Alright then.

Everyone, you can thank ilikehotdogsalot for this one.

Until I get around to starting a CJ in late winter, if ever, you will not see a single screenshot from me.

The fact that I posted on this thread when it had been sitting dead for 4 weeks, saving it from an undeserving death, and have continued to supply input and pictures for all this time... I'uno, guess this site really is just how I had thought. Full of people that only care about themselves and folowing the rules. Ah well. I'll continue to post my comments here, but not a single more picture.

OK, just a quick test drive, before I start my new CJ with this image. What ya guys think? This is an improvised 30s style middle-size American city with some modern office blocks popping up here and there. Thanks.

Ever thought I may not have much variety? I wore out one area of my region, so I went to my new one. There really isn't much to it, so yeah, I end up posting more of the same. I try very hard to give diferent perspectives to the same area, because I put a lot of detail into the area that isn't able to be seen by just the single angle/zoom. May have just been a poor use of words, but what he said to me came off as an insult.

nedal2001 - I really like that picture - the rowhouses look really good, it would look even better if the parking all matched, but that's not your fault.  9.5

LP - Nice looking area, maybe could use more traffic other than bus traffic.  8.0

plasticboy - I really like the editing you did on this, especially the headlight/taillight streaks!  9.0

Here is one from my Aqua Vista cj:

7up13.jpg

none of my pictures are edited or photoshopped in any way, I don't even own photoshop!

Aah.. finally got SimCity to run for 20 minutes without crashing... and my RAM cleared up too ^^.

Anyway, here's my picture. Not as extensively photoshopped as yours but a little...

Plasticboy: That is just too cool 3.gif10/10 seemurray2: Great setting and nice mix of colors. 8/10 TinySim: I really like how you used that retaining wall, however, the rest of the image comes off as being somewhat empty. Also, the patched brick texture on the streets is perhaps somewhat unrealistic. On the contrary, the way half of the image is on a diagonal axis works very well. 7/10

I see alot of criticism over realism here. Things like "One parking lot is a different color from the other" and "The tree pattern/colors do not look realistic"

Go outside. I can see 3 very different shades of road color from my front step. 3.gif Grid patterns in cities are also very common, so no critcism there. Frivalous use of walkways are also great.

The only possible way top judge realism is based on what does not exist in real life, and I am sure every single pattern of streets, buildings, floral arangements, etc. are used somewhere in this world. The exception being some of the fantasy BAT's floating around.

It is one thing to be picky about rating an image, but you should know what the hell you are talking about first. All of them get a 9 or 10 if you ask me, except for the select few that posted a pic and actually enjoy playing the game instead of making a work of art. They get an 8 9.gif

Emerikol - If you're going to quote people then quote what they really said, not what you interpreted.  I gave his picture a 9.5, and I didn't say anything about realism, I said it would look even better if the parking all matched - but that wasn't his fault.

People can rate the images however they want, and the people posting pictures to be rated know that.  You shouldn't mis-quote people and then tell them they don't know what the hell they are talking about.

I quoted nothing within the last 10 pages actually. The first few were annoying enough. Lots of pretty pictures though 4.gif Sure they can vote however they want, but I believe their judgement is poor I can question that judgement.

The reason some of the views expressed on this thread bothered me so much, is that there is no perfect city planning. Development happens slow and city planners do not have a de-zone button. So in short, just about everything in these screenshots is realistic. Even the patched brick textures on the streets (they have it here in Delaware).

LPthats just his veiws not everyones, i like ur stuff, btw i like the busses at night u will see loads in city centers im sure u ment to do that! 3.gif if only odean auto updated it self with the latest film adverts 15.gif 9/10

plasticboy u have the lense flare in the right place, i will be sure to check out the cj, nice ps on the car lights and buildings are jsut right, 9/10

seemurray2 nice pic, nice traffic, stadia reminds me so much of the blue jays stadium in torronto, that i went to last year, i live in uk lol long way from home. 8.5/10

TinySim get rid of the paving red, mod it sucks against jerr's. nice rail tho and the right off the image is fab 8/10

Emerikol agreed, most shops on the game people call unrealisitc, at the end of the day when was they last residential only pic on the thread, ok so somebuildings can be used but next to each other they look wrong, not any building can be placed, and i give a range form 5-9 becuase most of the stuff does deserve it, and i dont wana rate so low people don't post, sorry its called democracy.

I didn't mean it as an insult, You have great pictures man, Most of the pictures here, I consider a work of art, as said in an earlier post. I just get kinda annoyed when you post 3 pictures of the same thing, like that one time where you had to reshow the picture because the first one had a ghost van or whatever. Please, Donot stop posting pictures because most of your work is very inspiring, I didn't mean to start drama.

