Busy It's been busy in Evean Vansop. Take a look at these numbers: This is from what was our busiest day at Evean Vansop on Simtropolis... People are moving in... and moving up... but not moving on! It's been busy at the Performing Arts Center -- Grumpy Cat is in concert! It's always busy here at lunch time... The neighbors are busy wondering why this dude lives in a big box... The shopping center has seen better days, but the Sonic is still busy. That's because they have good onion rings and milkshakes half price from 2-4 on weekdays! Busy buying me a present? You should be! The kids are busy planning their trick or treating. Someone needs to cut me in for some Snickers! It's quiet here... everyone's busy playing paper football in the office! Speaking of trick or treat... this is a kid's dream neighborhood: houses close together so you can score LOTS of candy! Snickers... and Twix would be nice. Kit Kat and assorted Hershey would be good... Apartments will keep kids busy getting candy all night long... candy they, in turn, will bring to me! It's a busy week... start getting me your candy NOW!

Socially Awkward Yes, there's always something which doesn't fit in... Let's see who, or what, is socially awkward here in the suburbs surrounding the capital today... Looks like a pleasant suburban apartment here... but, here's the sad truth: NO ONE in this building plays SimCity!! AWKWARD!!!! These upscale condos look ok on the outside... ...but the truth is most of the residents here have not downloaded their dependencies! AWKWARD!!! A quiet leafy suburb... but, the ugly truth shall be revealed! The police and fire and ambulance will not come here at all... no matter what. Why? It is just outside the service area circles each draws around their stations. House on fire with crooks inside? No help for you!!! You wanna talk socially awkward? No one wants to go over to JD's house... he has the PROP POX!!!! If you want to cross this street, blue jays will swoop down and peck you on the head. Out shopping? Bring a hat... or, a helmet. How's this for awkward? In all of the offices with slanty walls, the occupants all walk diagonally to compensate... I can't tell you how many fights have broken out right here... they always start the same way: "Where do you wanna eat?" "I don't know. What do you want?" "What are you in the mood for?" "I don't know. Anything." "How about that one?" "No, I don't like that one." "Just pick..." "You pick..." And then it's go time! That awkward moment when the office party fires up the karaoke machine... How about the awkward moment when you get to the gas station and realize the gas tank hatch is on the other side? And then you drive back around and it's STILL on the other side??!! And finally (thankfully), how about that awkward moment when you work at Arby's but don't pay attention to where you are walking and end up next door working at Sonic? Oops!

Welcome to the Republic of Evean Vansop Schulmania’s roots date way, way waaaaay back before SimCity version 1 was just a twinkle in Will Wright’s eye. Back at the dawn of time, when I was in elementary school, when the first feline entered the Schulman house, some friends and I invented countries led by our various cats. Over time, all of these countries faded into history, save for Schulmania, which of course found new life in SimCity. These countries suddenly came back to the forefront during a cleanup of the room over the garage (neat people do not make these kinds of discoveries) and a folder was found containing old documents and correspondence from that bygone era. Please tell me you are not surprised by the feline motif on this folder! One of my friends had his country of Evean Vansop. Finding the folder has given me the opportunity to bring his country back to life in SimCity 4. Occasionally, I like to build more modern stuff than I do in Schulmania. I will now use Evean Vansop as my vehicle to do so. Updates will be intermittent when the mood strikes me. And there will be a page on the Schulmania website for this new country: http://schulmania.info/index_files/eveanvansop.htm. Here’s an interesting fact I uncovered whilst reading these ancient documents: the map of Evean Vansop actually includes the first ever reference to Schulmania. There were the Schulman Islands and a town of Schulmania. For the record, my country was not Schulmania in those days; it was named after the BFA Governor-General, H. J. “Hoppy” Franciflora, since this was a few years before the Supreme Wirdle was born. Behind the letters is the first poster size map of what would become Schulmania (done in Technicolor with the aid of Crayola markers). Many place names and some landform features now (or will be) in use in Schulmania come from this map. Evean Vansop now has its own SC4 map and I have done some work on it. When I am in the mood for more modern cities – suburbs and urban areas – or roads with cars on them I will head over to Evean Vansop. This thread will be updated every so often. It is not my goal to make a super detailed urban core with hyper realism and all that. It will be more of a venue for me to do something different. I hope you enjoy it!
