San Portello Begins...

San

San Portello (Not Son-bad spelling!) will be a BIG reigon (Not as big as Eternia but a goood-size).  Like California, it'll have 3 distinct cities (One extra to derive scope into the reigon).  They are:

Los Porablos
Los Angeles; low density, exotic beaches, big freeways and a gangster's paradise.  This city will grow up with some areas boasting good education, low crime and an excellent police force, while the other parts will be run-down, with residents either planning to move or to become the greatest gangster in 'da hood' within a crooked police catchment area. (Hopefully I'll get some of these parts to riot to create a good close-to-LA-style history).

First Development as Rockerfeller Mountians are sculpted

Mount Chinchilla, an infamous landmark in the first city, was the first area to be colonised by Spoinder & Ikorg settlers in the late 1700's.  As the history grew around the major city, the area grew and grew until the Mobil Distribution Centre was constructed...

    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MobilDistributionCentre.JPG align=baseline>
This centre distributes at least 50,000 tonnes of Oil alone via it's pipeline network on a monthly basis (Seen north on the picture - incomplete).  With extra work, this centre also trades gas at lower quantites via the pipeline.  The main part of the centre (The huge freight yard), loads up freight trains passing through with rich, crude oil to the Oil Refinery in San Fernandes and as a return gift, this unloads Petrol, Deisel and lubricants for market shelfs directly in Los Porablos.  The second from largest centre is the head offices for Mobil.  The police points mark gates in and out of the complex (Except the one within it), the main gate would be the easterly one.  More pics to follow once the site properly develops.

    Mounthttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//SanPortelloMountChinchilla.JPG align=baseline>
Nothing new with this view except for the development on mount Chinchilla. This marks the beginning of the Rockerfeller mountians - the Interstate 30 sculpts through the mountains until branching off with the I35 which goes directly to San Fernandes the train line makes it's way to a sleepy town (that's current not existant) which posseses a freight yard, and in turn this trails off to all the other cities.  It can't be seen here yet but once Los Porablos develops on the low areas and the mountains are completed I'll give you a pic. Btw how can I take a picture of the entire reigon?

    Hopeful

It's obvious where the rockerfeller mountians are; I'm planning on placing a small hydroelectric damn just east of Las Ventura.  As you can see Im terraforming first and then developing.  So far I have to keep on going becuase I'll never finish if I just concentrate on one city alone.  I know Las Vegas is in Nevada but what the hell-this is a game; it can't be all real! lol.

Ur San Fransisco is awesome! Yeah, it won't be 4 a little while yet, but I'm definetly terraforming the area of city close to reality, I downloaded this (rather old) pic to establish the shape of downtown.  The other two cities I copied from the maps seen on Simtropolis - I think the map squad created them... not sure.

    Borders almost touch!

One more small update before i leave.  The main river esturary is finished even if it needs a bit of a touchup and Los Porablos is beginning to gradually spread northwards.  Mount Chinchilla is still overpowering the views, but soon, smog will prevent that.  Here's a reigon pic...

    San Fernandes first shots

Although in Beta stage, the first screen has been finally taken after hours of careful terroforming (most of which was getting my head around that reconcile tool).  The city will roughly be about 3/4ths the size of Los Porablos but will more developed (once it has been connected to the first city.) I'm planning on placing the increase speed mod to (At least) get a small depth of realism with the commutes.  Here's the reigon view and again, sorry about the rubbish quality...

    Stagehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//San%20PortelloStage3.jpg width=500 align=baseline>

The yellow circle will be San Fernandes (Not actual planned size).  The red circle is obviously Los Porablos.  This is all I have done atm, as most of it is terraforming - I'll post some pics of Los Porablos if I have time tonight.

    Thnx 4 the encouraging comments.

Thnx agen guys 4 the gr8 comments - ur reigons/cities r excellent! Neways... to business...

    Forward Planning

So; Los Porablos has fully developed and has scaled the area it's planned for and now San Fernandes is building up.  What about in between? There will be at least 4 or five interstates shared between the two cities and many roads stretching from them, but where do they go?

So far this is the plan:

*Inustrial Areas will be placed within the mountains, such as mines, oil refineries and big industrial districts.

*Along the interstates, there will be small towns and villages, some large, others very very small.

*Ghost towns will pop-up, whereby I develop the usual town and then fork the taxes right up so everyone moves out - but make all the buildings historical.

*Points of secrecy (Army bases, Area 5.1 and such)

*With all of these I'll place little stories to add realism.

So, do you like the planning so far? Any input would be helpful especially town names - here are a few...

*Pineneedle (Along the interstate between Porablos and Fernandes)
*Morino (Small beach resort tending to tourists and the likes)
*Sleepy Willow (Ghost Town in the rockerfeller mountians)
*Brentwood (Town set behind a large forest just outside the rockerfellers)
*Palm Creek (Along the same river towards the Hoobie dam, a small fishing village.)
*Mirkwood (A lonesome village deep in the forests in the shadow of the rockerfellers)
*Flentwood (Another ghost town, somewhere in the Dorado Desert)

    The Golden River is complete

    Reigonhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//San%20PortelloStage4.jpg width=700 align=baseline>

The Golden River is complete (Rough Template atm) - it's the one which runs from Los Porablos and heads towards San Fernandes.  A (highway) bridge will cross this river at one stage in time (However this won't be the Golden Gate).  This'll start off to be the I30 from Los Porablos and then cross onto I35 to go the rest of the way to San Fernandes.  Here's a picture to give you the jist of it's travels...

