Just a small update of the Londonderry area in NE Edmonton. I've laid alot of housing in the area... and this medium map is about 80% finished. Pursoo : I don't know where you get your ideas... Provinces in Canada have total control of there resourses. So I doubt Ontario sells Alberta's oil. Aswell, Ontario probably does have R$$$ housing. But also the only true ghetto's in Canada occour in southern Ontario. As for your economy your increasing your debt quite fast and you have alot of corruption in your government. As for Alberta, it is the only Province or State in the West to be debt free. And each year we get billions of extra dollars into the black. It also helps budgeting for $40-45 a barrel when it sells at $70. I guess thats a few extra billion for us. And to leave you on a good note. Remember....people move to Alberta from Ontario....in the thousands each year. Not the other way around. if you would like to continue this debate.... please make your own forum and keep Ontario off of this CJ.

Packersfan : The demension are very different from one block to another. but I would say 4 x 9 on average. And it all came down to the scale I decided to use. I find that commercial lots are to small on SC and residential lots are to big. So it really depends on your viewpoint of what you are trying to recreate. Pursoo : I would assume someone should do southern ontario. Shame is it is endless boring sprawl with the only sign of a landmark in one city. Wodsworth : Any questions please ask. I would be glad to help if ever needed Shaggy01ca : Edmonton has taken in many towns over its history. I can see in the next 20yrs Edmonton taking in another 10-15 into city limits. Other notable ones in the past are Jasper Place, Beverly, and Strathcona. All older areas of the city that at times where there own cities.

Time for a regional pic updates. You can see the new areas come together. Plus I added thousands of residential on the north end. Due to the regions large size these aren't the most detailed pics. But when Sherwood Park nears its completion road wise I will probably have some large linked pics of the region.

Still at .500 , ah well my team sucks on paper and trades are impossible.... Just sit and watch for the outcome.... Next season we should have a draft...for the first 5 players on each team... who arrives at the chat/draft session gets to pick. Those who dont get a PC to pick for them.... Just an idea Knowing the most about hockey on ST would then be an advantage....

Sherwood Park - Sept. 5th I've put in alot of hours so far and the suburb is coming along great. After doing so many roads for all of Edmonton it's much easier when confronted with curved areas. I know many tricks to get the recreated look. Here is the progress so far. Maybe 20% of the areas roads are done. You can almost tell where my mapped version ends...I have to look up the outer areas of the expansion for the recreation...

Edmonton Sept 2nd 05 A small update but just to show an hour or twos work on the Sherwood Park expansion. There will be alot to come...

abcd : I can't upload it to the STEX becuase it is all made by hand. There is no black and white Jpeg or anything to use for it. Just a blank region file that is over 20,000kb.

Expansion Begins I've started laying out the roads and terraforming Ellerslie road. Again in the real Edmonton this area is under a huge expansion. To lay out many of the new roads I will have to look at other sources. But for now I've layed out most on my 2yr old map. Also by expanding Highway2 (main highway to Calgary and south) I was able to include Gateway Park. Gateway Park is at the south entrance to the city. It includes an information center, park area, and large historic oil derrick. Leduc #1 the first derrick to crack oil in Alberta in 1947. Here is a picture of Leduc no.1 at Gateway park, and what I've managed to build tonight along Ellerslie Rd.

Expansion I decided to expand the region. Today while doing some of the southern edge of the region aswell as looking at the new highway 2 / Anthony Henday drive interchange I thaught it would be worth a try to include the area of Ellerslie Road which has some huge housing development. And while expanding why not inlcude Sherwood Park. A major part of Edmonton in real life. The real Edmonton region is made up of just over 1million people. My old borders included about 700-750k of that million. Now I'll be able to include well over another 50,000. I know the region of 2yrs is now over half finished and at the length of time it has taken' for that expansion may not be the right thing to do... But I don't see SC5 anytime soon. So there is plenty of time to continue and finish this hobby. Here is a preview of the new size of the map. And the old and new borders in prespective of each other.

Here is a picture of development which is growing threw the north side. The city is now around 450,000 and growing at a steady pace. R$$ demand is fairly high which allows me to expand the region. Without me recreating com and ind areas I can't build R$$ since the demand drops. Also this CJ was due for some region views...

Edmonton - August 30 2005 This is a small update. But I'm starting to put some hours of developement into the city. It's been a busy summer with work, family, vacations, and UCS2. These two pictures are of South Edmonton Common (at the south enterance of the city) and South Park Center just north of the Common. Some of the stores that have been placed will be replaced as I get new BATs that are more fitting. Also this area is 40minutes from where I live so I don't get to see it often. This is the way Edmonton's commercial is manily built now-a-days. More open space malls. I'm not a big fan of them. Especially come winter. Anyways here is the small update....one of many more to come as the 2yr old CJ is about half finished. South Edmonton Common - 1st Draft South Park Center - 1st Draft

Don't be surprised to see an update soon. I have been working on the region of late. But I've also been playing SC alot less. The thing is, I work on many different areas of teh city at once. Adding small additions to the already worked on areas. So its hard to add an update when some of these areas have already been shown in a little less detail. But it's been long enough. Please if anyone has any request. Just ask. I won't be able to fulfill all. But maybe one or two. As always thanks for keeping posted to this 2yr old CJ.

