    Lets look at the development of Vita, since we're here already.

    This is the Eastpoint industrial District. A diverse mix of dirty factories, manufacturing plants and high tech facilities.

    Here are the 2 passenger railway stations. The north one runs to downtown while the south one runs along through Eastpoint, Vita International Airport and then cuts through Vita's suburbs. It goes in a loop all around Vita.

    Below are Vita's suburbs. We can see Grey Park and Grey Cementary.

    Something different for an update...

    I decided to go visit some old places, and jazz them up, effect wise. I wanted to see how more real I could get. So i spent a while editing them, and came up with some good results I think. I'll be doing a few more, which I'll show some more tonight.

    I'd really appreciate comments on these, I want to know how they look and if you think it adds to the feel of actually looking at a real spot. If i get good feedback on these I'll do more. These shots are mostly random, just interesting places I think would make a good shot.

    A few more to come later tonight when I'm finished with them. Again I'd really appreciate any feed back on these. The upcoming ones will be even more effect heavy, with one happening on a rainy night 48.gif

    Thanks for the comment leech! I'm going to try and make custom filters so I can do it to all my pictures.

    Here are some pictures of the transformation of the 500 highway bridge leading into Lexington.

    Before
    bridgebefore3jz.jpg

    First Step
    -Added reflections in the water for the bridge pillers, shoreline and trees.
    -Added a shadow under the bridge
    -Changed orientation of view to break away from SC4's default which we've grown accustom to

    bridgenorain6ft.jpg

    Final
    -added rain
    -changed the view back, at this close of level the traffic was clearly driving on the wrong side of the road, so I had to.

    Hope you enjoyed! Comments are greatly appreciated.

    From someone who is only recently getting into editing pictures, I will say that those look great and add to the overall realism. The dark rainy pictures look like old paintings.

    Ok I have no idea why the transportation map is so freakin' big. Its a JPG so it doesn't make sense that its 1013kb! Oh well...

    Hmm... yes that is quite a large jpg... oh well, I'm on broadband... 10.gif

    Nice region views, and definitely a lot of potential for filling in, which is typically my building style.

    Yes, the new pictures look really good - I don't have the patience to fiddle with photo editing so I really respect those that do. And the comic strip type update on the previous page was also particularly nice. 10.gif

    Beautiful region-shots.
    Interesting effects that you did with your pictures. For realism I like the two first ones. The buildings and trees look very real only the farmfields look too straight and with to much color. It almost look like old black and white photo's that has been painted over with color later. Nice!
    The pictures with rain looks indeed like old paintings. I am curious about what you are going to do with this.

    Ok, I'm doing something a little different tonight. I was thinking of starting another journal. This second journal won't require as much time as this one, so I could run both at the same time.

    So, what will this new journal be. I've done Calivada, a journal on a state. I'm working on this one, which is a planet. What next? A town. Not just a town though, it will be the town, country side, and one man's quest to make it a booming city, the best city in the world. I've never done a single, to scale city yet with SC4, and I believe thats whats next.

    Now it wouldn't be too interesting if i just did a town and upgraded it to a city. So I'll outline what I will be doing.
    1) It will have no cheats. Nothing to make me money or anything like that. I've cheated in these journals, for asethetic purposes. But I need a new challenge. Make a nice city and keep it on a balanced budget. This was inspired somewhat by the 4 player region that has popped up. Seeing how beautiful cities can get without cheating, I've been inspired to try myself.
    2) It would be slowly developed, after all I can't rush skyscrapers, beauty, and keep a realistic story without going in the red. Which leads to my next point.
    3) The story will be comedic in nature. It will follow one guy, who is very concieted. To try and bring out the comedy in the story, I'm going over the top on this guy's personality. Hes going to be the kind of guy you love to hate. I'm going to really try and develop him as a character, and then add in more, with other personallities, to either feed his comedy, or act as relief themselves. I don't see comedy done in CJ's very often so this is why I've decided to give it a try.

    Tonight, I'll post a preview, to get peoples opinions, and see whether I should carry out this journal. Remember I'll be doing both it and this one. But I need to slow this journal down a bit as its getting ahead of its timeline (I'm developing it to fast for the story, and I can't keep up!21.gif

    Stay tuned for a preview of the first chapter later tonight!

    A Preview for Possibly another CJ

    Chapter 1

    I'm Adam Huntly, and you're about to learn about the challenge I'm going to be undertaking. It all started on my private airplane, on a trip to Jefferson City, Calivada. Now you should consider yourself lucky I'm telling you this story, normally I don't bother with people that are that much worse then me, but hey, I like to show you whats possible when you're as good as me.

    Now I could describe the boring landscape that we passed on the trip, but pfft... who wants to learn about nature. Ugh. Nope, thats boring crap. You'd probably want to know about such the amazing guy I am more instead. And anyways, I was enjoying a nice sleep on the way anyways, not like I missed much.

    Well, the name's Adam Huntly. Yeah, thats right, I like saying my name, and you should get to learn it. After all, I'm the best person on the planet. Heck, I'd go as far as to say I'm the best in the entire universe, but that'd be gloating, so we'll leave it at best in the world. Yep I got it all, I'm rich, smart, better then you, and incredibly handsome. You should be kneeling down right now just to be talking to me. But since I'm a nice guy, I'll let it pass this time.

    Anyways we were talking about how good I am. I'm too good for most jobs. I've went through them like I go through my shirts. Always get the same comment from my bosses. Basically saying I'm too smart for the job, not exactly like that you know, they gotta go around the direct awnser and make you decipher it yourself. Normally they'll get me in crap for correcting customers. Oh so what, the customer was wrong and I told him what's right. He then has the odacity to argue with me, me! Look buddy, I'm smarter then you. I'm right, you're wrong. Deal with the fact and move on a smarter man. I'm always right, my opinions are always right, if you don't think so, then you're wrong, so don't speak up for your own sake. I can't count how many times my many bosses have gave me crap for educating customers, needless to say, I'm too good for my own good.

    So lets take a look why I was on this boring flight anyways. My dad's filthy rich, and hes got a job lined up for me. Maybe this one will work. I'm 27, and trying to find something thats actually challenging enough for my mental capacity. Its hard when everybody else in this world is simpler then me. Its not easy being so good.

    So I'm sleeping right, and this is when my incompentent, jerk of a pilot wakes me up to tell me that we have to make some quick landing, on some small landing strip, in some small hick town cause our fuel's burning up too quick or some crap like that. Like this was worth waking me up for. I swear, some people can be such jerks in this world its not even funny.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'd like to know how you like the new possible story so far, it doesn't tell much, but you get an idea of the main character.