    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//I30andI35.JPG width=750 align=baseline>

If you keep travelling the I35 then u eventually reach Georgetown, and if you keep travelling on the I30 you eventually reach Las Ventura.  More interstates to come but these two are the primary ones for today's development.  Here's some pics of mount Chinchilla:
    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MountChinchillaBeach.JPG align=baseline>
This is my optimum beachline for the whole of Los Porablos; sorry about the run-down dirtyness - with regulating dirty and industry, it's been a heck of a job to keep them in business.  But once the city gets going I'll post some more (Proper) pics.  I can't wait to get Las Ventura done - if these beaches look good I wonder how the palm trees will there!
    Commercialhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MountChinchillaCommercialArea.JPG align=baseline>
The above avenue will be another freeway. Here's a happy Commercial district that isn't doing too badly. (Could be worse).

I'll post some more pictures later.
Thnx 4 the gr8 comments again.

    Time for a quickie

Before Im off for the night, here's Los Porablos' main industrial centres that have recently been built.  Exact location will be placed on tomorrow's update.

    Exxonhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//ExxonIndustrialPark.JPG align=baseline>
This Industrial centre is a mix of industries, the main one proudly being the Mobil Testing & Processing facility (Big black set of buildings).  Exxon Industrial Park offers a fair number of jobs (At least 12,000 to my estimates) and is also a legal contractor of Mobil and the Los Porablos-San Fernandes rail network.  The large distribution centre carries all industrial traffic either to RAILlink next door or to San Fernandes where goods are packed & shipped to the world.  Los Porablos smog rating has touched 5%.  Long way to go yet.
    Mobilhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MobilPipeNetwork.JPG align=baseline>
From this processing facility, Mobil begins to distribute to it's national customers.  Natural gas and Oil has been contracted to Edwards & Edwards steel for an endless time, and as a concrete form of this ever-lasting contract, the piping on the right goes straight to the industry.  The pipes on the left are the mains, and thanks to the processing facility the pressures and speeds of these pipes are now so large it is said both lines carry 1,000,000 Ktonnes of Oil & Gas to San Fernandes Refinery a month.
    Testinghttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MobilTesting&ProcessingFacility.JPG align=baseline>
This beast accelerates, filters and raises the temperature of both main products, offering quick and cost-effective ways to transport the supplies.  It also takes sample batches and conducts all sorts of readings to determine the products' quality and hydrocarbon value.  There's also a secret investigation going on but we won't know what it is until we find Area 5.1...
    Shellhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//ShellIndustrialFacility.JPG align=baseline>
The Shell industrial Facility, home to at least 8,500 jobs and 5,000,000 tonnes of oil batching & dating.  Lorry-loads & trains of crude oil comes in everyday for worker sims to slave at separating lubricant oil from all the other hydrocarbons.  Once this is done the lubricant is placed into packadging and added to store shelves - samples taken at the facility.  The remaining oil is taken to the main depot where it is batched up again for final breakdown into products like petrol, diesel and natural gas.  Shell is proud to follow it's standards in San Portello and will beat any rival companies (Including Texaco & Mobil) at quality assurance.  Shame it was these oil wars that nearly sent Los Porablos into chaos.

Have you Missed the first city Los Porablos?

Hey everyone, sorry if I haven't been through updates recently (Life distracting me alot what with my homework and assignments - eeek!) But I've been developing the city Los Porablos further inbetween breaks and work periods and this is how it stands today, I'll try and post a proper update 2morrow. Thnx 4 the gr8 comments throughout the whole cj - it keeps me going!

    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//San%20Portello%20Stage5.jpg width=750 align=baseline>
This is be the reigon as it stands at 0.00am (British Time).  I've begun sculpting the I30 interstate through the rockerfellers, however there has been no major towns/villages being constructed at this time.  The difference in sea colour is the San Fransisco water mod coming into play - it will change the further I develop on the shores.  Los Porablos is beginning to take shape as settlers from across the world are flown in to this city.  It's only a matter of time before it becomes a sprawling metropolis!
    Loshttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Reigon5.JPG width=800 align=baseline>
A population proofage for you.  As you can see interstates and freeways are cropping up everywhere and the urban race is beginning.  I've plopped some buildings within the 'West Side' district (Two tall towers), as this will be my downtown.  Everything is run down due to water shortage and low demand but once the money and the tourists flow in, they'll be back to sing in the air with more skyscrapers.  You can also see the waterfront - which looks quite the sight.
    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//TransportationMap5.JPG align=baseline>
Here's the major transport map.  There is only one interstate shown and constructed - it's the I30.  Once the I35 and I32 come into play I'll do some labelling with my basic paint skills.  There are now two major train yards - one is the Fletton industrial centre and the other LP Central Station (Pics to follow when downtown develops properly).  Oh yes and I've named the first freeway - the one that sprints off the I30 under mount chinchilla... that's the SimGoober Intercity Freeway.  This freeway passes through the outside districts, connecting with the major routes and Interstates passing over the river, though the proposed Port and ending up in Hollywood where it becoems the I32. More naming to follow with labeling!
    Thehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//San%20Porablos5.JPG align=baseline>
The waterfront today - accomidating many tourists and showing the most luxorious of residential resorts & hotels.  Condos and houses will be put up for sale shortly... For a reservation either post here or email me on nrkuk@hotmail.com .  Any extra comments would be greatly appreciated too.

