  1. SC2000 building BATs: office park by toxicpiano

Where it is in the Lot Editor? Read this chapter https://www.simtropolis.com/tutorials/Essential_Bat/index.cfm?page=ingame.htm of Pillippbos tutorial and You are fine off with everything i guess.
  2. SC2000 building BATs: office park by toxicpiano

Freezing when rendering? Most common newbie error is that people think that they can work with other programs during the render. That is a big no-no. Click render, do not touch the mouse or the keyboard and let Your computer take its time. Rendering is not an instant action, it would take a minute or two to render this building on a 2.4 - 3.0 Ghz machine. Restart the computer, do not open any unnessecary programs and render again. It should work.

The guitar pic is broken [edit: now it is working again?!?!]. However, You need to be a little artistic and change the design I guess. A neon tube is 1-2 centimeters in diameter and a tube in BAT needs at least 10 centimeters diameter to actually display in-game. Try to nightlight the neon tube using the near and far attenuation to only light the neon tube: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//lights.jpg align=baseline>

If Yoy want to hide the light rig (yellow thing), tick here: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//lites.jpg align=baseline> Note that this hides all lights, including Your own nightlights!

Toxicpiano You cannot judge the colours from the working view. You need to render to see what they actually look like. Renders always turns out much brighter! I do not think You need to enlarge the building, it really looks good IMHO. Try to be as accurate as possible to the original when it comes to the volume, I think that the SC2000ers want to recognize it as good as it can get. Threre are so much of detailing (window frames, entrance...) that is not visible in SC2000 that needs to be invented so I think it is best to stick to the original in those aspects where You can. The building looks very promising, not bad for a beginner!
  6. SC2000 building BATs: office park by toxicpiano

Well, Toxicpiano would I suggest that You make another approach to the building. It will be very hard to work on that model. For a building like this, I would suggest this method: 1. Build one column, one beam and one window. Take Your time to make it nice and detailed. Look at close-up photos (or the real thing) of similar buildings to get it all right. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//redbldg1.jpg align=baseline> 2. Group it all and use copy-rotate to create a box like this https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//redbldg2.jpg align=baseline> PLEASE NOTE: When You copy, always use instance so that You can change things easily afterwards if necessary. 3. Use array to stack a lot of boxes to a building. Delete the undesired blocks in the corners. If Your computer starts to lag, then You can delete the unnessecary parts inside the building as well. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//redbldg3.jpg align=baseline> Now You need to make another box with a floor, a balustrade and some greenery to put in the right places in a similar way. Then You are almost finished! Preview: I used Your texture, the red colour is far too bright, it would look like candy in-game. Make it a little darker and much less colour-intense. For the windows, the easiest way is to use a plain colour in Gmax. Maybe You want the windows darker than this, well You can pick any colour... Please have in mind: this is not a perfect building or my best shot! I made it quick to show the technique, not to show how the building sholuld actually look!! That is up to You, toxicpiano!
  7. BAT Help - Render Related Issues

Toxicpiano, if Your model is only 40 polys it would render in a minute on Your computer! ...but are You sure that it is only 40 polys? A cube consists of at least 12 polys! I suggest: Make a new scene, build a 16x16x16 cube, center it and render. If it renders good, then there is something wrong with Your old model. If it messes up, then it is something wrong with your installation/ settings.
  8. BAT Help - Render Related Issues

Okay Creature... If Your building is 16 meters wide, the street facade will be about 110 pixels wide. If that is what You get is everything OK, that is what it will look like in the game at the closest zoom. To be absolutely sure that there is nothing wrong with the size of Your building, draw a new box and type in its dimensions of 16 x 16 x 16 meters. If Your building fits fairly well inside the box then the building has the right size.
  9. TEXTURES: Official Thread

Just if anyone would be interested, I post some useful textures if You would like to make a nice flat roof. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//asphalt1.JPG align=baseline> https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//mjb_april1718bbb.jpg align=baseline> https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//castle4-darkest.jpg align=baseline> https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//dirtyground-dark.jpg align=baseline> https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//asfaltE.jpg align=baseline> https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//RoofTexture3.jpg align=baseline> (this has been posted before, a gift to the batters from Maxis)
  10. TEXTURES: Official Thread

Commercial Building? Hmm Well Red Hawk I guess You need something for a roof like this: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//singer.jpg align=baseline> Here is the slate: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//roof_c1.jpg align=baseline> Here is the copper: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//cu-roof.jpg align=baseline> Good luck with Your building!! ...or do You want something else? Try to be more specific when You post questions here and You will get much better answers...

Creature, If You want to have a closer look at the rendering: If You have a scroll wheel mouse, just roll the wheel to zoom.
  12. BAT Help - Render Related Issues

An answer to a post a bit up in the thread, that totally gray render. Well I had never had anything that bad but I had problems a bit like this. I think I found out one of Gmax hidden features. At least it seems that Gmax only cares about the first eight letters in the texture bitmap file name. So if You have two textures named for example empirestatewall.jpg empirestateroof.jpg Gmax then thinks that two textures share the file name empirest, gets totally confused and renders gray. File names should be something like wallempirestate.jpg roofempirestate.jpg
  13. Looking for sc2000 Original Tileset

Closer zoom?? This IS the closest zoom. Se Your desktop resolution to 640 pixels width like most people had back then and You will see the buildings in true scale When You made BAT buildings for Sim City 2000, You usually made a window 1x2 pixels and a car 2x4 pixels. A small lot (1x1 tile in-game) is only 32 pixels wide in Sim City 2000!
  14. Looking for sc2000 Original Tileset

My favourites (besides the LARGEST one - the Ksim ) is the 2x2 red brick office building with the tower and the Office Park - the bright red 3x3 building with the stepped terraces... well maybe I will put them up on my list... after about 123 other buildings :-)
  15. vda Amsterdam Damrak 80 81 Arnold Gilissens Bank

Splendid as always! I really like those buildings based on serious research!
  16. Looking for sc2000 Original Tileset

    I had a look at Hanson784
  17. Burj Khalifa

The building looks really cool! The texturing and lighting looks already very good, too! I hope You have a good computer for the rendering work
  18. Castalia

Sorry but the colours are far to bright and colourful!
  19. Hamburg W2W

Hello Erdmoebel, nice to have You back here! I started batting again after a long break too, and I am currently working on a large R$$$ berlin building (see my building thread). Those buildings look promising, keep the good work up!
  20. Statue of Robert E Lee

I love BATs with a story behind! Thanks and keep up the good work!
  21. ISAT-Showcase

Oh and one more thing about realism... those sun-blinds are not very realistic. In real life, sun-blinds like those on a tall building would not stand the strong winds! Maybe you could make some more solid construction like slideable blinds?
  22. Palace of Westminster

Looks fantastic! I cant wait to have this in one of my cities!
  23. ISAT-Showcase

I really like the Isat Hotel. The shapes of the building are not seen in Sim City before so this will be a nice addition. The roof junk looks good too, but let me suggest a little improvement. Skyscrapers never have roof junk added in a way that makes it visible when seing the building from the ground at some distance. This is mostly solved by extending the walls over the roof surface or to build fake walls. Like those examples: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Untitled-py.jpg align=baseline> You can see this on most scyscrapers like Mies Seagram Building. There are blank walls on top of the building to hide the roof junk. http://www.nyu.edu/classes/reichert/sem/city/images/mies_seagram.jpg align=baseline>
  24. ISAT Vetarox HQ

    Loogs great, nice design idea!
  25. SHARK Hotel

    Superklasse!
