Wells by the Sea - #4 - The 2023 Water Incident & the Industrial Boom.
BaskB posted a topic in Cities: Skylines City Journals
#1 - International Beginnings Welcome to Wells by the Sea. A small village located just off the M1 motorway into the Capital city of Bristom (population circa 10 million) and placed in the valley forged over the centuries by the River Sheppey that runs from the west and the River Cross that flows from the South. Wells by the Sea isnt really known for anything other than it's lush fertile land that is perfect for farming, and the newly built (but as yet unopened) Bristom International Airport. It's this Large Airport development that is the central focus of things as Wells is expected to benefit both commercially and economically from this new airport and the newly elected Mayor Mr Bask is expecting great things to come. So an overhead view of this glorious valley Wells by the Sea is located in:- You can see the as yet unopened airport in the North East and if you look just a little closer just to the right and left of the Central M1 motorway you'll see the tiny village of Wells. Now of course lets take a look over the newly built International Airport:- Entry into the Airport via the Wellsway (Original I know ) Avenue and the Train Freight Terminal located in the foot of the piccy. Next up you have the Terminal 1 building with 2x Satelitte concourses located behind it, access to these is by state of the art driverless Subway trains. In the foreground you'll note the Bus Terminus and Passenger Train Stations that connects to the Bristom Main line. Next up the purpose built Cargo & Maintenance centre with secure access from the roundabout. In time it is expected this area will expand with the needs of the airport which is hoping to become one of the top 10 cargo centres in the world. While the airport is yet to officially open, CIMAir have already started to use the onsite facilities here (which is why the planes are located in hangers) and DHL have setup a large presence here due to the excellent links to the M1. And lastly for this initial posting we see the Angled overview. Bristom International has 3 Runways, 2 in West/East Parallel (for simultanious ops) and Runway 3 in a North/South direction crossing over Runway 2, this runway will likely be used for Cargo/Emergency operations only due to the proximity of the Hills in the North all but writing off Northerly approaches. It is unknown yet what is planned to move into the central area around the Wellsway but Mayor Bask says efforts will be placed elsewhere first. -
