Looking good; I hope you're feeling better.

Here is a picture of the original 7-foot-tall model of the World Trade Center, which is now on display at the Skyscraper Museum in lower Manhattan, just a few blocks from Ground Zero. The trade center's architect, Minoru Yamasaki, is on the far right sitting down. Notice the earlier roof designs for 4-6.

Very kool Bigmac. I've always wanted to visit the Skyscraper Musuem, but when I went in 2002 it was in the process of moving. I can't wait to visit it at its new home in the Ritz Carlton Battery Park City, which is quite a pretty building btw.

Very cool indeed.  That's something I wouldn't mind having in my office.  Just imagine adding on to that and creating a scale manhatten that you could walk around.

I'm glad to see they changed the plan the the Hvac housing.  I just back from Vegas where I could look down on the massive systems they have...and it isn't very pretty.  I just wish I would have gotten some pictures of the assortment of setups they have....but alas there was too much alcohal to be consumed to stop and enjoy the view.

Yeah a scale model of Manhattan huge like that would take up several footbal stadiums, but you could play Godzilla or king kong! lol!!! Its like playing simcity with blocks! And YOU could be the robot monster reaking havoc! I am so going to see that model!!

And Vegas from 32,000 feet looks awesome! I remember flying over at night on the way to Los Angeles and seeing this huge blob of light out the window and I was looking for the Luxor light but couldn't see it till we turned a little. I love the Luxor, just had to say it!!

Rubik, I actually had a couple of suggestions for you.  I was playing SC4 the other night and I queried one of the buildings (SimGoober's Toys 'R' Us) and along with his great custom query, he had the audio from one of their old commercials (I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys 'R' Us kid, there's a million toys at Toys 'R' Us that I can play with!) playing in the background.  I don't know what your plans for the query on the WTC were, but I thought it would be great if you could incorporate something like that.  For the music, I was thinking about a clip from Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.  I happened to be watching one of my DVD's on 9/11 the other night (I don't remember which one) and that was playing for the end credits.  It set the mood perfectly, and I think it would be a great addition to an already awesome creation.

    Hey Rubik,
I noticed in the Petronas thread that you had a comparison with WTC w/the plaza. Is that a low quality render or what? I was very upset to see Petronas so much taller than WTC. Are you even doing the plaza anymore or is someone else finishing it? All I can say is that you are freakin' talented! I hope you get paid for your skills somewhere.

Petronas was indeed a draft render to check on things like the merge between the seperate parts, as well as the scale.  It turned out to be too tall and has since been fixed.

Well I'm currently waiting for 4-6 to get exported again.  After those are complete there are still a few things to be done but it's still clunking along.

Nope I'm still here...just trying to multitask between real life, this, and Petronas.  4-6 just got done exporting with some changes and currently some BSC members are trying to figure out the transit enabling portion of the lot.  I will most likely miss the end of July date I set a while ago, but it will still be released, in the words of Maxis.....soon.

Looks great. However, I didn't see the World Financial Center in your lot. You know, those three buildings with one of them having a dome one the top, on with a triangular prism on the top, and one with the square roof. Also, I didn't notice World Trades 6 and 7 either. 3,4, and 5 are the World Financial Centers if I am correct. 1 and 2, of course, are the twin towers. Are you going to include 3-7 in your lot, or am I just missing something here? Sorry if this has been answered before. And also, there are 7 World Trades in all if I am correct, right?

Actually the World Financial Center is across the street from the WTC site and was not part of the complex.  1 and 2 were indeed the towers, 3 was the Marriot Hotel, 4, 5, and 6 were the small black buildings that circled the lot.  7 was across the street from the complex as well and since it isn't part of this block, it won't be included.  I may decide to model it in the future but for now there is already enough on my plate.

It's great you're still working on both things. I know that sooner or later both projects will be released, in perfect condition... It's going to be awesome! 29.gif

Hey! Just to clarify everything, my 7 WTC was updated and it does show up in the game, please download it again if you got it before the download. Anyway, Rubix...I want to to redo my building. I don't care if I modeled it well, this is your plaza, you finish it. The new WTC is my project. At this moment I am working on getting 3Ds MAX. I have all of the blueprints, I have everything needed to make this new plaza. It's mine, pre 9.11 is yours, don't let my 7 WTC stop you from making your own. Make mine look like hell ^_^.

Seven World Trade Center is my building, I made the entire plaza before Rubik did, I just never posted it...hehe.

Sorry man but I started this project well over a year ago, before the BAT even came out.  Check the first post in this thread, it was done a year before you even joined this site.

WOW you are working in other projects too that might be a head burst of work

Trust me it is.  Even though I'm having a blast with Petronas and I think everybody likes that I'm working on it, I regret ever agreeing to help as it has caused this project to have even more setbacks that I had planned.

when will you post new pic's of the complex?

Well nothing much has changed since the last pic and there will be very little changes to the plaza in the future so until the lot is complete, expect very few pics.  I may make some changes to the night lighting on the tower, but other than that the modelling is pretty much complete.

Well I started it when there was no word of a BAT so there wasn't much to do for a long time.  Then I had to export from 3d studio into GMax once the details of the BAT came about.  But the main reason it has taken so long is that I have included almost every detail on every building and it took a long time to find pictures of all of those details.  Plus it has taken a lot of planning to make sure that the end product will be as realistic as possible.  Not to mention over a month of total export time.

I can't figure out how to put pictures in these stupid forums.

When you post a reply there should be a yellow button on the top left that says rich text, press it and wait for it to reload.  Now you should see an insert image button which will bring up another page to insert your image, 800x600 < 200k Max.

Build, build and build! (your petronas look a little thin though?)

Ya we figured that out when we did those draft exports and has since been fixed.  They haven't been exported again so that's why you haven't seen any new pics of it.

Here are two more night photos of the plaza provided by savethewtc and scanned from the book World Trade Center: Remembered.

Once again tell him thanks those are indeed some great images.

Busy as a Beaver eh ?

Well, looks like aiming for a 9/11/2004 is realistic for this project at this point....

It's now been what, several months going strong ?

Take your time Rubik after all September is still a good part of a month or so away still....

Oh and yes, Thanks to all that are helping by provideing Images to make this as realistic as possible, your dedication is verry much thankful in what has to be one of the longest ongoing projects here....

Ya, unfortunately Transit Enabling is taking longer than expected and is pushing back the release date.  But if we can't get it working soon the idea will be ditched because Sept. 11th is the final deadline I've set.

Transit Enabling sounds like it's hard if it's delaying things for the complex.

Well, there's still a few weeks left 'till Sept 11th.

Maybe you'll figure it out, hopefully before the 11th hour comes 'round.

    Who knows.
