  1. Show us your Downtown!

This is how the CBD fits into the city with nearly zero low wealth sims and industry. The city is working perfectly at the moment and has 350.000 inhabitants. I'am planning to have one million on this map alone.

Normally you can not drag any network directly over the entrance. But I used the double height monorail transition puzzle piece plopped it over the entrance and demolished a single piece at its end. The rest will turn into normal monorail and will stay atop the entrance. Just perforn this once or twice and connect it to the normal track. If there are other network puzzle pieces which have some remnants after demolishing than it might be possible with them too. Normally you can not drag any network directly over the entrance. @T Wrecks I think you are partly right. I will remove 2-3 skyscrapers to find another place for them. But there must be that feeling of density somewhere. I remember an argument on Skysrapercity, about Shanghai, building beautiful skyscrapers, but filling the space between with parks and parking lots, at least in Pudong. Whereas New York City or Hongkong are just dense as hell... So why not combine the beautiful scrapers and the density?

There it is, monorail over tunnel entrance.^^ Did someone else already found this trick? I think it is possible with several different network types, but I have not tried yet. I just randomly stumbled over it.

Regatta Diagonal becomes immortal, when you place another building next to it and demolish this one. Demolishing the Regatta Diagonal alone is no problem. However the Regatta Diagonal in my pic is only surrounded by roads and tunnel entrance. Demolishing roads is no issue. How do you like that skyline??

After all those Maxis buildings annoyed me so much, I just dumped the whole region and downloaded a nice little Island. This will be the CBD in the biggest city of my new region.

Here is my attempt of a natural maxis grown downton on a medium tile... It took at leats half the time to let only the desired buildings of the CBD grow and demolish the small ones compared to building the whole city. Unfortunately the transit network of this city is nuts and far from profitable... I will have to redo most of the monorail tracks and remove the ground trains... On the pictures are several 5000+ job buildings.
  8. I just thought Elrail has been adjusted to the subway 90 degree turns. When Elrail is using the same trains like subway, why not? Ok, if this not possible, I will just skip this transport system again...
  9. It is happening even after a complete reinstallation. Without NAM its not even possible to drag the track, after new NAM installation it gets brown but does not appear. No other plugins have been put in the plugin folder after reinstallation, and even with my plugins its still the same.

When I try it, the tiles stay red. After installing the new Nam, the T-intersection and sharp corners turn brown. But they are not visible after they are built. Please help!!! Picture:

Some differences are that monorail produces more pollution, but on the other hand monorail seem to be the first choice of transport for the sims, because of its speed. My monorails are usually overcrowded. The main monorail link between the two city districts had 12000 Passengers before the additional subway links were biult. Now its half of that capacity. But due to the subway, the orange train link has nearly been abandoned. It was also overcrowded with 5000-6000 before. At some point there were even 4000 cars driving the highway, this has been prevented with a toll booth. That is my third city in the region, but it has by far the most complicated transit network, because of its tarrain. I like it to switch between hilly and flat land. Hilly terrain is far more interesting, but can not produce big cities... Population of this is just 70000.

Yeah, because I was too lazy to create or download a map after I finally got the game running without burning my CPU on my new laptop... I had so many performance, resolution and patching issues that I was just happy when it was running.
  13. Show Us Your Suburbs

I want my whole region to be connected with monorails, but half of it is pretty hilly terrain. So I finally found out how to create a good looking steep monorail track in my hilly suburb. Here are a few pics of my latest finished industrial/suburb/satellite city.

I have just started playing sim city 4 again after 5 years. This picture is taken from my latest city.
