  1. Tourist Attraction DLC

what's very sad is that some people will actually buy this stuff.
  2. not that I disagree with you at all but if they didn't listen to any of this in the year before the release of this game or look to the failures of both SimCity Societies and Cities XL then I'm not sure this company is going to start listening to anything that we have to say now.
  3. Indeed. Atrocious business practices in the production of fluff doesn't excuse those practices. The "honor" is well-deserved.
  4. I couldn't say it any better than Maarten.
  5. You missed the the one where he blames people who hate gays on the hate of the company. In the past year, we have received thousands of emails and postcards protesting against EA for allowing players to create LGBT characters in our games. This week, we’re seeing posts on conservative web sites urging people to protest our LGBT policy by voting EA the Worst Company in America. That last one is particularly telling. If that’s what makes us the worst company, bring it on. Because we're not caving on that." that's actually one of their few redeeming qualities How is that redeeming when he is saying all the criticism is because people hate gays? They are using gay people as nothing more a shield. I think that EA's stance on gay and lesbian issues is good...not his statement.

  7. no he doesn't. he completely dismissed all the reasons that people hate them.
  8. they sacrificed macro-level things that city builders like and want (like larger maps, more transportation options, and more control over the whole region) for micro-level simluation that doesn't even work anyway... sad
  9. SimCity 4 didn't come close to the problems with this game. Even with the problems and bugs most people could see it was built on a solid and long-lasting game foundation.
  10. Of course they should...the question is why should WE support it?
  11. Sim City Review: Jimquisition

And that's a good thing which more people should continue to shout about.
  12. Here's my problem with it: for the year leading up to release people were telling MAXIS what they didn't like about the direction they were taking the game. At release and from then on, the problems with the game can all be traced to exactly what people were telling them before the release. Since release people have been telling them the things they want to see. What's the first addition to the game that they release? an in-game advertisement. Until people start holding them accountable by criticizing them and refusing to buy their products they will continue to ignore feedback.
  13. How exactly are they paying for it if it's free? did someone give them the game for free?
  14. you're paying for advertising...in a game that doesn't work.
  15. the buildings in SimCity 2013 aren't the problem. Filling it with SimCity 4 buildings isn't going to fix a thing.
  16. SimCity: The Best Worst Game of the Year

MAXIS already knows all of this. People have been shouting it all in their ears since they announced the game a year ago. They ignore it and continue to lie about their game design, their motivations, and pretty much everything else about the game.
  17. Cities in Motion 2 Shows Nifty Transportation Network Options

Main difference between this and SimCity is that you CAN play offline with a game through Steam. I don't much care for it either but since brick and mortar stores have virtually disappeared and what few are left have very little selection when it comes to PC games there aren't a lot of other choices.
  18. Cities in Motion 2 Shows Nifty Transportation Network Options

    looks promising. we'll see.
  19. SimCity Update from Senior Producer Kip Katsarelis

until they acknowledge their LIES about the game design and stop talking down to players they don't deserve to be taken at face value.
  20. EA: "DRM is a failed dead-end strategy"

Precisely! This kind of condescending spin that they've been pushing all year long is why people are so angry. It's not just that the game isn't what a lot of people wanted. It's their arrogant and dismissive attitudes about it.
  21. EA: "DRM is a failed dead-end strategy"

and their "vision" failed miserably. code an offline mode so you can start fixing this train wreck. prove it's not about DRM...modders already proved it doesn't need the internet connection to play.
  22. Only natural. It's called "making use of personal networking". Publishers are quite good at putting that to use in service of narrative control. You can see it in quite a few places actually, ranging from outright (and silly) blocking to a more guided approach of locking threads once they reach a certain point. yup...like right here!
  23. Anyone else lost interest?

many of us told people from the announcement that they were taking this game in the wrong direction. we were called "haters". sorry you had to learn the hard way.
  24. add to that adjacent maps and ability to set your own regional transportation...user-placeable highways and connections.
  25. not if I have to connect to a server in order to play it.
