yep it is lame... plus, iirc, it's split half between story and online mode
-
so this game is still being played, yes?
-
I'll preorder the PC version in mid december, still hoping for some more gimmicks than just 1mio cash, although I doubt it the blista thing really bugged me but now that the old blista is back on the set
-
since the preload has happened already, the interweb is full of nice spoiling content of the re-release, showing all kinds of screenshots. this one here makes me really happy: now I can finally do what I wanted to do right from the pre-release announcements last year
-
my very first flight instructor would've yelled "where's my damn center line" taxiing like that for more than 5 seconds ^^ trust me, everyone that went through his team sticks to the line like on a rail nice picture tho

at first glance, "printing" a lunar base sounds ridiculous (tbh, I thought I was going to see a scale model made in a 3D printer)... at close look, it's about the smartest idea for initial colonization steps, not just for the moon but also mars, given that the printed structures keep the promised integrity

Yes I wonder what'll happen with all the content on the "old" platforms. I read somewhere that there will be no discrepancy between "V1" and "V2" but that would mean that a lot of V2 only content (next to the extra content for returning players like myself and the obvious changes like fps and better overall fidelty, there's also a long list of new content which has not yet been confirmed for V1) has to be patched into V1 to pull up par with the relaunch which I doubt would happen. On the bottom line this means that all the extra content can't be considered for mission design IF the the above statement can be considered valid information... and this would be a real downer for V2 as this would render all the new vehicles (32 according to CVG) and the new animals (>20 according to R*) and weapons pretty much a benefit rather than an obligation. Again, this is based on the fact that I can't remember seeing any solid news confirming that the non-exclusive additional content will definitely be ported to V1. Also, neon: I guess one can say I just bought this game. hey R* you're awesome, only took you a year to keep your vehicle-customization promise "nothing says class like neon"

Since I don't have a PS4 yet and still am reluctant to buy one for the lack of games I'm interested in, all I can do is get it for PC. My GPU is slowly turning into a bottleneck anyway so i guess I'm not too far away from an upgrade here. My bragging ego and also my bank account are flirting dead-on with a Titan Black but I guess by the time V comes to stores, there will be something solid release-wise on the heavily rumored 980ti which is said to beat the Titan Black with ease... so let's se what's what in 2 months time. Either way I'll keep my good ole 560ti for dedicated physx. Also, I have a nuclear reactor to produce enough power for this setup. Only thing that really bothers me about the PC version is the assumed Denuvo DRM so I really have to buy the game again lol j/k I can see why R* decided to go for this yet uncracked DRM... I just hope it doesn't screw up everything like securom did and that they don't impose an activation limit. I'm the fiddling kind of pc guy so every now and then I have to start from scratch software wise
-
I like it too
-
so who's gonna hop in on the next gen / pc train? I was thinking about giving the pc version a try but now that more facts are out, I'll definitely gonna get it (again)... especially the ego perspective sold it to me
-
uhm... extra-violent movies anyone? just sayin...

If aliens wanted to invade our planet they would have done so thousands of years ago. Either our area of the galaxy is very quiet in extraterrestrial activity, or we humans just ain't interesting enough to be paid a visit (or possibly too dangerous), or aliens are following a version of the Federation's Prime Direction which is from Star Trek. Aliens -- most of them anyway -- don't make direct contact because we have not reached a certain technological, social and moral level. objection. why would an invasion have happened already? look how many millenia it took "us" to get where we are now in terms of technology. very likely the same for all other hypothetical species out there. some faster some slower, all depending on their mental and physical capabilities, social and governmental structures and also, another big point, their available natural resources. they're able to come here certainly means that at least their knowledge of space-travel and all linked technologies is beyond human standard, but it doesn't say anything about when they've reached this point. that nothing alike happened yet doesn't mean a thing as there's multiple possible reasons beyond "lack of interest" or fear (missing technology, missing knowledge of our existence, too far away, not to mention that we need a capable species in the first place). we can't even be certain what other species look like or an actual invasion. a death star blowing earth away or id4-style blown out war or a simple hazmat probe toxicating life out of us. jeez, maybe this ball of light is the invasion force, a giant battle star... just pointless as we're talking of a bazillion amoeba-sized aliens trying to conquer our world... you never know anyways, I'm with what the space guy says in the video. space junk, most likely human made is my first guess also when I look at the video

