  1. Because your name is too complicated and your avatar is grainy.
  2. The big thing to remember is not to try too hard. If you're bad at building big, start small. Make sure you have all the right materials too. Btw... get rid of that SWAP stuff, get the new RMIP runways and Ace's terminal packs, much better stuff. Also, don't get too attached to them, you'll end up not liking what you have and just blowing it up many, many, many times. Oh... and look at other airports for inspiration. Heres a few I just so happen to have. Both of these are third or fourth generations of the origional, had to keep on demolishing to get what I want.
  3. ACE Airport Pack

*yawn* Jumbo jet gates, maybe A380 but I doubt that last part. Will this release replace any old versions?
  4. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

I was poking around on the STEX and came across a forgotten gem. https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=16732 Not sure if you would ever consider even touching that project again... But I know it was something a lot of people were looking forward to.

Its freight, it goes to the station and then out of the city, no need for a return.

Well... you have mansions next to midrises next to towers next to single families. Theres not much order, and the grid is small and not really nesicary for such a small downtown. This thread is for rating the picture and the work within it, I just don't find either one very special or interesting. I hope you know this is nothing personal... just my opinion. I give each picture a good bit of my time and come up with an apropriate response. But eh... Hey, incase you guys didn't see it because it was the last post on the other page, I re-posted the shot I took before, but after I made some changes.

GreekMan- It isn't a realistic downtown, nor is it very apealing. Hrm, I'm just not sure. The effort seems to be there, but I think after how long you've been around you could do better. 5/10 smstevenms- If thats done by hand, its quite good. No quality to the picture though... which is really what is suposed to be rated here. 6/10 for the handiwork vershner- Interesting use of everything. The waterfall textures are way too stretched out and those buildings aren't suited to the area. 7.5/10 masochist- There are a FEW too many of the ponds, but a very neat idea and well done. 8.5/10 Deever- Editing is nice, layout seems nice, bit empty though, too much height variation. 8.5/10 patriots- ...woah... awesome job highlighting the beautiful stadium BAT. 9/10 Cokatoo- Dude, just stop it... you're making us all look bad. Nightlighting, layout... 0/10 because you suck. (10/10) I think I'll repost this. Don't have to rate, I just want to know if my fixes made a diference.
  8. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

Tonkso, just checking up... you ever get my PM?

Lets see, just to clarify things: Dark patch is the game being stupid, nothing I can do. Entire roadway been changed since then, basically to eliminate that turning lane. Traffic is very heavy to the freight station, had to get rid of it. Plus it eliminated an unesicary stoplight. If it were shifted there, you would see a lot of unfinished stuff, not as much as the RHW, and not the cool curve that the avenue and rail has at the right. I try to not make focuses, but more on one key interesting thing that leads your eye to trail all over the image. Unlike with others, I didn't say that defensively, just to let you know. Maybe I should re-take the shot... a certain Glenni told me it was fine and not to worry about it though. Hrm... I wonder how you destroy little european boys.

cokatoo- What a beautiful night shot. I bet it would look messy in the day, but it just comes to life at night. Great job using everything, especially the GLR in avenue bit. I'm curious as to how much of that was plopped though. 9/10 Hrm... sure, I'll throw you guys one. Ah, here...

Okay, we're having too much fun at the expense of others now... suppose we should stop... I guess, yeah, think we gotta. Hrm, bring on the pictures! Glenni- Like stated, your diagonals need to stop touching each other like that without protections. Good job as usual thought. 9/10

Remind me never to visit your cities... I improved Glenni's pic. Whadya think?

Never thought I could get offended so easily, but you've proven me wrong. Watch what you say before you start making enemies. EDIT: I supose I should be civil and rate too, lets see... Shingure- Interesting idea, overdone though. Washington monument doesn't fit in, and the roads just seem extremely unrealistic. Hrm... 7/10 Deever- Dude... exept for the grosly bad ground-to-sunken avenue transition, that entire picture just rocks. Beautiful editing, layout, placement... just flows so flawlessly. 9/10 Sanderson- Insults aside, not a bad bit of work. Something doesn't feel right, like its in the middle of a big field, iuno. 7.5/10 Haljackey- Nice skyline, but everything is just so dark and dead. 8/10
  14. Dunno if this has been mentioned amidst all the lingo, but I have an idea/request. Basically its a 4 lane Y. I think two pieces, about 4 tiles long and 4 wide. Gradual change from a 4 lane into two seperate 2 lanes to fork off in different directions. One peice to break it into the Y, and another to bring two parts into one 4 lane. Very common around here. That is actually a part of a Y stack that goes into a 6 lane on the right which goes down to a divided 4, then a separate 4 lane on the left.

Well... you seem to use diagonals a good deal, but you don't have any diagonal buildings. The maxis plaza pieces are very repetitive too, look through the STEX, theres several very nice sets there that will give you many options. Theres a lot of maxis buildings, not that they're bad... but that it has no wow factor. Really... thats pretty much it. Anyway, that second pic wasn't really meant for showing off, just posted for comparison... that is 3 year old work from me. Thats what it became. Picture taken from a helicopter, very bumpy ride though. Soon to have new towers and a nice park. Also... the editing is a bit harsh, but I feel its SO much easier to look at, so its fine with me.

