  3. Internet Cafe Karaoke

    Version 1.0.0

    75 Downloads

From Rideau Street in dwntown Ottawa, I bring you two defunct stores:- 1. Internet Cafe Karaoke (in black) - Despite the name, no Karaoke. Established by an enterprising Korean, it was one of the busiet stores in town, no least as you could stay there night and day. Sadly, the advent of the mobile phone pulled the rug on it and it was gone by about 2012. 2. Castle Shawarma - Replaced by another fast food restaurant. ...And, yes, the building really does have canary yellow panelling on the outside.
  4. Seeing Help

My Building Architect Programme has broken down. When I try to start it, all I get is a black square and a line of big arrows pointing upwards... and then it falls over. Anyone have any ideas?
  5. Seeing Help

I HAVE THE ANSWER. This secret button on GOG causes a reoad of damaged files!
  6. Tinseltown Christmas+Marie Antoinette

    Version 1.0.0

    56 Downloads

What sort of nutcase town has not just one, but TWO stores, dedicated to selling Christmas decorations 365 days a year? Twee-obsessed Ottawa, of course! 1.Tinseltown Christmas Emporium (red) - One of two stores in town selling Christmas decorations every day of the year 2. Marie Antoinette (pink) -Selling "shabby chic" And, no, I am not kidding - they really do exist and, yes, they really are painted in those disgusting, garish, tasteless colours. (Check it out if you don't believe me!)
  7. Crosstown Traffic and Birdman Music

No, it didn't actually sell weed itself, just all the accessories.
  8. Crosstown Traffic and Birdman Music

    Version 1.0.0

    62 Downloads

Based closely on 593 Bank Street, Ottawa I bring you:- - Crosstown Traffic (right hand store) - A hippie emporium. This hidden gem from a bygone era supplied all the accessories for smoking cannabis right down to cigarette papers and comics about getting high for 30 years, all ru by the last of the true hippies. Sadly, full legalisation seems to have driven him out of business. Closed its doors finally in Spring 2023. - Birdman Music (left hand store) - Trading in obscure, hard to find lps, DVDs and secondhand records, particularly mellow ones that one might listen to whilst getting high.
  9. Seeing Help

I actually have a second computer, a Mac Quicksilver bought in 1999. It has outlasted about ten laptops now, but sadly, it won't connect to the internet any more.
  10. Seeing Help

There are always, endless utterly unwanted software updates.
  11. Fancy Dress Store and Watchmakers

    Version 1.0.0

    57 Downloads

From the children's TV series, "Mr. Benn" (1971), I present:- 1. Fancy Dress Shop - Run by a wzard, its fitting rom has a door with a portal to a majic kingdom and other realms 2. Watchmakers (I have endeavoured to get the colouring correct) (The stores can be seen at 2 minutes and 13 seconds through the video below)
  12. Filofax and TM Lewin

    Version 1.0.0

    45 Downloads

These are a couple of stores based on Covent Garden in London - 68 Neal Street to be precise. Whilst Filofax was there, I admit that TM Lewin, when they existed never had a store there though. And so, I present to you:- - Filofax - Every kid wanted to be a stockbroker with his bottle of Perrier and his Filofax in hand in the 1980's. Sadly, those days are long gone. Filofax still exists, primarily as an online seller, although it does still have a couple of stores in places like the USA. Do I miss my Filofax? You bet - left it in a telephne booth for only a minute, but in that time, someone had snatched it. - TM Lewin the shirtmakers. Beautiful shirts, you'd walk into the office as a stylish Zebra in a TM Lewin shirt, although, admittedly, they had amongst the rudest staff on the planet, so no tears shed here for their collapse into administration and closure a couple of years back.
  13. Garden with outside toilet & shed

    Version 1.0.0

    71 Downloads

An English suburban garden featuring:- - Outside toilet (the "lavvy") at the end of a crazy paving path - Shed with window and door - Tree - Garden bench - Two vegetable plots
  14. Version 1.0.0

    50 Downloads

Based on buildings in Westbourne Grove, London, near the junction with Queensway, I bring you:- - Mangia Tutto - An Italian patisserie - A local Conservative Association Actually, Mangia Tutto and the Westminster North Conservative Association were never contemporaries. A late 1980's/ early 1990's boundary changed moved it outside the constituency so the association sold off the semi-derelict, cramped building which it could not afford to repair any way. The actual net door neighbour at the time was a bookmakers, but this would make no sense in SimCity where betting can been banned under city ordnances. ...And, for those who hate the Tories, feel free to bulldoze it as many time as you like!!!
  15. Cafe Parisiene

    Version 2.0.0

    50 Downloads

A high end, French style, cake and cafe bakery, inspired by the Le Pain Quotidien in Brussels. (Unfortunately, the tiling inside made the chairs and tables almost invisible so I had to change it)

  19. Show us what you are working on in SimCity 3000!

Blockbusters and FADS The Commodore Cinema Littlewoods and HMV Cora - A Vegetarian Restaurant Renaissance Variety - Selling videos, books and computer games Banque Natonale De Canada Revoluton Bistro and Pizza Foxtons Estate Agents Rymans the stationer Turner Wallcoverings Sketchleys/Supasnaps Labrooke Grove Taxis and Laundrette Piazza Al Fresco Cafe The Wellington Pub and Chaudhary The Green Grocers Familiprix, a chain of Quebec pharmacies Cafe Parisiene, a high end cake shop
  20. What's wrong with the Royal Bank Of Canada?

Ummm... I can only find a "Sow us wat you're working on" for SC4, not for SimCity 3000
  21. Blockbusters and FADS

    Version 1.0.0

    50 Downloads

Based on the shops on Seven Sisters Road in North London, I bring you:- - Blockbusters, a small franchise store which is complete with a dropbox to the left of the front door. Sadly, there is only one branch left in existence now. - FADS, a British DIY store that was taken over and now seems almost extinct. This was a division of AG Stanley, the large British builders' merchants who were famous for inventing the Stanley Knife (known as a "boxcutter" in the USA) The group's founder and owner was so tired of giving 40% plus discounts on anything he sold in line with the industry rates that he founded F.A.D.S. to sell directly to the public... with FADS being short for the "Fuck-All-Discount-Store", and, true to its name, it never ever ever gave discounts to anyone, not even to Buckingham Palace which is why they were able to sell to everyone at incredbly low prices. Incredibily, anyone could literally write a cheque to its full name of the store and the bank had to accept it.
  22. Why no Trixie Awards for the last 7 years?

If dwindling numbers is your concern, why not have one contest for ALL the SimCity versions, not just design but original ideas as well? SimCity'3000's design fatures might be limited, but I still think that I am doing OK on it.
  23. Why no Trixie Awards for the last 7 years?

Ummm... I don't have SimCity 4, only SimCity 3000 and SimCity 2000. (By the way, what about the original SimCity? There was a certain beauty to its simplicity)
  24. Commodore Cinema

Closely based on the EMI Commodore Cinema that once stood at the start of Orpington HIgh STreet, but which was, sadly, demolished long ago.
