I think this video pretty much sums up the SimCity launch...
Sunfighter replied to Charizard's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Off topic question: How do you join a region? Everytime I join one and start a city, I get that quest to build 10 houses or something..and when it completes the game crashes to desktop.... -
Buildings in the trailer? Where are they?
Sunfighter replied to shorty2's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Its a CGI trailer, not the actual game anyways. -
City Size and multiple cities
Sunfighter replied to h0sti1e17's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion

Sunfighter replied to Catchin22's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Id like to point out my game has crashed 4 times. One time within 10 minutes of starting a city which wiped it clean. Edit: and the bug is repeatable. I cant make a new city in one area of the region because the game will just flip out and crash each time. wiping out the city. -
Tips and Information learned so far..
Sunfighter posted a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Figured this could be a tips and notes on the simulation for people to post things theyve learned so far watching the simulation in action.... ill start first... Tip: 1. Do NOT put dirt roads connecting to a Avenue close together. It will make the traffic AI angry and confused. As you can see, one side wants to turn left, and the other side wants to turn left...they end up blocking each other. And thats how you get a red traffic avenue in a town of only 2200. (FYI, this road stayed blocked for a day+ as traffic just stood there going one car and a time after I guess a timer of some sort just let them go regardless of traffic) Problem was only resolved after upgrading the roads to HIGH density (expensive) to give streetlights. -

I tabbed out of my city and had simcity crash, but the game saved the city thank god. Though Im not sure how often it updates, but it seemed to be current. -
Sounds like they prioritized deluxe buyers LOL

I wonder if we will get a Create a Region tool some time in the future
Sunfighter replied to niac123's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I dont see how its possible considering all cities and regions are saved server side. -
Simcity reviews are in: the embargo is lifted!
Sunfighter replied to Xenocity's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Total Biscuit and his wife has an hour and 20 minute review/talk about of Simcity up. Though only 360P right now, gonna take a while to get higher resolutions. around the 44-45 minute mark his nuclear reactor meltdown...which ironically is just a puff of smoke and seemed to have little to not effect on the city other than the buildings next door going abandoned. It happens again a few minutes later. -

Why is it your header includes all reviews giving massively positive scores, & ignoring any that disagree. Its called confirmation bias. -
Cannot Wait Until Tuesday SimCity (JUMPING AND DANCING IN EXCITEMENT!)
Sunfighter replied to GridSpeed's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The leaderboard standardization stops that from being available. Same reason why the maps are all the same size. -
Simcity reviews are in: the embargo is lifted!
Sunfighter replied to Xenocity's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I did notice what they noticed, the game is slow to react to changes, so youll have complaints for a long time after you fixed something...and accidently over commit thinking the problem is continuing when it just hasnt cleared up yet. I noticed that in TBs livestream, he didnt have garbage collection for a long time, he waited till the town started to complain before he placed one. Logical really, but that means the whole town needed trash pick up. His 2 trash trucks were actually enough, but they had a large backlog to deal with first...so the complaints continued long after he placed the garbage dump...so he thought he was having troubles...and he overreacted by placing I think 10 trucks worth edits to the garbage dump....a half hour later or so, he clicks the dump.and you notice that most the city is now clear of garbage....the few spots left...had like 6 garbage trucks all blocking traffic all going for the same area to pick up.... So yea..thats one thing i noticed and will have to keep in mind......wait...and dont overreact to problems if they dont clear up right away. -

This is why they hate the game: Towns too small A system of roads ultra painful (they hate the road system) Unable to select the direction of a building Too frequent disasters AI sometimes calamitous Many inconsistencies Lack of explanation for the uninitiated Often cities again, this is not great (this I do't understand) No metro (Subway) Yeah they don't like the game because it is too American. Where do you come to the conclusion that any of that is American only stuff? -
What's the first city you'll build?

I think they overstate the amount industry pollutes IMHO. -
Worth Pre-Ordering the Limited/Deluxe Edition?
Sunfighter replied to cubercaleb's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
No sense in buying the Deluxe as all it adds is the building packs, and they will sell those as DLC sooner or later. So unless you MUST have those packs, no sense in paying the extra 20 as youll probably end up getting those packs cheaper during a DLC sale sometime in the future. -
Discussion about City Tile Size
Sunfighter replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
No, No, they said theyd like to implement them, but its not a definite. Lets be honest here, the maps are tiny and the same size because they want to force specialization which is their thing for this game... and have an even ground for leaderboards and the like.- 1,284 Replies

SimCity (2013) Videos, Streams, 'Let's Plays', Etc.
Sunfighter replied to Haljackey's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I watched that one last night live. Pretty good from a perspective of somebody that hasnt played before. He made several mistakes it looked like to me... Kinda curious that near the end of the stream he was able to get The Trade, Ore and Oil HQ buildings....thats quite a lot of stuff. Id imagine a well planned player could do it even faster..which is somewhat concerning.- 14 Replies

The problem is the glassbox
Sunfighter replied to Camlon's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I like the addition of trash, though I havent looked at it closely, housing needing pick ups daily would be kinda weird. Water and Sewer along roadways makes sense because thats generally how it is here in the states in built up neighborhoods with water and sewer lines following the roadways. power lines generally arnt though. -
1 city at a time or multiple?
Sunfighter replied to paragouldgamer's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
you can build all cityhall upgrades in one city... I think its you can only pick one per upgrade of city hall..so yea you could in theory build them all over time...but not right away.. -
1 city at a time or multiple?
Sunfighter replied to paragouldgamer's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The game pretty much demands multiple cities with the unlocks system. Otherwise if you didnt pick wisely with your city hall upgrades, you get stuck with some bad things like sewer outflow pipes instead of water treatment plants..etc etc.. -
SimCity single core rumour - not true!
Sunfighter replied to SirChick's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
Does he really have an octocore machine or a quad core with hyperthreading? -
The problem is the glassbox
Sunfighter replied to Camlon's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I like the glassbox engine in the simulations it can do. Though I think the traffic system is messed up, ive seen too many videos with multiple lanes turning left down one lane roads and such..and various other quirks creating huge traffic problems........ and the scaling issues are terrible..........I just think their arbitrary decision to "standardize" the game to the lowest common denominator (aka a 3-4 year old notebook according to maxis) was a very stupid and cheap thing to do on a game that demands a 59.99 price tag. -

Sunfighter replied to The_City_Builder's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Man, so many of you dudes with your clean and educated stuff are gonna be paying out the nose for basic resources if they do the economy right.....I doubt they will..but still.. -
Maxis info misleading; scale of plopables is large
Sunfighter replied to William Gates's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
In the New Simcity Sears Tower is 34 floors. In the real world its 108 floors. In SC4...sears tower was.....108 floors. Real World: Simcity 4: New Simcity: So dont tell me the scales in Simcity are more realistic...cause thats bollocks.- 46 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
Sunfighter replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Just going up to 3x3 is MORE than doubling the land area, and exponentially increases the number of agents. Considering their target was a 3-4 year old laptop, a modern desktop could handle that pretty easy. In all honesty, the devs are at fault here for not designing a flexible PC game instead they designed one for the lowest common denominator and to hell with anybody else that has anything better. Thats cheapness on a title they demand 60 bucks for IMHO.- 1,284 Replies