Hey, guess what! I got pictures! But first, comments: vershner- neat editing, but uh... your city kinda er, isn't that great. its something though, you obviously got talent. work harder on the city next time sanderson- you again eh? thought we got rid of you... anyway, bus stations everywhere for no real reason, maxis ones at that. theres some real good parts about that downtown, but the diagonal aspect is integrated quite poorly. that highway is pathetically useless too... just a money waster. you have the resources and skill, just keep experimenting until you get something of a slightly higher grade. Now, back to me. This is the booming new discrict in my freshly redeveloped downtown. $2300 a month will get you two bedrooms and two baths just outside of the buisiness discrict, and right next to local transit stops to bring you into the big city the next tile over. Close proximity to public transit means most of these residents don't even own a car. Also, for the hell of it... i'll show the old upper-crust district. EDIT: Taken down, didn't want it to be rated... very old development that I hate. This district was left to the rats after the Belmont Tower was gutted by a fire. The eyesore drove many residents out, leaving the rest to be turned into offices or frat buildings for the big college the next city over. The entire area is scheduled to be razed within the year.

I was planing on doing another picture and ratings, but I haven't found anything suitable yet. So... capitol1- not bad, good display of tallent. just doesn't seem to "flow", maybe the red factory, 7.5/10 hijodecordoba- well... its something. i'd call it a mess, but a good mess. keep working 6/10 ilikehotdogsallot- not bad, not bad at all. editing is a bit too harsh though 9/10 cokatoo- harborside hotel discrict... not too shabby. i think a shot from the left would be better 8.5/10 Godzillaman, give it a shot. You'll walk away knowing what you need to improve on, and get some very solid constructive criticism at the least. Who knows, you may be the next... *looks through page* ... well, you'll be the next someone.

In my current state(just woke up), I have an interest in posting here for the first time since... early last winter I believe. Kiro- Well, that pedmall on the corner with the lamp post sticks out like a soar thumb. Also, I'd suggest picking just one of the textures for that sidewalk mod and sticking with it, maybe the nice red paver one to match that big building and the surrounding stonework. Good choice with the GLR textures, I think the new ones wouldn't fit in there. Either way, looks like a nicely themed area. I give it a 7.5, it looks good, but nothing that makes me go "wow". Anyway... this pic is sorta old, never used it though. Sleepy afternoon in a city of mine. Population prefers to use mass transit, thats why there are barely ever any cars.
  19. Sim City: in a new direction

But you see... people will still buy it. Somehow all the protestors are now going "i'll give it a try". And really, thats all they want. If they get thier money, they're happy. Once they get what they want, they shove this failure onto the discout shelves, and SC is useless to them. They won't even admit they did something wrong, they'll just blame us for not appreciating what they made for us. I for one will not buy it, I don't have time to waste on such garbage. I've let EA slide with thier half-assed job they've done on every Sims 2 EP, but this takes the cake. I really hope Will feels ashamed for allowing something like this to carry the name. He's lost his followers, and thats gotta hurt anyone.
  20. Sim City: in a new direction

Posted this in another thread that the reds at be chose to close. Guess the SC4D virus is spreading here... I know as I looked at those screenshots and read the notes... that I was close to tears. I feel like I've been shot in the heart. Four and a half years of waiting, hoping, begging, wondering, for this. Simcity is dead. This game is not Simcity, and will duely shelve the franchise. I don't care if it does good in the stores, but it won't be what we have made out of the name. Its horible really... what these people think we want, what they make us think we want and need. Why after all these years of watching the forums, of knowing what we want and expect... to turn around, sling mud on our faces, and discrace the name with, with... THAT. I just wanted to say my mind, thats all. I'd like to know how you guys really feel about this. Please, no one liner "they suck!" and the normal BS thats been going around this place. Take a few minutes and speak your mind. Not that it matters anymore, its hopeless and gone... maybe this will be more of a wake for our dear friend. Rest in peace Simcity, I'm proud to say I played you. PS: You optomistic people don't need to reiterate yourself, we know who you are, just not why you think that this is an okay thing. I don't feel up to editing or reiterating myself to make it just fit in as a comment, sorry.
  21. Thanks Tarkus, always good to know that things like that are already being handled. Nice job by the way, can't wait to see it get expanded on. More networks connecting to it, diagonal connections of those networks, more lanes, and of course the ramps/interchanges. *drools* Mmmh, i can smell the uter demise of maxis highways already...
  22. Just wanted to report a small bug. No big deal really. Far as I can tell it still functions. I'm only mentioning this because the RHW and new NAM were intended to mesh together, not bash heads. Probably just something not thought of, or something un-doable is my guess.
  23. If theres going to be an updated version with installer soon, I'd just rather pull the mod out completely and wait. Thanks for the help, much obliged Andreas.
  24. Came home today and saw the new NAM out, got downloading immediately. Finished up after making sure I had done everything correctly, fired it up, and... Yeah... texture issue much? This was a problem I had a while ago, but only when the RHW and glr track texture mods were in at the same time. Once one is removed, the Euro textures are perfectly fine on all aspects. I even downloaded the latest euro road mod from sc4d to make sure. Love to know a solution to this. It affects all intersections, elevated roadways, and on-grade transit line intersections with roadways. However, in good news... my first real use of the RHW is going greatly, that stretch of highway is functioning perfectly, and that GLR there was recently replaced with the dragable, which besides wanting to switch to EL rail after passing that station, also went perfectly. Right now its just these textures...
  25. I understand the "intentions", but a bit of empathy might have helped while coming up with ideas. Next time, try a joke thread.
