To demolish or nor to demolish? ... that is the question
Mr Hoot posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Just a couple of quickie questions, 1) If a residential building becomes abandoned due to a long commute time, is there any advantage in demolishing it so it can re-grow? 2) Will buildings grow quicker if I demolish them straight after upgrading a zone (say from low to medium density residential)? Cheers! -
To demolish or nor to demolish? ... that is the question

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions guys! -
I would like to know how the following would work: City A is a large Residential and Commercial city. City B is a medium Industrial city. City A is joined by rail and road to City B. If I make City C Residential and also join it to City B will it share the Industry or will the city with the largest demand take most of the Industry? Is the AI intelligent enough to work this out? Thanks in advance.

Adjoining Cities: Sharing Industry

Yes, jason leo, that's exactly what I meant - glad you could do the graphic for me So will cities A and C share the Industry in B or will the larger city get most of it? Or will one take it all? -
Is there anyone out there that could make a stand-alone model of Stonehenge? I would appreciate it if someone could make a reasonable BAT of this great ancient monument. Cheers David

Australia braces for a scorcher with temperatures shooting past 40 degrees...
Mr Hoot replied to ROFLyoshi's topic in Current Events
I'm in central Victoria and the temp here is rising rapidly and the aircon is going at 10 am. On black Saturday in 2009 the fires were only about 3 kilometres away. We have a large State forest adjoining our block... Fire plan ready to be activated, though I hope it's not necessary. Stay safe everyone! -
Hi, I am also a newbie and a computer illiterate. I was encouraged to install NAM and after a taking a huge breath I installed it... and... and... everything worked fine!!! It was quite simple even for me and nothing screwed up. So go ahead... soon you'll be downloading buildings and stuff and just breezing through it! Merry Christmas!

Hi all, I have just started playing SC4 and have the following (newbie) question: How many tiles should I have between subway stations and/or bus stops. Mine only seem to get minimal usage. I have NO mods installed as I am an old codger with no idea how to even unzip a folder let alone install one! Thanks in advance.

Distance between Subway Stations / Bus Stops
Mr Hoot replied to Mr Hoot's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Since my last post I bit the bullet and went ahead and installed NAM and miraculously it seems to be working! Of course I haven't really played with it that much but there are a heap more streets/roads/highways and trams and stuff. I think it might be an idea for me to start a new city and experiment a little. Nonny Moose: Thanks for your easy step-by-step instructions. Only bit I am unsure about now is step 8. Where do I find the hotfix thingy? Is it a separate download or is it lurking somewhere on my hard-drive? Thanks everyone for taking pity on a computer illiterate like me -
Distance between Subway Stations / Bus Stops

Thanks for all the help guys. I have checked the version and it's OK also downloaded the NAM thingy (note the technical terms). A couple more questions please. 1: I have opened the unzipped file and am rather bewildered at the range of boxes to tick. If I want to change one of the options later on, is this possible? 2: Is there a way to undo this mod if I don't get it right? By the way, my sims are now using the subway and busses quite well now even without the mod. Thanks again.
