I'm actually a programmer by profession but I switched jobs because the presure was wearing me out after 12 years. Luckily my job do not only involve XP but general network maintanance as well. So I'm safe for a while. -

I have not read through everything posted here so excuse me if this has been posted. I would like to see a fuel system in the next game with plopable garages and fuel lines. You should adjust fuel prices and tax on fuel. -

Hey man N_o_Body it is good for XP to be so complicated. That way guys like me can make a killing doing as little as possible while earning a lot of money. Imagine being able to play SC4 all day and getting paid for it. -
I must say that it runs fine on my system, even with ultra large cities. I have discovered that if I turn shadows to low (off) the scrolling issue goes away. I so love this game.

This is according to the Graphics Rules.sgr file. # The Radeon series has a very slow path for partial # depth buffer copies. This has apparently been # fixed for 9500 and later models in the latest drivers, # but cannot be fixed on previous Radeons because of # hardware limitations. Althoug I personally think it is still a problem with later models.

What amazes me is the fact that the online community in general suffers from these symptoms. I'ts sad when you have to teach common curtousy to someone capable of using a computer. *Sigh* humanity truly is the worst virus ever to hit this planet.

Hmmm...maybe it is serious case of multiple personalities? Imagine that. -
Oih, it seems we have a bunch of teenies running cities from the look of things. Damn, I feel old all of a sudden. I'm 33 and I live in South Africa which is blatantly shunned by Maxis in their games but we still love them.

Hello to all mayors and mayorettes. I see that performance with SC4 is quite an issue. I am running the game on a P4 2.4 with 512MB ram on a Epox 4PLI mobo, a 40GB hdd (yeah I know it's time for an upgrade) and an ATI 9800 SE. Not a great system compared to some of you guys but it does its job for now. With this I manage to run the game with all settings on high except traffic and it runs pretty good. Not perfect but good enough given the system specs and my experience with previous SC versions. The only real irretation for me is the jerkiness when scrolling at some zoom levels but what can you expect when you run a game dseigned for a Nvidia card on an ATI. So I have some advice to offer and maybe some of you can share some tips of your own. 1. Create a new user account for gaming if you're not already doing so. 2. On this account disable everything that is not essential for your game to run. Especially visual themes and any eye candy that makes XP look good but run bad. 3. Go through your services and get rid of anything that does not absolutely need to be there. Please don't do this if you don't know what you are doing. Rather ask someone with experience for some help if you are not sure. 4. Go through the registry and make sure that nothing is loading at startup that isn't essential for your computer to function properly. Again this is for advanced users only. Get a friend to help if you don't know what to look for. 5. Do a scandisk and a defrag and continue to do this on a regular basis (about once every two weeks at a push). 6. Reboot and log in with the game account you created. You should now notice a reasonable increase in performance. 7. In extreme cases it might be neccesary to reinstall the game on the new account but it's not a rule. I hope this is of some help for those of you experiencing performance problems or just wanting that extra bit more. Please feel free to add to this list if you have some good tips on how to increase performance. Chhers.

Greetings fellow mayors and mayorettes. This is just a short note to say hello and let you know that all your cities will be assimilated by the Jedi Mayor forces from the Dubagh region as soon as we finished the production of our giant robots.
