Middle european climate mod V2 + Alpine forest mod
mayspacy posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I worked it out. It tooks me hours of trying out. And now it is finished. The full realism of middle european climate for sim city 4. Including realistic looking alpine forests Here is what you get soon: Climate Mod Version 2 standard with upper mountain forest (Pine forest and then pine/oak mixed forest) The winter edition with the same forest addon The lower landscape of climate mod (standard) mixed forest and then without pine trees. Lower elevations with the winter edition of this mod. And the Middle european mod Version 2 with a little lower snow limit. The forest mod will be included as addon. Without this addon mod you don't get that amount of trees like you see on the pictures. They are taken at elevations above 900m. Snow limit with standard mod is 2100m, with lower snow cap 1600m and with winter edition 970m. -

Project: Mountain Transport way (rope ways)
mayspacy posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
A few days ago I made some experiments with el rail transit enabled lots (an existing el rail station lot). I did a custom prop (a rope) on this lot and then tested it ingame. And yes The train got over the ropes still visible . Yes yes a rope way gondola don't drive over the ropes But someone could make a gondola that drives under the ropes. Should be possible . Here is a picture of the try out with the existing station lot: Problems: ---If I used a blank lot and made it transit enabled with all the transit I/O properties etc. I could not build it. The lot appeared not in the park menu (Try out version is in park menu currently). And if I don't make the I/O properties the train can't get through the lot. Possible solution: ---Using again an existing el rail station lot and then making that the train don't stop in the lot. But where is the property that sets stopping or not Or must I define the lot as a park lot then? But how ? I know there are some professionel light rail or el rail modders here. I hope that project will be realised one day Now I try out ways to make that lot working right. And: If this works the lot may must be one part and this means it gets very long. Because building slope conforming lots together on a hill will give a destroyed rope way. -

I remade the middle european mod because there was a problem withplanting forests on mountains. If you use the new middle european modwith the alpine forest mod you can plant realistic looking alpineforests now. You get the different forest stages from a few trees tooak forest, mixed forest, pine forest and the high alpine bush and pineflora. For details how to use the mod and what you get with the differentversions read the readme. If you have questions write a private messageor use the forum. I will try to help you there. -

[:0] That would be great if you can do that. Or do it with the monorail. The el rail is used often for city networks. Monorail not. But what you mean with: The only downside would be that you'd have to create a new puzzle piece for the mountainside But thank you -

BATers could help making my middle european mod more intersting. And the whole game also without mod What about a weather station? Need not be animated so far. A valley and a mountain version. That would be GREEEAAT for me (I am a weather freak , that's because I'm working on climate mods) And a meteorological and climate research institute (working as high school). PLEEEASE I will search some pictures of what I mean to make it easier for people who don't know how a weather station looks. I'm not able to make that detailed things with the BAT that's beacause I ask you. Edit: Pictures of weather station parts anemometer (is 10m above ground) another anemometer (is 10m above ground) regular temperature sensor (is 2m above ground) simple temperature sensor (2m above ground) rain gauge (Can be 1m above ground for this BAT weather station) and another temperature sensor. a weather station sketch should be possible

Middle european climate mod V2 + Alpine forest mod
mayspacy replied to mayspacy's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
with version 1 of this mod you had nearly no trees on mountains. In region view that looked unrealistic. After uploading that new middle european mod I will give you a link to the other climate and terrain mods because I will not upload the whole pack once more (I call that cheating) . And I will make an easier readme -

Date: 1/3/2005 10:08:06 AM Author: ExiL3 Well it's me again. Well about 20 min ago I downloaded a new jpg with some nice terrain and a even nicer mountain range... so I thought ur mod wuld be perfect here. But I was wrong. In the terrain there was supposed to be a river, when i used the mod there was only some cliffs left. I found out that if i lovered the terrain 20 times the river would be there again, but then ur snow and stuff would be gone! To add it all up: Ur mod seams to rise the terrain 20 times, automaticaly... Can u fix that? Anyway it looked good, it's just better when it's possible to have a river there too. Anyway thanks!quote> Yes this is a problem with image import modding. ALL the terrain gets higher. 1 Grey tone is = 12,5m there. Water level with default import then is at around 255m (or at a Grey tone of 85 of 255 possible) With the mod you get 255m high terrain already at a grey tone of 20. I hope you unterstand that Sorry but i can't fix that. That's the effect you get with this mod and there is no other way to get high mountains with greyscale maps I will try to make image import mods which allows mountain tops of 1500/2000/2500 instead of 3300m (and may lowering snow limit) and then it will be possible to get water easier. Hand lowering the terrain seems to be one solution in this case. The better way is using the Landscape Designer, there you can lower the terrain of the whole region at once (in your case lower it 20 times), save the image and import it again. To get the snow you can rise the peaks after lowering the whole terrain. -
