I was on the STEX a little while ago and I saw those firehouses, and I have to say that those were greatly needed. They look really awesome and I am glad to be able to use them in my cities.

Ok, I've been playing with the Super8, and can't find any reason for that to be happening.  First, I thought the plop was trying to grow, but then I remembered when that bug rears it's ugly head you get blank lots withe the building name on it.  Other problems as well.

My best guess is you have a conflict of some sort with another lot.  It will be nearly imposible to nail it down, but somewhere in the forums, or MODs, Builderman posted a TGI conflict tool.  It lists any lots, props, etc that COULD have a conflict.  Not necessarily do they, but they could.  I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

One guess; do you have the NAM? I think that's what it is called.  It s the network add on.  There are known issues with that mod and BAT generated stuff.  BAT uses some of the same TGI numbers.  I think the Mod could be fixed, but it would be really tedious.

Here is something from a different angle I am working on.  It's a request by Evening, who was a winner in the BSC Villa Contest, and gets a building commisioned.  Urban townhomes was the request. There will be several color variations.  Some with brighter colors as well.

Tiring of commercial buildings? dissapointing, but i don't blame you, i would have long ago...Those are nice townhouses, they look like ones i see every day in Boston's Back Bay, all they need are the small shops and coffee houses in their basements, lol

I really like these houses, they're excellent.

In many ways they look similar to the ones you find in English seaside resorts, think Blackpool or Brighton. Often they've been converted into family run B&B's or guesthouses.

I have a suggestion though. Instead of them having a flat roof as at the moment, could you design a blue tiled sloping roof instead. Either each individual house could have a roof or there could be a roof running the entire length of the row (which I'd prefer). It would also allow you to (if you wanted) to add in attic conversions on some of the properties.

let me know what you think?

Bertrum, I modeled these after some I saw in a picture from Baltimore, MD.  They all have flat roofs there, so I stuck with that.  I might do some more with tile roofs, we'll see.  I'll get back to more commercial as well, I'm just side lined for the moment.  I already have a few more hotel concepts in the planning stages...

I've also got some more stripmall type shopping centers under development.  When they are done, there should be a different one everytime it grows.  Lots of variety...

The townhomes in Baltimore are interesting. You can drive for several miles and you see the exact same townhome (half flat, half round bay) over and over again, never ending except for the intersections. The only change is the brick color, which seems to change periodically.

Oh yeah, uh the Hilton.....I got upset with that, as the more I worked on it, the less I liked how it was going.  A preview render of the whole building just looks out of proportion.  I've put it aside for a bit, to get some fresh ideas.  I'll get back to it, and a couple other hotel ideas in a while.  Playing with more residential stuff for now.

here's the beginning of a three story version of the pic above.  I'll do a 2 story also.

Especially if you want a Simcity similar to a British city, whole sections of British inner cities are given over to Victorian red brick terrace rows. Unless of course if they were cleared away in the 1950/60s during the period of slum clerance. Then concrete towers were built in there place.

I love rowhouses of all kinds the ones in the Capital Hill area of DC where I live are very simliar to the ones in the rest of the country. There are also different rowhouse sections like the infamous Car Barn It used to be some type of big car repair shop but got turned into houses. It's worth about 500,000 bucks with 1700 square feet.

You also have other type of Capital Hill homes

I like the outskirts of Downtown DC's rowhouses.

But Dupont park has these huge rowhomes worth millions of bucks, those are ones SimGoober or one of you should consider making. The ones that I'm showing don't even compare to the ones I'm talking about.

This weeks lots are active.  I'll have some more row home types next week.  I'm also working on some typical lower income suburban townhomes.  These will have lots of minor variations, I've already rendered 12, and am playing with them on lots.  I'm making each unit a separate model, so when they are added to a  Building Family, they will randomly appear each time the lot grows.  No two lots should look alke!

Sounds good, I like the idea. Also i've just seen the rowhouses added to the STEX (I gave them a 10/10 naturally). It'd still be great if you changed them to all be one colour and added a roof along the length of the row.

I've added some photo's, you never know they may inspire you?
The bottom photo (of Sheffield, UK) doesn't do justice, the whole area at the bottom of teh hill is street after street of Victorian red brick terrace.

PS. A little tip - never attempt to ride a bike down this street, (Hunterhouse Road). It's far too steep, as my mates learnt when attempting to race down it on little kiddies tractors.

Well, I took a little break from the townhouses (Several are being tested), and went back to something I was playing with a couple weeks ago.  I Started a Sheraton Hotel, but ran into a snage on the upper floor design, which will be a restaraunt.  I think I've got it figured out now.  Here is a peak at the top floors; it's about 20 floors all together.

SG - The window shadows on that restaurant floor look a little weird . . You're doing it with a texture, right?

You should also scale up the hexagonal dome. It looks flat from the SC4 perspective.

Other, than that, w00t! More tall hotels!

Still a couple details to go.  yep , needs a couple vents from the kitchen.

I had to laugh at the shadows. I hadn't even noticed, but those are actually the tables in the restaraunt.  They line up perfectly with the windows, which is why they look like shadows.  Amazing how you don't notice something staring you in the face until someone else points at it.  I'll scale up the dome a hair, but it's not meant to be a peak...  I'll also look at re-arranging the tables a bit, so they aren't so symetriical.  Maybe I'll put people at them... hmmm....

It is looking good SimGoober! I have to admit, I didn't see the tables either, but until you mentioned it, I do seem them now. Strange... oh well.
