I feel that the guy who said that it would get really really cold is somewhat retarded. Its in India........ Like I have said in previous posts India has no ultra high rises such as Taipei 101, SWFC, or any large high rise metropolitan areas. Since they are becoming the office of China, (and the US), office space like that I believe would be in demand. I believe that India has reached the transition in large cities where they can no longer build outwards, but now need to build upwards. -

Calling it the Freedom Tower is just one of those names that is a morale and confidence booster to Americans. And it is one of those Bush subliminal messages saying kill the terrorists. Why don't they name is something like the Silver Tower or the New York Trade center. These may be crappy, but they are a start and a lot better than the Freedom Tower

Flanig307, this is not about patriotism or american pride, but how we will compensate for the lost business and jobs that were housed in the old towers. If people were to build a memorial there with no real estate, just hink about the losses. In time, people will come to think of this event as in the past. IF you think about it, Pearl Harbor was a monumental event with around the same losses as 9/11. A question, Do you think as strongly of Pearly harbor as you do of 9/11?

scrap the current project and build new buildings there. that's my thought. If they were to build a glass building, then they should build one like one bryant park, pic shown in my first post.

The pic that louisville327 posted makes me actually think that the new design look ok! It doesn't look that bad when there are two tower. I believe they should really consider building 2 towers

People can;t get over the fact that terrorists are just giving up on the US because they think bush is pathetic. NYC will not be the target of the next large terrorist attack. That's what I believe ^^^what he said^^^

No offence to you and those who died that day, but why the heck would you build a forest in the middle of manhattan in the midst of the busiest place in the US or maybe the world(dunno). If you were to not redevelop the land, you would be wasting a peice of prime real estate Its a good idea ToxicPiano, but I believe that the land should not be put to waste.

Isn't there some place in Rio that is all painted one color according to the street? I think they are slums that are painted to make them look prettier to tourists, too tired to find pic. -

If you think about it, doesn't the Burj stick out of nowhere also, I think the only city where skyscrapers can pretty much be built anywhere is New York. -
Personally, I think that both designed suked. The old one had a hollow top, and the new one looks like a shiny box with the sides cut out plus it looks horrible, just like the original WTC. If you really want to see a great building, search for one bryant park or go here amazing yes, and I also think they should at least make it a bit taller. Don't want china getting in the way.

This building I think from reading that article there has been given the green light ( thats if you clicked on the link on the first page. I now see that it doesn't actually look too bad. I believe the only reason you guys think it looks hideous is the background of the sketch. The guy who designed this has created some kikass buildings, just check out his site. This building will stick out of nowhere, but still may be the tallest building in the world. It actually does look ugly, but the rendering can always change. I think he tried to base it of the coroscant super towers -

By the way the proposed height for the Burj is 705m and the proposed height for the Nodia is 710, I think the Burj guys'll just make the spire higher to be the tallest in the world. Who knows, this'll be a good clean fight(or not). By the way, both towers are proposed to be 160 floors -

OMG WTF how is that a convention center, thats the poorest planning and design ever, it looks just like that elephant building.They both look like garbage, and bricks randomly put together with a bit of bad decoration. EDIT:Is that a baseball field I see next to the convention center??
