The problem with making accurate scale maps of ANY area is making the map big enough to get enough detail in it. To quote an extreme example, the maps of THE WORLD on the STEX are quite large, but if you place just ONE hospital, school, police station, or whatever, it totally obliterates half of Europe - this is NOT realistic is it ??? What is the point of having an expertly made scale map of your home area, when if you play it and simulate building a new residential area in YOUR backyard as it were - your houses will effectively be of gigantic proportions and cover an area of perhaps 500,000 sq Kms - I don't see as how this is any way realistic SC4 is a GAME - it is therefore a fantasy world, and building a GIGANTIC house on a scale map is fantasy to the extreme I hasten to add that I applaud the talent and hours of work spent by my colleagues who make these kind of maps, but I really don't see as how they are realistic in terms of SC4

The Alt Gr key - which T Wrecks refers to, is found immeadiately next to the space bar on the right hand side, at least on an english UK keyboard. I invite others to say where it can be found on other keyboards, as this is the answer to the users problem

You say the UPLOAD box doesnt appear ??? The key presses you refer to are for rendering a map ?? Please be more specific and we will be able to help you

Ricardo You MUST also download the config bmp that came with the map - thats the little image with red green and blue squares on it. You MUST place it in the folder along with the greysacle jpg of the map that you downloaded. Also check that it IS called config and not any other name config1 or any other name will NOT work. The error you describe is most definately a problem with the config bmp - unfortunately there are maps on the STEX where the user who uploaded it has made a mistake ......... sad but true If you follow this and still have problems - you will need to describe step by step what you are doing and one of us will be able to help you - its usually something that can be easily resolved - but SC4 is like a good woman - you must do as she says to the letter !!!!

I think you will find that the maps on the STEX are, or at least should be, jpg greyscale - all mine certainly are. If any map is done in bmp then its an error on the part of the person who uploaded it - as it says on the upload page that it is to be a jpg Rendered Screenshot of Map (required, 100kb limit) 100kb limit Custom config.bmp (optional, 100kb limit) Attach your map file as a greyscale .jpg 2.5 Mb

Commited acts of stupidity ??? Havent we all !!! Wasn't it Einstein who said that there is a very thin line between genius and insanity ???? My replies to you were certainly centered around the fact that there ARE members of this website running illegal or cracked versions of the game - it would be ridiculous to think otherwise. As soon as you said you were living/working in South Korea, I regret that alarm bells started ringing - but nowhere in my replies did I ACCUSE you of having an illegal copy - simply that it was a possibilty. knyght You aknowledge the fact that Korea copies almost everything, but give no consideration to the fact that YOU may have an illegal copy - and quite frankly, to suggest that MAXIS send you a LEGAL copy to replace what COULD be an illegal copy .......... well I'm sorry but that comment defies expletive or rational comment !!!

Personally, I think the problem is quite simple ... SC4 would appear to be female, - so to prevent these nagging little problems, all you have to do is talk nicely to her, agree with everything she wants to do, never, repeat NEVER tell her she is wrong, and generally just sit back and be patient when she is having a bad day !!! With a little compassion, and patience she will eventually love you as much as you love her
