^ They were public housing, and were not adequately funded or maintained. There were stories about seniors being trapped on the upper floors because the elevators were broken or the stairwells being entirely filled with garbage. They may not be a total loss. A cluster of 3 of these exact type of towers were resurrected from a similar state into senior housing and got major upgrades. At the time these were built, they were considered some of the best housing in the city with spacious units and sweeping views of the city.. After the city closed the property, scrappers stole the barbed wire fencing, and then the windows. The property is completely accessible to everyone. Not even the cops would stop when they saw a group of us with cameras. The inside is ridiculously eerie. Smoke detectors on a dying run chirp to one another from floor to floor You always think there is someone floors above you with the wind blowing thing around. They will eventually be demolished, so no one is really doing much to keep people out.

They look excellent! I hit up these buildings (the real ones) not long ago and took a few pics: Going up!

I invited myself into the Brewster-Douglas Projects the other day. Interesting place, but still in good condition despite missing all the windows. It was weird hearing dying smoke detectors chirp to each other floor to floor. Your welcome Swiss! I had to take some time off because my computer broke. I had everything backed up fortunately. I have just purchased a brand new 24" 2.9 ghz imac and I'm running 3ds 9 on it. So I'm back up and running and working on it! Updates coming soon.

So after 4 long years of being absent from the BSP, I've decided to come back and restart a project I discontinued in 2005. I will [re]model the JL Hudson's Department Store that was demolished 10 years ago. I'm very far along on this model. About 75% of the entire lower massing is modeled so far. I got a C in Calculus, thankfully that never mattered. In my six year run through undergrand and grad school, it's still the worst grade I ever got.

I've been using sketchup for everything and exporting to 3ds. Works beautifully. Of course, I haven't released any BATS....yet!

I have no clue why or how the tollbooth incident happened. If you are trying to steal a free toll in the US, the cameras will still catch you unpaid. And if you don't have money, you can still get a free pass although you will have to eventually pay it later within 30 days. The 1st photo appears the guy was towing something far too heavy. You can see the hitch and chains on the back unless this was attached immediately after the accident to pull him out. Regardless this type of towing mistake is not uncommon. People think they can pull dead trees out with vehicles, and when the chain breaks, the car lurches forward far too quickly. In that case, he or she should have thought about it prior to facing forward towards the house.

Not at all. When I was kid, I would try and step on department store escalators in the worst way possible, especially between the stairs so that I deliberately fall onto my two year older sister. I also used to\ stand completely still until the steps went beneath the platform. Sometime back in high school, we had a new student that later became my friend. He came from a\ rural area of the US, distant from any urban place capable of producing the sophistication of moving stairs. Well, that day he experienced his first time in a parking structure as well as on an escalator. We stepped on as usual, but when we turned around, he was still at the bottom waiting for the right moment. Quite a shock.

Wow, it's crazy I found this since there isn't a whole lot of information or discussion about it out there. I do have Synesthesia. I was "diagnosed" I guess you could say with it two years ago, but I can recall associated numbers and letters with colors as early as age 5. I never knew other people had it. I just thought it was a crazy trait of mine, since nobody else seemed to know what I was talking about. I finally brought it up after a psychology experiment I had to do for a class in college. I was then referred to someone who researched that area at my university. I do have a hardwired color to letter/number set. It has never changed. They say people who have it have gifted art and music talents in their mind at least, but most have a difficult time putting it in a physical form. I would like to mention though there is a difference between "having it" and "experiencing a similar synesthia related incident. It literally has to be happening all the time, although of course you are not always conscious of it. I've had friends say "oh I've experienced that listening to music and picture the painted lines going by on the road." But everyone can imagine strikes or physical appearances with a beat, otherwise there would be no such thing as written music. Just had to say it because it always gets to me when i try to explain it and people don't have a clue what I'm talking about. When they finally understand they are led to believe they have truly experienced what I have on several occurances. Whatever.

#1 I hate that strip of extra pavement in #2, and I like the idea of having 1 side up close to the street like #1 has.
