::said as meekly as possible:: I reeeeallly like the base of the real Tuntex tower and it would go really well with Taipei 101 when it is finally finished...

Although I can understand the desire to do fun and unique things with transportation, I think that the only way to make the split base look good would be to make a pretty elaborate base for the building... I am having a hard time visualizing it looking good against the scale of a tower that big. 41.gif

On the other hand when was the last time you posted anything that didn't turn out great? 3.gif

Actually, in certain cities in far East Asia (Osaka and Tokyo for sure - no idea about Taipei) there are TONS of buildings that straddle highways or that have offramps leading directly to parking garages - they range the gamut from awesomely futuristic to blandly ugly and only somewhat functional (on the way from Narita to Tokyo there's a big housing development with a garage connected to an elevated highway - in the evening rush hour it's a disaster).

Er... sorry for rambling!

The pond and resort hotel are great, SG! Another fine product off the line. Though the rowboat is a little odd in a city park. 3.gif

Just FYI... Just uploaded 3 more new prop packs.  These are used mostly in conjunction with the new BSC Farm Expansion Set, which is due for release this Friday...

Also, quite a while ago, Sepsis sent me a request to BAT his family cottage.  I did it, then forgot about it.. sorry.  It is included in the BSC BAT Props SG Vol 04, with 4 variations, on 3 different sized lots.

As to the tower... It's still under construction.  I MAY play with a second variation with the shopping mall as a base, but no promises.  I want to get the current one rendered, once I fix a few details, and see how I like it in game.  It's going to be a bear to render, as it is quite large.  I'm not sure if a second optional base will work, in a number of ways, but I'll look at it... 3.gif

I have lots and lots of SG props and I'm not sure if they are all necessary. These new prop packs, are they all new props? Are there any older SG props that I can remove?

There are a lot of new props, I know.  They have been underway for months, actually, and just all released at once as part of the Farm Expansion pack.   I actually considered holding off the Pond pack from last week, and the residentials, but then they would be numbered out of sequence and confusing.  And then there are a few of the new farms that actually call on them as well...

Some of the props in Volume 5 were previously used on the BLS turkey farm lots.  I had made a complete set for that series, and about half ended up on those farms, and were included in the lots, here and there.  Those lots will now be obsolete with the farming pack, but new ones will be issued with the new packs from BLS.  The new ones will not have the props, hence the need for this props pack.  And I added a bunch more to it as well, which will be seen on other farms.

If you look in \My Docs\Simcity 4\Plugins\BSC\BSCProps you will see all the prop packs are neatly named and arranged, for easy tracking.  They should, for the most part, be grouped by creator, and in volume order.  Nice, neat, and easy to keep track of.

Now that these prop packs are out, starting tomorrow you will see several mega multi packs of just the farm lots.  Much easier to DL 10 or 12 files all together, than 50 plus individual farms....

Any plans to make a Dennys in the future? Seems to be the only major US restauraunt that i've not come across for sc4 yet!

I always like more variety for my farms. Did you get to design any, SG?

About Dennys, I would like to see that eventually.

Here's an update picture of the tower.  It's rendered, on a lot, but I have several things that need fixing, and then another render.  From this view, I like the overall concept.  I am not at all happy with the crown, which I think I will scrap and start over.  Just doesn't blend with the building to me.

And the nitelites... yuck...  Getting a black surface to lite up in BAT is not fun...

Maybe I'll go make a Dennys and take a break from this... lol...

    Nice, simgoober.

I am a major fan of your creations. Nice to see you are helping out with the SBI.

    Dennys sounds good right now.

EDIT: Wow, I'm an idiot. I thought you were being serious about going to dennys, I complety missed the requests earlier in the thread. (smacks head on table repeatedly)

Hmm... the building is awesome, i.e. up to your usual standard. However, I absolutely don't like this split building thingy, at least not in this case. I wouldn't think twice about using both the side parts and the middle parts as separate mid-rise office towers, but in this constellation? I don't really think so...

Well, don't let that get you down, and don't take it as a criticism of any kind. This building looks incredibly great for what it is, but it's just not my personal taste, sorry.

Hmm, I like the style, but I'm just not sure it works well as a split building. I get the feeling though that this style would work REEALLY well as a large complex with a plaza and a base.

    But to each his own.

Just FYI, here is the picture that origonally inspired this building.  In the RW one, there is a large mall type complex at the base; I didn't know that when I started it.  I just thought it looked neat 3.gif

47.gif I wouldn't have thought that such a building exists in RL... wow. However, if you compare the RL version with your BAT, you will see that the gap is much smaller, which makes the real building look a tad less odd. With that wide gap that's currently in your BAT, I can't help thinking that the middle building is going to lose its grip and slide between the two side towers any moment. 3.gif

Question...I was reading through the posts from the last few pages and it was mentioned that some of the files for the RLS Homes were placed a level above others so that it was ensured they could be shared.  I used the installer and then moved all of the files for a particular home into a subfolder named for the particular home.  That folder was in a common folder containing all of your BATs/lots.  I haven't had a chance to play since then, but will this cause a problem?

BTW...I think you do fantastic work!

Do you think that the space between the two 'legs' of your SPI building is too spaced out. It seems to be to me when compared to the photo you posted. Also I wonder if the weight of the upper part of the buiding could be supported if the legs are too far apart.

looks funny. I got an idea for a building you can make a BSC Exteme Makeover:Simcity edition headquarter building to honor the show, Then maybe add a big bus in the parking lot. 17.gif

T Wrecks, there are actually a number of buildings like that in far East Asia... believe it or not! If you look at Skyscrapers.com or Skyscraperpage.com, you will note that several of the top 100 or so buildings under construction involve enormous arch structures.

I have no idea why that style isn't popular elsewhere... it makes for a very interesting building. Most do not however have roads running through the middle; there are many buildings in East Asia with roads running through cutouts/under the building, but not through such a large gap (that I have seen). Most buildings in the US that interact with roads simply span them, swallowing the road in enormous architecture instead of interacting with the road.

I would post pix, but I don't want to spam SG's thread. 9.gif

SimGoober, maybe lightening up the black texture would help... I can see that your design follows closely to the real one, where at the top the outer pannels of glass go to the ground.  However, since the texture is so dark it is hard to see this.  It might help with making the building look more stable, in which it would be.

    Just my thoughts.

    SG,

I'm having some trouble with the queries of the plopable Highgrove and Colonial.  When I plopped them, the queries worked, but the next time I played the game (and, actually, right after I plopped the BSC Farm Bureau) I noticed that the queries for these two lots didn't work.  Have you or anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks!
