  1. Weird terrain problem in custom region

I tried lowering the terrain of the tile and it worked! I feel like an idiot for never thinking of that.
  2. Weird terrain problem in custom region

Ah, I'll try this since it seems the easiest. I don't want to have to reinstall the whole region.
  3. I am experiencing a very strange problem in a custom region I downloaded. I deleted a city in a square and I clicked on it to start a new city. But instead of seeing lush green terrain, there was just a barren desert-like texture with not much grass. I downloaded a tropical climate mod so I'm not sure if this is the cause of it. But when I founded a new city there and exited, I got this: (Please check the attached picture) The terrain in this square is much higher than the surrounding squares, and it's barren! I've heard something about a "height mod" but I'm sure if I need this because the region worked just fine before. What do I do to solve this?
  4. RHW neighbor connection not working

The two cities I connected seem to be working now. I will have to start over again with my other cities and start the connection from the beginning. Thanks for the help!
  5. RHW neighbor connection not working

    So it's working fine then?
  6. RHW neighbor connection not working

Tried replacing my 8C highway with an 8S. Did the same thing on both sides. STILL no luck. It's like the Sims don't even acknowledge the existence of the road. Eventually I get tons of no job zots and people leave my city until I fall into massive debt. I really must be doing something wrong. Sometimes in the past, when I went to the neighboring city, before I connected the road I bulldozed the road with the arrows on it. I then tried starting a new RHW piece and hooking up all the RHW roads, accpeting the connections and placing the NC pieces. I made sure it was lined up with the road in the other city. But this didn't work. So once I tried not bulldozing them and simply hooked the RHW highway witht the appropriate NC pieces. It still didn't work. With the 8S I made sure to use the invisible loop connector. I tried starting two new cities, one industrial and one residential. I connected them both with an RHW 8S highway, with all NC pieces and all requisite exits and entrances. I saw only freight trucks moving in and out. When I went to the residential city, for a little while I saw ordinary cars using the highway but then at the edge of the map they just fell into the ground and disappeared. Some of them appeared to loop around to the oncoming road and then disappear.
  7. RHW neighbor connection not working

That's what I did. In both cities I placed the starter piece, dragged it to the edge with three RHW 2 roads, established a connection, and placed the neighbor pieces.
  8. RHW neighbor connection not working

I have NAM 31.2 installed. I'm not sure what you mean by "special pieces", I placed the RHW 8C neighbor connector piece over the tiles connecting to the edge of the map at both ends. Here's a quote from the RHW manual: "When making an RHW neighbour connection, remember that the overrides do not carry over into the neighbouring city. In other words, you will need to replace starters into the neighbouring city" I don't know what is meant by "overrides" in the context of neighbor connections here. I tried looking this up in the manual and I'm still lost...
  9. I am expriencing a very frustrating problem trying to connect two cities via an RHW road. I should add that I also searched for help with this problem and tried everything but I still have not solved it. I thought I had done everything right but my neighbor connection is not working, so now I'm not so sure. I an using an RHW type 8C road (four lanes in either direction). I placed the RHW 8C starter piece and dragged out a real highway to complete it. I want to connect one primarily residential city with some high tech industry, and one primarily commercial city. These two cities are really part of one city-state that I'm creating, and the different cities in my region are actually going to be different neighborhoods. Kind of like Singapore I think. My commercial city is going to be the CBD (Central Business District) for the whole region. I needed three single-tile 2-lane RHW roads to complete it and make it into an 8-lane road. I dragged each one to the edge of the map on the border of the city I wanted to connect to. Each time the neighbor connection dialog box came up and I said yes to a neighbor connection. I then placed the right neighbor connector piece for that type of road. I made sufficient entrances and exits for the highway so all the sims could get on the highway in the residential city to commute to the commercial city, and come back in the evening. I then went to my commercial city and repeated the exact same steps as above, making sure the roads lined up and the NC pieces were all in place. I also made sufficient entrances and exits for the sims. But they still will not use the road at all. For now I have several backup roads serving as connections that the sims use to commute to the city. They're pretty congested. If I bulldoze all these roads, all the houses get no job zots and eventually people start leaving in droves. I changed the game to drive on the left side of the road (LHD traffic) and I installed the LHD version of the NAM and RHW mods. The region I'm working on is a fictional former British colony inspired by Singapore and Hong Kong, so I wanted a sort of "British" feel to it but with Asian buildings and roads. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling these plugins again, making sure I had the right versions, but no luck. I am trying not to give up, and I want to explore all the possibilties of this great game, so I would really appreciate the help!
  10. Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello, I'm Sum Ting Wong. I'm trying to build a massive region with a population of 5 million people as my goal. I just started playing this game a couple of weeks ago and boy is it fun! Having the power to design what is effectively my own society is an addictive thing I must admit. I would also like to share pictures of my city with others as well as exchange ideas and information. I don't need the city with the most people, rather I want realistic cities that would actually be livable in the real world. Glad to be on board!
