I can't see EA/Maxis doing this, they do support their online games for free(when you buy the game new). They make their money from mini transactions and DLC. I would worry that their efforts to make money from DLC would hamper modders, if they can make a dollar from someone who would buy a " Skyscraper Pack" with 20 new towers, why would they allow modders to distribute their creation for free? We will see how it plays out but I have always thought that EA could really make a fortune from SC DLC alone.

I plan on building a new PC for this game(it's time for a new build anyways), I want to make sure I will be able to run this game on Max settings and be able to handle all the mods I will run. I am thinking: CPU Intel I5 3570k, 16G of ram, GTX 680 for my VC, 120g SSD. Those are the main parts but I plan on spending about $2000.

I will say this about the modding, the Internet requirement could seriously hamper this(everyone in the server will have to have the same mods). I'm not saying this will be a great game but i will give it a chance, Maxis has given me hundreds of hours of enjoyment in my life so buying this game is the least I can do. -

Uninstall your entire SC4 file, complete with mods, then reinstall(no rush hour). Tell me how great that game is- 89 Replies

I have lurked these forums for years and you guys have been so helpful in regards to SC4 which I still play to this day. That being said, Maxis is not making this game for us(fanatics-if your here your a fanatic), games that are being made today are being made for casual players, for better or worse. This happens to so many games though, Civilization, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, and Ghost recon just to name a few. When a game is too complicated, it turns new people off, Sim City 4 is a complicated game so at some point it needed to be dumbed down to attract a broader audience. My favorite game (besides SC) is Civilization 4, that game was incredibly deep(and complicated) so when CIV5 came out I was livid that it was dumbed down. The biggest mistake Maxis could do is to make SC a winnable game, SC was never about winning but learning from mistakes from previous cities and just try and do better with each city. Civilization 5 has no soul in that its went away from being a world simulation to being being a game that had a predictable ending. That is my biggest worry for SC, I really hope the developers find a balance to please us SC nerds. I don't know if you guys remember but SC4 at launch was not good. I am pretty confident given the talented community here and EA's knack for getting every last penny from its consumers(expansion packs and lots of them!) that this will game turn out to be very good over time. All that being said, even if this game is simple, with each expansion and new game, it can only get deeper...

Hello, I am Jim and I have been a lurker here since SC4 got released. I figured with the new SC coming out this would be a good time to actually start contributing . I have to give credit to the folks who run this site, you do a great job!