you can give andy a try (www.andyroid.net). it's a freeware up-to-date android os emulator outpacing even some of the payware emulators as it offers a great package for no costs. keep in mind tho that many games take full advantage of the handheld features like touchscreen and motion sensor, which might ruin gameplay on a pc/mac

oh wow only now I see that we're talking about a 2nd hand rig... sort of skipped that the first time still I'd like to keep the ruling on the field standing in terms of the os-thing. 7 is really the way to go. there's contradicting reports about how much 8 sucks or kicks butt, some say it's ok, some say it's not, others say it's basically a desktop port of a touchscreen/mobile os other's say it's that thing of the future. but one thing all have in common: it's gaming capabilities are not the best, especially with xp-era titles you most likely run into serious trouble. my personal experience is that it's real cool for mobile platforms and if you run your desktop on touchscreen. the offered desktop view is almost as cool as a real desktop os, but it's basically just an app imitating the "common" desktop interface rather than a real mode. and with all the playful things like xbox and live and all the online features it's just too far away from what I wan't my desktop's os to do. if I need this stuff, there's programs for it, not the os that needs these abilities. ok you have to put down another 100 bucks for a new win7 license but trust me, it's worth it for gaming purposes. since it's used that's all I would change really. my initial "criticism" considered the value for money of a newly build pc. I guess you won't pay too much for it anyway. after all, it's a decent running setup. keep in mind that the gpu turns into the first bottleneck in 2 years latest as it causes lag even in todays most demanding titles, e.g. full hd, 8xaa and highest details in max payne 3 won't get you over 30fps

make that 760 a 780ti. yes it's more expensive at first, but the performance benefits are worth every cent (per se about 50% faster than the 760). also, in the long run, the 780ti saves you money even cuz it's a hell of a gpu and gives you great performance for much longer than the 760. further, you can get up to 25% more performance if you put in some extra oc on top of the 780ti's stock-oc of 12% compared to the 780 (taking into account only nvidia's reference clock, I know that msi's 780ti is even better). no need to mention that the 780ti outpaces the titan in every aspect but g-ram and a little over half the price. this consideration makes the psu a bit of a concern at 600w... a 700w or 750w psu would strongly increase my comfort zone and only costs a few bucks more, if at all. can't complain about the ram, I run the same (the high profile version with the cooling plates) and I'm happy with it. yes, I had to rma it but corsiar support works like a charm and there's really worse things that can go wrong in a pc than the ram. another concern to me is the cpu. for multimedia use the 8350 is really good and 8cores/threads @4ghz and this price read like a good catch, but don't fall for numbers as virtually all gaming benchmarks place it behind the i5 3450 which runs on 4cores/threads @3.1ghz for even a lower price and almost half the power consumption granted, I am an intel fanboy as literally all my amd machines died on faulty hardware - which wass over 10yrs ago so don't take it as a reference - but looking at the benchmarks, in the mid-range and high-end segment it gets obvious that amd is one or two steps behind intel. and pretty pretty pretty pretty please, for the sake of all that matters to you in this life and all other lifes you might live, keep your fingers off win 8. ever since windows was born, you have to skip every other os because it's crap and 8 again continues this cycle. get yourself win7. if 8 is the way windows works from now on, 7 is the last "real" windows and will grow to xp-fame, promised.

Official: Microsoft has bought Mojang AB (Minecraft) for $2.5 billion.
GMT replied to Xenocity's topic in Gaming Talk
just because ms bought mojang doesn't mean mojang's gone and done for... same for minecraft. after all, ms isn't ea no seriously tho, there's a bazillion of companies owned by bigger companies that still do their job the way or even better than before acquisition (just look at the network unilever, p&g,general mills, nestle and co created). most of this stuff happens simply to cash in on both sides. in this case, ms want's a piece of the bigedy big big minecraft cake and the mojang guys cashed in real big money for their trademark rights. I mean, it's not like mojang was in financial trouble at any point thanks to minecraft, so they probably put the bar up very high to close the deal, $2.5b is quite a number. since ms payed and certainly didn't had any competition to fear from mojang, it's a simple investment thing; they expect the revenue from minecraft and other mojang projects to cover the costs really fast. for this, they better not change the winning team (at least if you say team=software cashcow). otherwise they can say byebye to $2.5b well dumped -
pretty much what I expected, although I was in favor of a separation. the vote was basically with the undecided and as a matter of fact, mankind rather settles with the status quo than with change unless status quo is of unbearable nature, the more so if change in recent times didn't turn out to be too good. therefore I was expecting the undediced to vote against a separation of scotland. no dramatic need for change as the status quo in scotland is pretty good... sad but I guess we have to postpone the end of the european union a couple more years

