching this game after 2 years.

The problem is that I can't play in a satisfating way because the game is too slow!!!

This is my PC:

- PIV 3,00 GHz

- 1024 Mb RAM

- ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128 Mb 256 bit

- 200 GB

- etc. etc.

So, is it possible that, at maximum detail, 1028*1024, my game is slow, even when nothing is built?? Is possible that shadows are soo heavy for my PC!?

What about your game experience with your PC?

Thank you,

Andrea

    Sure!

And all other games run well, like Call Of Duty 2, Rome TW, etc. etc.

Only this game has problems 15.gif

    Welcome to Simtropolis!

It could be your graphics card. SC4 does not like some ATI Radeon cards, and yours sounds like one of them. Check out this thread. It might help you out. Also turn off any fancy graphics settings like anti-aliasing. Also, check your virtual memory and make sure that it is set to 4x your ram... or 4096 MB on the maximum setting anyway. Also... check out this thread for info on tuning your PC for optimal performance.

Also, this post probably belongs in the Bugs and Technical Issues Forum. You can find more help there.

i would go for 1024 -768 rather than 1028-1024 because simcity is a hog and with your detail that high it causes more heat and there for your pc wont handle it that well and try to have little running in the background when you are playing

\With all that disk you should put your swap file size (initial, maximum) up to (4095,4095).  This is the XP maximum, but you need lots of available memory for this game at that resolution.  Frankly, I run at 1024 x 768 and dont really have a detail problem.  The graphics in this game are just not that good.

I usually run the game at 1600x1200, and have no performance problems whatsoever. Frankly, you've got a better system than mine, so there's obviously something screwy going on. Like others said, make sure your graphics driver isn't buggy.

You are running on hardware-graphics, aren't you? If you're in software emulation mode, that could be your problem.

Whoa! Compared to me, I've got a four times as bad computer, and I play at almost all high settings!

Could it be so that you have some Spyware on your computer? That stuff really makes your computer go slow...

    thats odd.

    i play at 1280x1024

    p4 3.0ghz

    1024mb ram

    ati X800 pro (256mb)

    and i have 2 HD's (60gb 5400rpm, 20gb 7200rpm)

i have no problems at all running the game on full graphics with a load of mods and stuff. no slowdown at all.

maybe it is just your video drivers..i have readt hat ATI video cards are kinda sketchy with this game...mine works well though..
