darn42, I can take some photos of the plaza below if you intend to create it and need close up references. I go to Chase Tower for lunch with coworkers about once a week or every other week, and they are understanding of my geeky architectural hobbies.

This looks stellar. This will definitely look great in your portfolio. SC4 Bat Modeling definitely helped jump start my career.

I've always loved Kuma's and Sweetwater's But I was blown away by the burgers at Longman and Eagle. Amazing flavor.

This model is beautiful! Very nice work! The rust textures look very convincing.

Most of the buildings requested here should be easy to model. Just a quick check showed floor plans and elevations for reference in the HABS database. It's free and the drawings are very highres

If anyone needs photo closeups / references of certain buildings, let me know. I'm happy to provide assistance. I live near Water Tower place close by many of the requested buildings. My only BAT model contribution is a half finished 360 N. Michigan Ave. But I have track record of not being very reliable completing models. But photos I can def provide.

I'm very impressed. I've lived downtown for 3 years I've always wanted to try and model a building. Trib Tower is rather ambitious. Nice work!

Oh I'm still alive. And so is Hudsons. You know that building is crazy. I began working on it just when I was about to start architecture school in Ann Arbor in 2005. - sat unfinished - Picked it up again in summer of 2007 Graduated from architecture, hudsons sits unfinished Began grad school, 2 years pass. Towards the end I start doing major modeling. - sat unfinished - Move to Chicago. 2 years later, I complete the modeling of the building....at least exactly a year ago was about the last time I did a ton of work on it. It's amazing how things have changed over 8 years, and yet this model never gets finished! I swear you could have built 3 of the real thing in the time its taken me!! The good news...or bad news...is that I have 3 months of cold Chicago winters ahead. Whatever will I do....? I guess it's time to get working on this again. I also have started on a Chicago BAT, my own apartment building that my landlord was so nice to hand over elevations and CAD drawings for....obviously this won't be a BSP I anticipate finishing this in 2025.

I seriously choked with excitement seeing the Carew preview. So busy, but seeing all the BSP stuff + nofunks stuff here I want to get to playing the game again so bad. Marvelous work.

Hey Everyone First and foremost, it's been a very long time since I've last BATed. Some of you may remember me from back in 2004 when I was active in the BSP. I was well known for creating alot of half complete buildings, such as Hudsons Department Store, Ford Field, and the Dime Building in Detroit, MI. While those projects are still on the backburner, and I'd like to jump back into the BSP, they are also very large projects. I want to start with smaller buildings and work my way back to those. One of my frustrations with the game is the lack of midrise density. I'm beginning to model buildings that you'd typically find in parts of upper Manhattan or the Bronx. Since I live in downtown Chicago, I'm certain to be inspired by the 20 story brick apartment buildings surrounding me as well. I'll begin by showing the progress I've made on my first building back at the BAT. It's a late 1800's corner building that is mostly residential with ground floor retail. It's intended to face a commercial street, so it will probably end up being that. Standard View HD Views First Question So what is this HighDef business have to do with the game. What should I render these as? I kind of over-exaggerated the thickness on the fire escapes for it to show up, but in the HD view, it definitely shows up and I'd like to scale it back down. Additionally, I'm also aware I need to scale the building up a bit to compensate for the distortion. Second Question I did this in sketchup. I know 3DS and SKP play well together, as I do a ton of 3D modeling and rendering at my job. Typically we use sketchup, then import to max and use mental ray and Vray and never have problems. But it's been awhile since I've used BAT for Max. Because I'm in the process of installing Windows 7 and 3DS Max on my iMac, I'm rendering these on my lunch break at work. My computer has both 3DS Max 2009 and 2010. I like bringing .skp models into 2010 because it's easier, however BAT for max kept crashing. Actually, it would just render gray squares then freeze. 2009 worked perfectly. I'm not sure what the difference was or if I did any setup wrong. I thought it was possibly the sketchup model, but when created quick models in MAX, the same issue happened. I'd prefer to render the full thing at work because we have a render farm and there's virtually no wait time. The above images all took about 1 to 2 seconds each to render. So I'd like to get the 2010 issue resolved. Thanks, and I'd like to hear your feedback so far. ......Heading out to take some skyline photos........

Alright folks, I'm getting back into working on this one. I've been pretty busy these past few months. Unfortunately hopefully the upcoming nice weather won't effect my effort to get this one done. And thought I'd share this St Patty's day shot from my office:

Update For the most part, 99.999% of the modeling is done. Just a few more touch-ups on the rooftop ancillary buildings, but for the most part this thing is ready for texturing. The hold-up has been my schedule, and re-installing max on my computer. Since I use a mac, I removed windows because I needed more space. I bought a new hard drive, and have all the files cleared off some I ready to put Windows back on along with all the autodesk stuff When at least start texturing this a bit, I will then shift this project over to the BSP thread where it originally was.

Excellent work nofunk. The tower looks really good.

Thanks guys. Sorry it's been quiet. I've been a bit busy with traveling and work. Hope to do a bit more tonight. Since I don't have a picture to post of progress, here's a nice shot I took from the roof of my apartment building recently instead

Amazing work Jason and nofunk!

Thanks Guys. I did some more work on it last night. Going to take a break on it for the weekend though.

Alright, it's been quiet for awhile in this thread. I was really busy these past few weeks and couldn't get more of the texturing done on the NY bat, but I should have more time next week. I did however find time to model more of Hudsons. Expect the model to be fully built out by next week. Texturing will take some time though and probably wrap up by the end of November