    Anyways, here are some rates.

plasticboy: I saw that picture in your thread! 10/10 I really like the headlight effect, any tips on doing it?

seemurray2: I really like that big statium, the buildings near the coast look pretty good, but the pictures needs a certain something. 8/10

TinySim: I like the diagonal type of picture, however, it looks a bit empty. not much going on, the patches of brick is okay I guess, but it would look better if the whole street was brick 7/10

I think you should vote low if you believe the pic deserves it. I personally vote on a first impression when looking at the pic, instead of examining fine details. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? As long as nobody is being ignorant about it, then it would be a source of inspiration to those who had poor votes.

    I like seemurray's pic...absolutely beautiful. 9/10

ilikehotdogsalot... not exactly what I was looking for, but the "inspiring" made up for it. I'm simply a perfectionist, and I'd prefer to edit a post instead of re-posting, but realistically... nobody would take the time to scroll up if I edited a post. I don't edit much anyway, most of my stuff is simply resized and nothing more... but that particular one I decided to edit, and showed both because of it. Believe me, that won't happen often.

So fine, I'll suck up my pride... This "different" enough for ya? 3.gif

    Hatterson-Apr-1.jpg

And I'm serious about the CJ. I'm working hard on this region and it will take until late winter/early spring. After that, I'll probably stop posting so many pictures here. I'm basically using this thread to see what the "viewers" like, and what I need to work on. 2.gif

seemurray2: 9.5/10 - That's excellent! BAT:s, traffic, composition of the picture. Very near a prefect ten.

TinySim: 7/10 - Cool stuff where there is stuff, but too much empty space in the picture.

LP: 8/10 - Nice construction sets and traffic. Overall a good shot.

    --------

And I don't expect any over the top ratings for my contribution but I really like the car going over this little bridge, so I thought I'd share his litlle pic and let you guys rate it.

thanks crazychickensc12 (is the sc12 really necessary? 3.gif) I tend to over-react, but eh... I got some nice ego stroking because of it! 2.gif

capitol1, looks a bit like the cycledog mod... not sure though. Awesome interchange btw, never done anything like that myself.

Yes... trees... trees everywhere, even in the watter. Set the houses on fire, add a few tornadoes, and... iuno... maybe a nuclear explosion. Then you'd get a 11 our of 10!

    Yeah... I'm done now... 3.gif

Lots of pics I'm rating here...

Waz_Up_Tiger: Very nice, love the area that it was constructed in. 9/10

LP: 1st Pic on Page 35:
I like this one, especially the lighting and the pond.  Excellent work there. 9.5/10
    2nd Pic:
Good close up there.  All that grass on the avenue kills it though. 8/10
    3rd Pic:
Great construction shot!  I love it. 10/10

    nedal2001:
Great work there!  I love every aspect of the downtown.   What really sticks out to me is the W2W apartments. 10/10

    plasticboy:
Now that is one amazing pic!  Nice editing! 10/10

    seemurray2:
Without a doubt, one of the best pics I've seen around here that has no photoshop edits.  Easily the most realistic as well. 10/10

    TinySim:
The whole right side of that picture is beautiful, but the half brick street(s) just kill it.  So do the empty industrial zoning.  Still a good pic. 7/10

emilin: Nice pic, love the car.  Also, the trees and the stream blend well. 9.5/10

capitol1: Sweet interchange!  Something seems missing that makes it a little unrealistic though. 8/10

capitol1: 7/10 - Nice interchange, but too many other strange things going on. What's with the "lake" in the middle?

ilikehotdogsalot: 9/10 - I like your photoshopping. It looks frozen. And I also like it when the photoshopping adds something that wouldn't be possible without it, like a frozen city.

Edit: the texture on my pic comes with dedgren's rapid ploppables. I guess it's supposed to be used with some terrain mod that I'm not using. The terrain in that pic is Maxis default, but I photoshopped the colours a little to make it greener.

emilin-A wonderfully simple and beautiful shot. The colors are excellent and the river is done very nicely. The only thing that I find annoying is the different color grass along the street but that's out of your control.

    9/10

capitol1-The intercahnge is nicely done but it's missing traffic. The power substation and the homes really don't seem to fit in.

    7/10

ilikehotdogsalot-Now this is a very interesting picture...if you're going for a frozen-wintery theme then it looks beautiful, otherwise, too much photoshop. 3.gif The only problem I can see is that the change from water to land is far too abrupt...also, I'd love to know how you achieved that effect. 9.gif

    9/10

And here is my contribution after a long time...technically it's three images because it's a mosaic.
