I'm just going to say the town where I grew up: Saginaw, Michigan - Dow Chemical Corporation: Makes a lot of chemicals you use daily - HSC: Makes semiconductor components found in most electronic devices. A part of your computer was made in my hometown. - General Motors: Operates several casting plants for engine blocks. They are now expanding (thank God) - Delphi Corporation: Steering systems Saginaw is part of the tri-cities area. A collective of nearly 1 million residents areawide. Therefore there are alot of other companies connected to these four.

If your dorm does not have a sink in the room, be sure not to buy to many snack foods that are messy and require washing of dishes. I always hated having to wash my dishes in the community bathrooms. I was on a meal plan, but I would still prepare a late night snack of easy mac once and awhile. The bowl would sit there for days. Sometimes I would hide them in the closet so my friends wouldn't see that I was leaving dirty dishes everywhere. Fortunately it didn't smell. This was a few years ago, I know better now to wash dishes right after I use them. I would seriously ignore the comments about moving into an apartment because its cheaper. That's not always true depending on where you live. Besides, this is the moment for you to meet new people. Why be anti-social by living alone?

Ya, I know. It's just that I want to be able to move the dummy object around in the existing scene instead of having to move the base file. It's really just a convenience thing.

Hopefully someone can answer this, but I'm going to xref some scenes into another scene in 3ds. I've successfully been able to do so, but is it possible to move the 'child' objects around in the 'parent' scene? They appear to be locked. Most other programs allow the ability to move an xref around, just not edit it of course.

I think this looks great. All our sim cities need the painted EIFS clad theatres for a realism factor. (Although I don't care for them in real life) But very well done!

That's the illest thing ever. Nice work! I was going to model the Howard Street station (which includes the shopping plaza and parking structure), but I have too much on my plate right now, which I have not revaled yet to the ST community.

Basically, I just use low energy CFL bulbs and try to take public transit whenever possible. I also try to recycle more, becuase the buildup in landfills releases methane gas. Although... most landfills now recapture methane and sell it off as fuel. Many General Motors factories around the Detroit area are powered by methane from landfills, which I think is kind of cool.

I just graduated from college and I work for an architecture firm. I have a love/hate relationship with my job (I've actually been working there for a year). The good part is my bosses are cool, and the workplace is relaxed. The bad part is the pay could be a bit better and I hate AutoCADing all day, although listening to music has helped a bit. It's alright though, I'm going grad school for urban planning this fall for what I hear will result in a more enjoyable, higher paying job. I really don't have time to play SC4 much. And if I'm doing 3d models at work, the last thing I want to do is come home and make them for SimCity. I've left a legacy here at ST of unfinished structures thanks to my real world career interests. But how can I complain, it does pay rent after all. N_O_body, the sad thing is there is now this long phase of my life between the fresh young college graduate and retirement. I really don't want to wish for future days where I can relax and enjoy the rest of my life, but damn, work is so routine and boring. I'm looking forward to a career change.

Maybe someone here would be willing to give you the file if possible. I'd send it to you, except I don't have it, and haven't opened SC4 in 2 years.

There's actually a ton of Ann Arbor people on this forum, they just never post much. I know there are six members here who have posted in the past that go to the University of Michigan. BTW, wolverine has some surprises coming to the BAT.

Man, I remember the fire drills 4:00 am in the morning at my college dorm. (To top it off, one morning it was snowing and -4 degrees F. Horrible! A lot of people would try to stay inside, but apparently there were penalties (inflicted by the state gov) for not leaving during a fire drill. My sophomore year, I stayed in my dorm room, and little did I realize the building was actually on fire. But as well all know, it takes a lot to burn down those large concrete, steel, and brick dorms.