Once the city grows past the river I'll start thinking up some tourists guides or visits, showing the locations visitors will go to and see.  Also I'll tell the big story behind Los Porablos; The Gangster's review.

Stay tuned for following stories such as:

*San Fernandes - A MySim life.
*Las Ventura - Winning the world... With cards...
*GeorgeTown - Industrial Powerhouse to Commercial Forest.
and the final story... Born in San Portello.
A story of a young man wishing to have a good life, and how he gets that good life by travelling the great reigon of San Portello: duelling the heavy-gangsters of Los Porablos; Mixing with the mid-town Mafia of San Fernandes; Making it big in Las Ventura; and then loosing it all and then earning it all back in GeorgeTown before being killed by an unknown figure from the shady past...

It will all be here soon - stay tuned and post your ideas & requests for your names to appear in the above stories; I'll gladly implement them for the fun of it!

lol - very interesting feedback topcliff; i felt like making a change and doing it all slightly differently.  I had some troubles getting some maps without hassel from some sort of company asking 4 money so basically I'm using GTA: San Andreas and some maps created by the map squad to place all my cities. I'll keep some of that feedback in mind when it comes to realism.

mexicanboy - thnx again; there's still only one major city on the map - issues like industry and commercial are making Los Porablos hard 2 grow.  Everything is picking up though, i'm starting to zone in some high density and with luck; the downtown area will be a collection of skyscrapers in not too long.

*it'll b a small while before ne of the stories start to appear - depends on how long each city will take.

    Welcome to the Beachead

Welcome to the beachead! This update will show you some background pictures of Los pOrablos under construction & development.  The commercial infrastructure is starting to stabilise and high rises are starting to develop.  Year by year the industries buy and sell stock until one day they have to move out or redevelop someplace else.  However, with the developments comes new oppertunities... such as the Chinchilla Beachead Development scheme... let's take a look:

    Chinchillahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Chinchilla%20Beachhead.JPG align=baseline>
This is Chinchilla beachead, one of the infamous beaches beside mount Chinchilla.  There's enough tourism and relaxing sand dunes to last a lifetime with this place - that's why we are expanding our borders along the east towards the ports and major airports.  Condos are up for Commercial sale now - the first will be the Adrian Flats, offering unique views, geat access to industry via the subway and a chance to move up in life.  This building is the last building on the right - High Wealth. Work commute will follow shortly.
    Chinchillahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Chinchilla%20College.JPG align=baseline>
On the same avenue, which soon becomes the Maxis Freeway, is the Los Porablos College of Fine Art, where students get a chance to travel upstream via the elevated network to the small financial district to soon be constructed.  The elevated rail network was recently built to lower conjestion in the area so more roads & avenues to hold more industrial & commercial traffic.
    Flettonhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Fletton%20Commercial.JPG align=baseline>
Uptown, the Fletton Commercial District just off the SimGoober Freeway.  This holds most of the City's major car dealers and manufacturers as the SimGoober Freeway is nutorious for local boy racers racing each other late at night.  These companies took serious advantage of this and business couldn't be better - their commercial offices are located at the beachead.
    Don't
Fletton may have it's boy racers, but during the day, it's not the best time to race, as one just fond out early this morning on a back road.  Traffic is hellish - so don't expact any action in these areas for quite a while during rush hour.

The Industrial Districts connect at this major point, it isn't conjested at this moment in time so if you wish to travel in style you are better off taking the train.  This is going to be a major connection route for the future - as it will carry hundreds of tourists and commuters between financial districts and the major downtown area.  People are already flocking from near & far to navigate the Pine Springs Memorial railway and in a short space of time, so will the commuters.

Here is the train overpass over the bolevard that connects to the SimGoober Freeway.  There are tolls on the other side to lower the conjestive frequencies of the commute (And to pay the maintanance bills).  As there are tolls on the avenue, sims are forced to take other less traffical routes - such as the rail line.  Our major planning policy within City Hall is governing this action and in a few short weeks, this'll be just as conjested.
    Fletton
Here's a shot of Fletton's major freight yard.  Open for business until the next major industrial centre opens up across the river, then it'll act as a train museam or perhaps an open engine centre.  Planning officals state this is a illusive action - but the Urban Committe say it'll be one step closer to the major business deal from San Fernandes - this'll distribute San Fernandes' huge power surplus that's drainign the city's funds.  A 15,000 a month reward sounds rather catchy to his honour, the mayor.

Well - stay tuned folks! Another reigon shot coming up soon!
