I do hope EA are eventually going to release an offline edition. I was planning on paying £45 (IIRC) at launch for the game and then changed my mind after hearing about the always online requirement. I still haven't bought the game as there are plenty of more consumer-friendly developers out there (indie developers seem to be in a golden age right now) who deserve the cash, plus I don't like the whole sign-in process surrounding always online games. I'm not the only person who feels this way, and EA seem to be ignoring a silent mass of people who will buy this game the moment the company makes an official offline patch. The extra sales would more than pay for the work required to do this. So until the design flaw is fixed (and it will be eventually I'm sure) we'll be sitting on the sidelines patiently waiting. Perhaps one day EA will realise why they keep getting worst company awards. Microsoft did the same thing with the Xbone reveal, and publishers really ought to learn just how much the community hates always-online, and to what degree we enjoy total control and ownership over our games.
