Let's go for a trip, heading south-east of Prague. Our destination is Zlín, a small industrial town that is absolutely unique in European context. Almost entirely built by Bata shoe manufacturing company, the town offers many factory buildings, workers' houses, hotel, cinema and company HQ, all built in a distinctive style. I start with one of the manufactures, built in place of an older one, damaged during WWII, in the years just after the war (ca. 1946-48). It's based on a reinforced concrete frame with typical 6,15 x 6,15 metre module, but innovated using higher floors and wider bays (6,15 x 7,85 m). The number 44 is actually a position in carthesian grid, so 4th row and 4th column.