< Angry GM The Saturna Devils have hired a new coach after there 2 game losing streak. Team management and ownership consider any losing streak a disgrace to the city and its hockey fans. Saturna's GM also announces to the league a request for trade offers.

UCS2 - Neptune Bay Members Thread This is a thread for UCS2 Members only. Please don't post here unless your in the region. A place to ask questions and post news. I will use his area to post news often for all of us who need it. Also for when we discuss new plugins and ideas for the region we will do it here and not on the CJ. We will reserve the CJ for a show case of our work and for the rest of ST. Reasons to use this thread. - To ask any questions about the region. - To look for news on the region. - To post if you have built a Landmark. - To add your ideas for plugins. - To discuss issues about the region. - To check when DL's are ready for the region. Again Turn one is ready to start. Download the plugins and region from here. http://www.simcitysphere.com/UCS/ And for the City Journal https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64578&pageNo=1&num=30 UCS2 Members Turn 1

UCS2 - Neptune Bay - Members Thread

Thank You Members UCS2 - Neptune Bay has come to an end... Due to a few reasons I have decided not to push forward with the region despite some mebers being ready to move forward. I am confident the region would have continued to grow. To the members ready to continue I am sorry for the end of the region. But if you read my reasons i hope you understand my decision. I consider UCS2 a great success that lasted the better part of the summer. It was only shedualled to be played until September at its fullist.... - Many people had busy summer scheduals which took them away from the game at times and aswell as some members not keeping in contact with me for there intentions, I wasn't sure where many members stood. - I found I had to remind many people over and over on deadlines and many rules along the way. Despite them being posted on this large forum many times over. - The region had many great members and honestly I was surprsed at the quality of some peoples cities. For members who played it feel free to continue the 3mil+ region into what you would like to shape it. There is plenty of land to grow on and shape the region to your own if you desire. - I will be playing a smaller roll on ST in the months to come. And may try to plug away at my Edmonton region here and there. I just didn't have the time to put in 20 + hrs into something that was a hobby. - With the regions Commercial and Residential demand crashes I feel this turned many members away from playing. As it lost the fun in not being able to create mani stream basic cities when you have no R$$ or Co$$$. I found this one reason for me to move on from Saturna to my new city last turn. Mnay or most cities in the region stopped growing in many regaurds and at the same time so did player participation. - Any member is welcome to take over the region and host it there self. I won't be playing either way. But I would be happy to help someone get it going again. - To everyone that played. Thank you.... I hope you had fun and this was a different experience for you on SimCity4 and Simtropolis. Also UCS2 spawned many other multi-plyer regions. I know some are having a hard time getting started or drawaing members. Please give them a try if you enjoyed this region. -

UCS2 - Neptune Bay - Members Thread

Turn Length : Started out at 2weeks. I had it set as such due to knowing how long people take. Then the faster players wanted very short turns. Turn 5 will most likely go back to a 2 week period. When I get back we will wrap up to 4 and begin turn 5. Turn 5 : It seems many are behind this turn. So to keep things open and rolling we will start turn 5 late in just over 1 week. If I don't see many of the missing cities come in the we will see what conclusion we are left with. Also as for getting peoples help I have tried that once or twice never to see one ounce of the work they took over ever completed. Excluding BourneId's title header for the CJ. I am not growing tiresome of the work. I am growing tiresome of the work I shouldn't have to do. Chasing people around, answering questions that have be answered in post over and over, reminding most every when deadlines are, and when the deadline come waiting the extra hr here and hr there for people to just barely get it in leaving me to stay up several hours later then I want and losing an entire evening to just doing an update that should take an hr or two. -

