Will Wright calls EA’s server problems “inexcusable”
cirugo commented on Dirktator's article in News
I'm aware of that. He sat down for an interview with Ocean Quigley and talked it up and they used it to try to legitimize this version of the game. He should've just kept quiet. -
Will Wright calls EA’s server problems “inexcusable”
cirugo commented on Dirktator's article in News
He saw it coming and yet allowed himself to be used to sell the game as is. thanks Will! -
nothing about toning down the agent-based simulation that's behind how drastically they had to cut back the scale of the game and also behind all of the traffic issues in the first place (and the small maps and so many other things people don't like)? Nothing about providing an offline mode when connecting to the servers has been a hassle since launch and people are still dealing with rollbacks? particularly when it's been shown over and over again that they lied about the reasons for the server connections? The game just needs to die.

with SimCity in the state that it's in they're plastering this announcement on the splash page for www.simcity.com really disgusting if you ask me. It's just another slap in the face.

SimCity 2013 now $49.99 BestBuy
cirugo replied to simmarine's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
no one said that. -
I have no way of knowing but let me tell you a story: Back in the early days of World of Warcraft, the developers were catching continual flack from players about latency. The latency indicator would turn from green to yellow and then red depending on your latency. What did they do? They changed the parameters for the indicator.

he actually admits to being behind this?

Do you wish a save/reload system was introduced?
cirugo replied to 5uper_Mania's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
not unless I don't need to connect to a server to play it. It's not an MMO. -

SimCity next version ideas...
cirugo replied to cshmech's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
there won't be a next version. Maxis killed the franchise with this one. -
Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
cirugo replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
anti-piracy is just the icing on the cake. they are moving to making games into a service rather than a product. they can monetize them, data-mine and sell your info, and sell you DLC much easier with this model of gaming. That's what it's all about...not providing a good game. Surprisingly enough, I don't object to any of that. what I object to is not being able to play when and where I want. -

Brick and mortar stores, where they even exist anymore, don't have computer game areas...they have one or two SHELVES and that's it. -
Screw the game, SimCity has become a cynically brilliant advertising platform

this guy thinks this DLC is actually worth taking the time to download. that invalidates everything else he says. -
If you could go back and doit again,,,would you still buy SimCity 5?
cirugo replied to parenzo's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
yup. I actually bought that one and it was fun in its own way for a while. -
I have yet to dig into it. Tutorial was next to useless and it's going to take my a while to get the hang of it. It seems to have a lot of potential though and you can't argue with the cost.

uh yeah, they're stupid and ugly and even If I HAD purchased the game I wouldn't put these in my city if someone PAID me to do it.

Tourist Attraction DLC Preview on SimCity Brasil Facebook
cirugo commented on Hellken's article in News
why would anyone? -
How long do you think it will be before they shut down the SimCity servers?
-
anyone who buys SimCity after this announcement is NUTS! They close down simcity social after less than a year...and you think they're going to keep up SimCity itself if it's not profitable? server-based games are a BAD deal for customers unless they are specifically MMOs...which SimCity is not despite how badly EA/Maxis wants to believe it.

remember they also featured that giant green thing over a sim's head as a park as a selling point for their deluxe edition... anyone who expects Maxis to fix this game is kidding themselves.
