2.0 - Initial Observations
superfurry316 replied to LGMizzell's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
2.0 summary: Fixed - not much. Broken - Air pollution will kill your city quickly. Bravo *slow clap* -
Want to build a park somewhere that isn't connected to a road? Build a park, then edit the park, adding parts to stretch it towards the area where you actually want the park to go. You can delete the parks inbetween (in edit mode) once you have the park where you want. The only bit of park you can't delete is the original part snapped to the road.

Would someone like to overtake a city I'm about to abandon?
superfurry316 replied to infoman96's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'd like to have a go. At the moment, I'm playing daily. Here are a few pictures of Snake, what I consider to be my nicest city. I am superfurry316 on Origin also. -
In my opinion, many of the cars in that final image are driving to the first intersection just to do a U turn and enter the buildings on left side of main avenue. I think if you built a high density avenue coming out to the right, halfway along the main avenue it would help. Doesn't necessarily have to connect with the residential in the bottom right of that pic, just gives the traffic somewhere to do their stupid U turns.

Trouble with constant traffic issues
superfurry316 replied to bz2king's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The main thing seems to be avoiding 4-way "crossroad" intersections at all costs. And since traffic can't cross the road to enter a building, long straight roads are a no-no. They need places to turn around to get on the side of the road they want, so that means plenty of "T" intersections. I have noticed high density, low wealth commercial causes a lot of traffic problems too - I dozed some near problem intersections which helped a lot. Also, train stations with high usage will cause ridiculous traffic problems since the sims all drive to it. I was forced to delete them in my biggest city (300,000 population) and now my traffic problems have gone. Kind of ass-backwards, deleting train stations to REDUCE traffic, but there you go. Same thing with universities and colleges - they can create huge traffic depending on placement... Edit: I think you knew that already... -
Grade School or High School, Which to Choose ?
superfurry316 replied to JimCityBuilder's topic in SimCity (2013) Showcase
I'm basically going to consider the high school as a higher capacity grade school now. Very useful info Jim. -
Service roads and you OR How to keep your trucks MOVING all the time!
superfurry316 replied to Alonjar's topic in SimCity (2013) Showcase
Did they get rid of this with the traffic patch? Doesn't seem to work for me. They'll use the service roads to do a U turn but nothing else. -
good tips for a mining/trade city?
superfurry316 replied to ulvemann43's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Another mine or two wouldn't hurt either if you have the area for it. Can always delete them once you get the upgrades you want. -
Am I Doing Something Wrong?
superfurry316 replied to RLN92's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
This sounds like an issue related to the recycling centre bug Also sounds similar to this issue It's clear to me that there's a widespread bug in the game where buildings stop working completely under certain circumstances when their storage becomes full. From reading your post, it seemed to start when the mine got full up - perhaps plopping another mine or demolishing and replacing the mine would help. Are you gifting recycling trucks to a neighbour? Worth stopping that for a little while to see if that makes any difference. It's very frustrating... -
I created a public region called "The Great Experiment" to see if people would join. Of course they didn't, because the in-game search mechanic is painfully inadequate. Now looking on forums for people to join. I'm a longtime simcity player - going back to the days of the original Simcity on the ZX Spectrum (!!!) and for this region I just want a relaxed atmosphere where we can hopefully learn together about this new game and have some fun. Got a bit bored with trying to play regions on my own - though I was successful in building the space station great work I feel that I need to experience the online aspect of this game which EA seems to think is so utterly fantastic. Let's find out. I have claimed three cities already, mainly to experiment with some different road layouts and stuff. There are many spots available as of this post. Add me on origin - superfurry316 and I'll send you an invite as long as there are spaces available. The region is on Europe West 5. Cheers

New Region - Europe West 5

Thanks to all those who've joined. Still places available! -
Is it just me or is Great Work construction completely borked?
superfurry316 replied to A_S00's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I encountered every issue that you listed when building the space station in my own private region. I finished the thing eventually, after a lot of trial and error. I got to see the satellite launch three times from three different cities... my sims have clearly mastered the art of time travel.- 8 Replies

Recycling Center Bug & cost effective workaround
superfurry316 replied to Grendil's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
This just started to happen to me, thanks to googling "simcity recycling centre bug" I came across this topic quickly. Will try building a 2nd (and possibly a 3rd) recycling centre with maxed out add-ons to see what happens. Not ideal, but I am relying on imported recycling trucks in one city, really don't want to have to build one in there itself. In the city exporting the trucks the centre just refuses to work. And in the 2nd city the trucks just don't turn up.- 32 Replies