I'm more interested in seeing what happens, in europe, if the referendum ends in favor of a separation. not just would it light a wildfire of new separational ideas in some of the areas known for strong independence-movements (corsica, catalonia, basque country just to name some of the more prominent). this would also mean to rethink certain foreign policies in the western world and shed a new light on the crimea/eastern ukraine thing, because "we" certainly won't call a possible scottish pro-separation vote as quickly a foul play as we did with the crimean referendum and this imho must bring up a lot of inconvenient questions

wow I didn't know jacky's still in town... anyways, here's my dearest of cats, meet Felix. Got him from a shelter a few months after our first cat died from colorectal cancer... and he's big. not fat-big, but size-big. I mean, yes he weighs almost 14lbs but then again, he scores a little over 2.75 ft from nose to tail, quite a show for a cat... plus he has really long hair (in winter he has a real mane like a lion)... not sure "what" he is tho. something between siberian and norwegian forest cat but definitely more landrace than domesticated as he shows a behaviour more common with wildcats (lotta hissing, one-way purring, movement, "language",...) but it doesn't really matter to us what he is in terms of racial classification. he's a playful, friendly, smart and thankful character and perfectly fits into our househould, something that matters much more than anything else could and should ever matter with pets

why the frak can't you chose the minecraft installation folder!? thanks to this and a neglected backup policy on my side, I lost about 2 months of modeling when I rebuilt my pc a few months back... now I can't even find the cool texture pack anymore. aaahhh screw this... also, I can't get 1.5.2 to run with fml in the new mc loader so screw this aswell. sticking to the original 1.5.2 further unless I find all the mods I use for 1.7.x thanks for such a coherent modding policy, mojang... none of you happen to have the Aeon Texture Pack for 1.5.2 (NOT Aeon Legacy Textures)? got it back... looks like there's 2 different Aeon Legacy Textures... hd and normal, the latter is the droid I was looking for EDIT ok so I thought let's do some customizing on that texture pack... getting there... gotta love optifine and ctm...

here in germany, it really depends on where you look for your pc. dedicated (online) stores rarely sell 32bit systems but the electronic chains or department stores sell many 32bit systems for a fair price. more than enough for your casual pc needs and regular office work, which I count many of the core sims players to (for a fact, I know a lot of people, mainly girls, that are not at all into gaming but play the sims, in person and from sims forums) further, even tho 64bit systems go as far back as the 1970s super computers (IBM Stretch), it's still a "rather" new thing in public/gaming use. if it'll ever happen, I guess we look at another couple years until 64bit is as established a standard that you won't find 32bit systems anymore. this is also evident in the list of x64 games. actually, most games supporting 64bit come with x86 and x64 executables and only very few games are 64bit only. most games, even todays aaa titles often come in 32bit only. of course it's a drawback not to design games for state of the art hardware, but with all love in ea-bashing, I must say that you need to take a look at your audience when designing the "show", no need to give a rock concert when the audience wants jazz and then again, you want to earn money (and ea wants to earn money really really bad) so the wider the range of customers, the better.
-
a sidethought on that 32bit thing: it allows for a wider band of customers. further, I guess the wide majority of sims players are casuals and girls not really into that pc thing, most likely still sitting on an older machine of pre-64bit or when 64bit was too expensive for the normal user. I mean, even today many pcs in the budget sector are 32bit and unless you really have a need for 64bit - which is unlikely as a casual (gamer) and office-like pc user - you don't need no 64bit at all. of course, there's also folks like myself that have a pretty good gaming rig with all the gimmicks of todays gaming that could do magic in the sims if the game was 64bit but I honestly think that's the minor part of this game's community. what they should've done is - I know this from many productive releases - give the game a 32bit and a 64bit executable and corresponding architecture but I guess this would have been too much work put into a self-supporting cash cow... after all, we're still talking about ea games, it's a matter of fact that they think from their account to your wallet and not an inch further
