After years of enjoying SimCity 4 with NAM, I thought I'd post some of my more recent cities' interchanges here. As you can see, I like to make my interchanges as tight as possible, without becoming unrealistic.
I'll begin with the northernmost exit. (Note: north is actually at the bottom of this picture.) This is just a simple and compact diamond interchange with an extra level of railway tracks underneath. As a bonus this picture also features a double railway interchange.
Next up: the eastern interchange. (Note: north is now at the top of the picture.) This wasn't an easy one to create, and I am rather proud if it. In fact, this is a double T-interchange: one for through traffic on level 1, and one for the exit on level 0. There is an extra exit on the through traffic viaduct a little further away from the interchange. This double exit setup eased traffic congestion a lot in comparison to a setup with only one exit, but it required a rather challenging interchange.
Further down the road: the central interchange and exit. I created a setup where the highway to the south leaves the interchange diagonally. There's also an exit integrated in the interchange.
The western interchange is located further west through the highway tunnel. This is again a double interchange with one being an exit to the industrial zone, and another being an exit straight into the city via a highway tunnel in southern direction.
The tunnel from the exit ends at a central roundabout in one of the city's cores. (Note: north is on the left of this picture.)
Now there's only one interchange in this city I didn't cover yet: the southern interchange and exit. This one is situated on the highway that leaves the 'central interchange' diagonally in south-eastern direction, as you might remember. The interchange and exit features collector-distributor lanes, because otherwise the exits and entrances would sit rather close to each other. The area is not yet fully developed, so the highway may get an extra exit further down the road in south-western direction later on. Both the 4-lane highway in the south-western direction and the 2-lane highway in the south-eastern direction just lead to the city's boundaries for now, without having developed area's surrounding it yet. This makes the interchange being almost unused for now. The exits are used however.
So, that's what I have for this 'Show us your...' thread. Hope you enjoyed it!
