Everything looks great but running laggy
Gable Patterson replied to Gable Patterson's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Ok that worked. Now the issue is that its only showing me one item to be compressed which is a STEX building I downloaded. I tried to focus it on the folder where all my NAM stuff is, but it still just shows that building. Do the DATpacker and the NAM files need to be in the same folder? Update: For some reason the Datpacker only senses a building I downloaded and not the rest of NAM. Maybe that's the only file that needs compressing? Seems unlikely. -

Following the guide. I can't seem to open the DATpacker. Gives me this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "datPacker.py", line 1, in ? File "datPackerApp.pyo", line 1, in ? File "wx\__init__.pyo", line 45, in ? File "wx\_core.pyo", line 4, in ? File "wx\_core_.pyo", line 12, in ? File "wx\_core_.pyo", line 10, in __load ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found. So the next step was to download the three necessary DLL's, which I did, but I think I may have downloaded them in the wrong places? I put everything in the plugins folder, maybe that was dumb. I honestly don't know much about file organization, so that's probably the issue. -
Hello there! I recently got some great help on this site with getting a graphics fix and have one more issue that I hope is an easy one. My game is lagging a bit after downloading NAM. This is odd, because I know my laptop can handle SC4/NAM just fine. I got the game to use my stronger graphics card with Voodoo and much more visually demanding games are running smoothly. I feel like I remember downloading a fix for this from this site in the past. Anyone have any thoughts? Graphics look great, just not running smoothly. Thanks, Gable

[Solved] Graphics issue with Clouds / Waves / Demolition Smoke

Guys I did it!! Maybe this is obvious, but I had to drag all the contents of the zipped file directly into the SimCity.exe file. Now everything looks great and I'm so excited!!! Thanks for you help @Ulisse Wolfand @rsc204! -
[Solved] Graphics issue with Clouds / Waves / Demolition Smoke

I think the issue may be that I copied the files incorrectly into the installation folder. I know this is probably an easy step but since I can't find the watermark on the game I just have to assume it hasn't applied yet. Could somebody spell that part out for me? lol -

Haha I did wonder about that. Honestly not a terrible call. I did notice that I'm not getting the dgVoodoo2 watermark yet even though I checked it. So there must be something I'm doing incorrectly. I noticed that in the NVidia control panel it told me that Windows OS now manages which drive gets selected. So I switched the preferred drive to NVidia on there but still no luck (I assume it ignored me). Maybe it is preventing me from adding dgVoodoo2 to SC4? -

This is fascinating, thanks for the context. I did switch the adaptor to the GPU in dgVoodoo2 but no luck yet. Maybe I did the previous step wrong. Going to check if I made a mistake on the Nvidia GPU fix. Update: No luck haha -
[Solved] Graphics issue with Clouds / Waves / Demolition Smoke

@Ulisse Wolf, thanks for these! I downloaded and followed the steps (love not having to watch the intro videos now) but unfortunately am still experiencing the issue. Literally everything seems to be working well except clouds, waves, and demolition smoke. I do have hardware checked on the options menu in game instead of software. I'm running this on an Acer Nitro 5 laptop if that makes a difference. I don't really understand the difference between integrated and dedicated graphics cards, but I think intel i5 is my integrated card and GEFORCE GTX 1650 is my dedicated card. -
[Solved] Graphics issue with Clouds / Waves / Demolition Smoke

Hi wonderful folks, My cloud and wave graphics are looking super odd. Was wondering if anyone has any insight. I just installed the latest NAM on my laptop and everything seems to be running really smooth, but the clouds/waves/building demolition smoke look glitchy. Anyone familiar with this issue? -
Hi there! I am having trouble with NAM crashing when placing puzzle pieces. I am not super skilled with computers, but am a big fan of SC4 and this site. I have downloaded a previous version of NAM and had similar problems, but somehow my dad did something with changing file locations and that fixed it? I still don't quite understand, but there have been no more problems on his computer. Now, however, I would really like to play SC4 on my personal laptop (Acer Nitro 5) with NAM installed, but I am running into the same issue: crashing when placing puzzle pieces. I know this is a tired issue but if anybody has any ideas about what might be going wrong I'm willing to try some solutions