Turn 5 -x- Due to both the members thread and the City journal drying up, aswell as only a few cities out of nearly 30 being handed in this turn I am putting the region on hold. At the end of other turns I constantly reminded people to hand in there cities or have to tell them when a tunr is up despite it being posted. This has turned into a job for me and not a game. And by all means I want to continue this. But if most are losing interest I am not going to push people. I am going on holidays from Saturday to Thurday. When I get back one of the first things I will do is check this thread. The regions future is pending on what interest is shown. All and all I consider UCS a success with most of a huge map filled with a huge number of players. The first 4 turns had a huge ratio of cities being handed in. Perhaps turn 5 will be a speed bump in a continueing region. For the couple of people who have handed in there cities. I'm sorry for this delay. If you wish to continue turn 5 from a week from now I am more then dedicated to you as always. We could easily go from 30 members to 10 and take this region in any direction people want. Even making it more complex which is easier to do with smaller numbers of players. Either way post your thaughts in the next week. We will see where we go from there. Thanks for 4.5 great turns and hopefully a growing future. -
UCS 2 Neptune Bay Multiplayer Region Description - This will be a very large multi-player region starting out with over 20 people playing and others joining as the turns pass. I will give an over view of the rules and how things work. - This region is going to be SimCity at it's best. With each player earning everything they have in there city by running a proper budget. Along with a few added plugins and peoples skill this City Journal will be a show case of many cities threwout the region. - This is a City Journal for all members if USC2 Neptune Bay to post there work in. Post when you want and how you want. Rules and Guidelines No Cheating - Cheating will result in being taken out of the game. - No using money lots or weaknesspays. - No adding your own plugins. - No U drive it missions to gain rewards and money. - No using ctrl+x - No neighboring city deals. It has to many issues for a multi player region. Land Alterations - Small alterations to the land are allowed. This may be flattening an area or making your coast straighter in areas. - No large scale alterations are allowed. This means no large scale terraforming. - No Altering the land along any of your cities edges at all. - God mode trees are allowed in small amounts as fillers for parks or to fill in small areas of your city. Using them in mass amounts will be considered cheating. - Don't build over top mountains. Build all around them but don't run your city up to the peak. Most all cities will have noticable areas to whcih to build. Turns, Cities and Exchanging Files - Cities can only be played for 50yrs. Stop your city on Jan 1st at the end of each turn. - Turns will end every 2nd Sunday. For example turn one will end Sunday June 26th, and files should be ready on Monday the 27th. - Players will have 2 weeks to finish there 50 yr turns. - Once your cities turn is up I will need the file to put it into the region. Once the files are assembled I will place the new version of the region up for download and the following turn along with any new plugins. - You can get me the file by msn'ing me at newjersey73@hotmail.com or e-mailing it to me on newjersey73@gmail.com . - If you miss getting your city to me or you are to busy to finish your turn on time you will be able to get it to me at the end of the next turn. You end up missing the turn. - The updated region and updated plugins will be abailable @ http://www.simcitysphere.com/UCS/ Unplayed Cities - Cities that aren't played for several turns will have a few options. - A new player can play the city. - A current member can take it over for the turn. - If the city has little RCI impact on the region it may be restarted. This is something that should't happen. Plugins - No adding your own plugins. If this becomes an issue you will be removed from playing. The reason for this is we need to be on the same page so all cities are loadable by each player. - Back up your normally used plugins folder. - To play the region you will have to move your normal plugins folder from your sim city folder and place the UCS2 plugin folder in place. If you wish to play one of your other regions simply take out the UCS2 plugins and place your normal folder back in place. - Plugins we chose are to be slight additions to the original game. We won't use any radical additions that change the game to much. - After each turn mayors will be allowed to sudjest one or two plugins that they would like to be added. A few will or may be selected. - When each turn is ready to start there will be plugin additions available for download or a new plugin folder with all the previous plugins along with the new ones available along with the updated region. - No replacing NAM settings or eye candy mods or plugins aswell. Other Mixed Rules - Once a landmark is built in a city it can't be built in any other city in the region. Running a budget makes saving for a landmark really hard so these won't go fast. Once you have built your Landmark please post it on here to show it has been made. - 2 Landmark limit for any city. - 1 Landmark per turn allowed. - If you need to contact another player in the region use there Simtropolis PM unless you have other means to get ahold of them. But don't ask for the email unless they ok it. - Players can only play one city. - New players are welcome at the beggining of each turn. Connections and Neighboring Cities - For the first turn all neighboring cities will have there connections layed out for them. - No adding connections to your neighboring cities. - You can add connections if there is no one occupying the city its leads to. - Do not build to many connections to cities that are not occupied. If you want an example of how many you should build look at previoulsy made connections between established cities. - If you and your neighbor would like to add a connection of any sort you must discuss it with them first. If you do decide to add a conection let one person lay it out. Then when the region is updated it will be ready for both cities. - You have the freedom to build in any style you want. But for the regions sake if you would like keep an eye on what your neighbor is doing and even try to blend you work. No one likes endless Highrises next farms. But agin you have the freedom to do what ever you want within the rules of UCS2. _________________________________________________________________ There will be added definitions and rules over the next few days. I'm sure I've missed a few and questions that are braught up will shed light on anything that needs to be added here. Here is a list of the original 24 players. And a view of Neptune Bay. Also a note. Some cities may be a few months in. This is due to the time it took me to terraform the land. In this case still play to the Jan 1st the 50th year. UCS2 - Neptune Bay is available for download now for UCS members only @ http://www.simcitysphere.com/UCS/ For UCS2 Members we have our own thread for questions and an area to discuss things. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64592&pageNo=1&num=30
