I just wish they had a few Canadian Landmarks like in the past. The CN Tower, Chateau Frontenac, and or Parlement would have been amazing

Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
RoseCityAlive replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
It doesn't prevent piracy but it does penalize genuine paying customers who for whatever reason don't have a permanent connection or don't want to open their computer up to snooping from outside. Just because online is more fun for you doesn't mean it is for all of us, some of us play games to escape from people, the last thing I want is other people involved in my game time. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be a social element for those who do want it but there is no justification for forcing it on us, certainly not under the lie of it preventing piracy. I think that merely having an internet connection required to play in and of itself is hardly a reason to not buy a game. Firstly, there is a single player mode, and secondly, most games are going this way. Maybe it's not a reason for for you but it is for me and many others. If EA can afford to lose a large chunk of sales that's up to them, there are still plenty of games I can play that don't require always online connections. I don't care how many new games go this way, I simply won't buy any of them. This is what gaming is now, I dont think EA will notice. -
As a marketer I can tell you that they do. Other then the development team, the marketing department is the next most important division. As we can all see by members of Maxis that comment on the forum or someone like Ocean, Developers can also be directly involved in marketing.
-
They also have "Park and Ride" lots that are enabled for transit. i just haven't noticed any parking structures yet.
-
I think thats just a strange glitch on the Arena picture, the parking lot also disappears. Im sure this game (like all others) will come with a Day 1 patch for most of this stuff, thats fine by me.
-
i love that the stadiums and arenas acutely have events. it would be cool if you could bid to host things like the sim superbowl in your city, or if your region could bid to host the olympics. It would be neat if you could attract sports teams to your facilites to play the other cities in your region. you could have a sim victory parade if they win.

SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
RoseCityAlive replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
They dont do beta tests while a game is already Gold. Network tests maybe, but beta...no. They are already stamping the CDs. The game entered gold state before ever getting a polish day. Im sorry but thats very worrying. The "beta" you are seeing upcoming is a network test at best..and a marketing ploy to increase pre-orders at worst. (pre-order today and get access to the beta!!), A game where the CDs are being stamped is no longer in beta stage as much as they want to call it that. Regardless, they can put in a release day patch. Exactly! They could have started stamping the DVDs the day they announced the game was in development and it wouldn't have made a difference, because this game is constantly connected to Origin they can patch and change things all they want. Remember Calling it "Gold" is implying that its in the final stages of development and then thats it, its out, but we all know that when a game is released it is never completely finished, patches, tweaks, and tuning are constantly going on. Look at Battlefield 3 as a great example of post launch support. I think we will see this same thing with Simcity. -

You have to remember that this is the reason that the do Beta tests, to find little things like that. Also im sure hundreds of small changes happen every day thanks to the devs. I think its safe to assume that if a new beta was launched right now, by tomorrow at the same time it would be out of date. Im not worried. -
it's just another typically deceiving screenshot. they're just cutting it off so you don't see the unnatural square border that's very close to the edges of this screenshot i'm sure. Ya your probably right though I did read a tweet from Ocean today that said he would like to make he city tiles take up the entire region. Hopefully in the coming months and years it can be done.

Looks bigger then the tile in the beta. Possibly experimenting with bigger tiles?

New Video: "SimCity Shows Off Three Major Landmarks"
RoseCityAlive replied to ItsShane's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Canadians have landmarks? SC3k and SC4 have the CN Tower (as well as the re-release of SC2k). CN tower(Toronto), peace tower and parliament (Ottawa) Saint Joseph's Oratory (Montréal) Chateau Frontenac would all be really great landmarks for simcity. The last two would work really well in the French tile set -

