  1. Statue of Liberty

Good job, I like your rendition of Liberty Island too :D
  2. A BBC article on Americans and Alcohol

I think it's because kids were raised the wrong way, to begin with. When you're forbidden to have anything, you want it twice as bad. So, when you aren't "allowed" to have alcohol at home, you can't wait to go out and get drunk at your 1st given opportunity. I'm glad I was never raised that way.
  3. SimCity 3000 (Unlimited) appreciation thread!

SC3k was my least favorite. I really didn't like it at all. I also couldn't stand how nearly impossible it was to create farms, if there was a stitch of pollution nearby. The music was pretty cool, though.
  4. Road To Avenue Left Turn Lane

textures don't match whatsoever...you'll want to rework this one
  5. Simple question

could be lots of things: - R$ taxes are too high - Pollution - The demand ratio of R/I is balanced at that point - Is there a water supply?

  7. Timing of SCS

it's probably being done now to get back at Monte Cristo.
  8. We Love SCS!

the gingerbread houses...just brilliant! I'm going to build one right next door to a meth clinic.
  9. does City Life have a modding community, and how easy is it to add things to the game?
  10. NAM: Requests

Could there be any possibility for a draggable dirt road mod? It would eliminate the need for those road replacement mods on STEX, which don't work properly anyway.

Not surprising, considering each version had more to do and eventually was 'too complex' for people. Another factor is that a lot of people that played the game back then no longer play games or would rather stick with an earlier version. quote> I think that yet another factor is that simulation games just aren't popular anymore. Everything is about FPS and RTS/combat. These kinds of games are nothing but wallflowers. As for the hopes of modding this game, I think that some people are dangerously optimistic about what can be done about this game. Simply making a bunch of great looking community-made buildings to drop into the game isn't going to cut it, when the game rules suck. I think the expression is "you can't put lipstick on a pig".
  12. The GTA4 thread

Rockstar once again shows that they are simply the best!
  13. Paris Hilton Out of Jail

the gov't controls the media...the gov't likes to maintain a "stupid" public to take their attention away from other things...enough said.
  14. Obviously the answer is "not whatsoever" For all of the time I've been on Simtropolis, I kept hearing about how Maxis has been logging in to this site and checking out the responses (with possibly the inclusion of Will Wright himself) - obviously they didn't give half a damn about what the community wanted, just what the marketing forecasters predicted.
  15. kill me now: "Or if players are feeling happy, they can build a Fun City filled with Ferris Wheels, Gingerbread Houses and Chocolate Factories!"
  16. I mostly want to see the micromanagement stuff you proposed - but even furthermore, depending on where regions are located (real usage & regional recognition of agriculture, mining, lumber, petroleum deposits, etc.)
  17. I like the idea, a lot - I'd see this as becoming more of a pay-per-month MMORPG though. What would really be cool is for Spore to progress into SC5. That way, you have a solar system of planets that can be zoomed into, furthermore into continents, regions and cities. That could probably not happen for a long time, though, given the resources..
  18. Simcity.ea.com

it feels so weird to see this as "official".
  19. What you HATE about SC4...

-Omission of water & river tool, inability to create lakes above sea level -Sawtooth edges along diagonal roads -Illogical curves of highways and rail -No "undo" for terraforming mistakes -No way to add additional menu branches for community content -the crashing...
  20. An Intelligent Turn To Take

It should be implemented as an entirely separate series, then. Personally I don't care for a game that focuses on sociology, and combining it with what Sim City is about is too much to handle, so instead they're going to dumb down Sim City gameplay to include it. That's where I lose interest. I would feel the same way even if it were done by the old Maxis team, with graphics better than SC4.
  21. I'd hope it looks exactly like SC4, except with buildings that can go on angles and along curved roads.
  22. HK Ma On Shan Public Housing

    very interesting looking building!
  23. Paris Hilton Out of Jail

it's not right that she's not getting the REAL prison experience, like every other citizen who ends up there does...
