In the news...

 

Mapmakers are very busy at trying to produce an up to date map of the entire region. It is expected some time soon.

 

The oil expedition team reached the newly found oil basin located in the southwest. Escavation will start in a week, as they need time to set up their equipment and camp.

 

A hiker hiking in Hunter National Park was cooling off in the Hunter river resevoir when he began to get pulled slowly towards the dam. He didn't notice at first, luckily a quick acting rescue team was able to pull the man to saftey just minutes before coming into the range of the powerful turbines that would of pulled him in in seconds. Hunter National park in joint effort with Hunter Dam is going to be putting up fences along some of the resevoir and would like to remind people to stay away from it.

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like the news tidbits. Theres going to be basically 4 different kinds of updates. Pictorial, not very story oriented but show the region developing (will include news now however), People in Hermoso, which will show you, the participants (which I need more of), Novel like updates, and finally the comic book style story elements(which take a long time to do, I'm currently finishing the next one).

Well you know about the oil expedition team we sent to the southwest almost 2 weeks ago right?

 

Yeah I know what the news knows.

 

Well we haven't had contact with them for 2 days now. It started the morning after they began to drill. Communications cease at night while the team rests, but we never had any more contact in the morning. We haven't for 2 days now...

 

Mechanical failure?

 

Maybe. Could be worse too. Quite possiblly an oil rupture... It's impossible to tell.

 

So you want...

 

I need you to get together a small scout squad to see what happened up there.

 

Why not send another expedition?

 

The reason is you can deploy a squad there alot faster. Time is of the essence. I've sent you the map and some more additional information. Unfotunatly my time is limited, and I have to go for now.

 

Ok, I'll have them ready and out in a few hours.

Somehow I've entirely missed this CJ before, which is too bad because it's quite nice. Each page shows the cities not only getting larger but nicer and greener. [:0]

Pictorial Update # 7

 

I was reluctant to even call this a pictorial update but I will anyways. It's just a small update. I haven't had much time last few days so I haven't been able to get much done.

 

I have plans on releasing an update for everybody in Hermoso, as well as some region pics for the first time. Also look for the next episode in the comic coming soon.

 

 

 

 

 

Also I can't accept anymore applications into Hermoso for a bit. I've got alot I need to update right now, and until I get caught back up with the story and development, I have to put a hold to it. Probably can't accept new applications for about a week or 2. Then I'll be ready again.

Thanks for the comments everybody. The region pic will be soon. It's not quite ready yet. I had an update coming but Sim City crashed as usual when I zoomed out to check the area. So i have to do it again...

Region Update #1

 

The airport was finally opened yesterday. One of the aircraft captured a couple pictures of some of Hermoso. Here are 2 pictures that were taken, which were also released in the newspapers with the airport opening story.

 

 

 

The squad sent to investigate the expedition site are almost there. We'll have an update soon on the situation.

Some Preview shots of Emporia, which is still under construction. It will have an extensive harbour, acting as the main port for the entire region.

Looking good I have a question how do you get so much rail usage?  I've got rail in a few of my cities and the usage just sits at 0.  I dunno what i've done wrong.  BTW Its all freight rail....

 

Did you terraform your region yourself?

You need to make sure that your rail lines actually run to and from busy parts in the city. I've always been lucky (almost to lucky with my rails). My friend has the same problem and can never get usage. Me on the other hand, in an older city I had 350%! usage on 2  passenger stations. One that was in industry and the other just outside of the residential area, with a parking garage beside it, and bus station. The key is to have other mass transit at ur station. If sims are going to drive there, they need a place to park their cars. Or they can take the bus there, or if its in walking distance, walk.

 

Freight trains for me are hit and miss. Sometimes I can get them used, other times they have low capacity. In this region however their moving around quite well.

 

In this journal, rail lines get alot of use since I actually have many cities/communities on one region tile. Only part of each city is on the region tile, while the rest of the city lies on the adjacent region tiles.

 

Finally no, I didn't terraform the region myself. It is one of Flamesrock's beautiful regions. Of course I do alot of terraforming when I get the template, like I did with my older CJ, but I don't have the patience to terraform an entire region.