I look forward to trying all aspects of play styles in the game. I want to play alone, but im also interested in playing with my friends and with people from here in the community. Everyone is up in arms about something they havent even tried yet. It may suck, or it may be great, non of us know yet. Im not going to knock it till I try it. -
SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
RoseCityAlive replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Im just very interested in how "Park N' Ride" lots will work. I think they said they would have them. I wonder if its simply just a parking lot/structure or if its a lot/structure that is transit enabled. Possibly with the modules. Adding a bus or street car terminal or a ferry dock would be a great option. Also I wonder how parking is going to work in general. -
! Suggest Maps to Maxis !
RoseCityAlive replied to Greyflame's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Windsor/Detroit! a real life version of the new SC. neighbors crime, pollution can spread to other cities, and one cities success and affect the others. Also people travel from one city (and country) to the other for work, events, fun and to access things like travel (airports and trains) Windsor and Detroit is the new Simcity -
With PS3 getting a mouse and keyboard for games such as CS:GO it wouldn't be out of the world of possibility. But I think it all depends on how it does on PC.

SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
RoseCityAlive replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
According to what I'd posted in the reply before you, there are going to be trams in the game. I'd like to see a cohesive mass-transit system: Buses (intercity and intracity) Heavy Rail Light Rail/Trams High Speed Rail Subway/Elevated Rail Monorail Ferry I think in some of the footage from E3 or Gamescon that you can see one or two busses on the street from behind. I think things that have been confirmed are Buses Commuter Trains (including High speed Rail) LRT (trams) Ferrys for Cities on the water Rapid Transit (subway/El Trains and Monoral) are still the mystery -

I think that if you run out then you will be forced to buy off the market to keep your industry going, or be faced with a real life scenario of resesion that will force your city readjust or diversify your economy much like a real city. -
SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
RoseCityAlive replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
One thing i found interesting from the Maxis Gamescon stream was that they said that a number of different train types and systems can be put in place. Two things they said was that Regional commuter trains were available to move sims from neighbouring citys, Think of Torontos "Go Train" system. This will be a nice feature if you build a city with a dense downtown, you will have the ability to move thousands of people a day into the core of your city, and then ship them home at the end of the work day, Second, they said High Speed Raid train like the ones in Europe and Asia would be available to move sims from city to city over longer distance. I think that this is a great idea. When i think of all the activity in a place like downtown Toronto's Union Station that comes from just the use of regional commuter trains, I makes me think that yes this simcity is going to be different but in may ways its going to allow us to create modern cities if we choose. -
Just saw simcity at gamescon 2012 press conferance, no community concerns addressed
RoseCityAlive replied to kwetzel345's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
This one has a different User Interface than above, although the one above seems much more final. Its on the oil well, but it's strange to see this one with the RCI display and options, while the above doesn't Its very interesting though. Strange how there are two, maybe more UI's. It may be that you get different information through each building. But i guess we'll see tomorrow- or in the beta just how its gonna work out. Just pointing out some stuff I've seen in the video. I think in the first shot one of two thing might be happening with the number of cars vs population. First it might be the number or cars that can travel over the road an hour before the road hits max capacity. Two it might be the number or cars in the city. Remember sims can commute from oth cities for work/play. -

Im not a fan of the forced MP but with that being said I am interested in it. I would like to play alone, but I am also very interested in playing with my friends and even more interested in playing in a public region. -
SimCity: Multiplayer Discussion
RoseCityAlive replied to Vahr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'm feeling confident in MP. I look at Simtrop as a large community that is passionate about simcity and about creating realistic virtual cities and I think that it would be great to play with the community. -
At the very least from the screenshots, the cities feel different, and they look alive. If i get that feeling from just the screenshots then i cant wait to get my hands on the game.

SimCity: Multiplayer Discussion
RoseCityAlive replied to Vahr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
As much as im sceptical about MP im going to take the wait and see approach. Maxis is Maxis and they have built this franchies to what we love, Many of the developers from SC4 are working on this game and that gives me hope. Who knows this game might be everything we all wanted out of simcity, then again it might not be, with over half a year of development still to go, I think that we would all be jumping the gun to rip it apart now. Sure the always online thing sounds odd to us but you have to remember that EA is the company providing funding for this game and they are trying to sell Origen as much as possible. That aside the Technology that Maxis has shown us with Glassbox is very impressive, and because of this im going to wait till i play it myself before passing judgement on it.
