This is Government Island and I've quickly put together a map to show you where it is in Cork. Here is a look at the main buildings on the Island. A closer look at a few of my favourite buildings in the area. Heres a mosaic of the island, sorry if its not any good, its the first time I've tried to make one. Finally a night shot showing the edges of the Island and the commercial district.

Thats a huge update, but its still great. You have such a rich variety of custom content, alot of it I don't reconise!

Just a quick preview of what I'm currently working on.

penguin007 - Thank you, yes nightlights are great apart from when you have a few buildings that won't light up. KingTitan - I do prefer the new style of editing, brings out the colours more. Time for an update, this time we will be filling the gaps between the suburban town of Pewsley and the new port. and heres an overview of the development so far on the port. Time for another update, yes thats like two in 24 hours, woo. I realise I haven't done many maps so its a bit confusing to realise where all these places are in Cork. So I quickly drew one up showing the new port. Here is a photo I forgot to show in the last update. So heres the oil refinery. Which is a lot bigger than the one in the old port. And finally the warehouses from the other angle. The rest of the port hasn't finsihed developing yet, so we may revisit it in the future.

Ace_F15 - I am delighted that this is one of your favourites. ky72x - I'm not very good with highway interchanges, I'm glad your liking Cork. psander5 - thank you, the shopping centre is based loosely off my local. archesrule29 - I'm glad you think its realistic, I'm sure we can sort you out a house somewhere Now, time for an update. I couple of updates bakc I showed you the industrial port. The mayor of Cork noticed that the small oil refinerey and the containers needed to be expanded, as they could not cope with demand. Plans were drawn up to build a new port and refinerey to the west of Cork. The plans also included an expansion of the commercial area. Many new skyscrpaers were built in this area, this is one of my favourites. A new shopping centre was also built. All of this overlooked onto the new industrial port, perhaps not the most beatiful view ever but atleast the men in suits could see their workers sweating away from the computer chair. Thank you for your comments, I will reply to them later Pewsley is located on Delta Hill, this height advantage gives residents an excellent view of Corks skyscrapers and the sea. The area was just forest until the development of the railway and later the buidling of Corks motorways, which allowed suburbs to form across the region. In the centre of the town is the shopping centre. The development continues across the motorway and forest.

Replies stratusmonkey - hmmm, I think I over did the effects on the university looking back. Thank you for your comment! fabsies55 - I did need some night shots, but before I couldn't get it to work. I didn't want to go too OTT with the skyscrapers, as I don't want Cork to look too much like a Dubai. I appreciate your comments and advice though. edmonton_stinks - Thank you again for commenting. Of course not all the residentials are owned by the univeristy but there are certainly alot of places for students to live. Moving away from the hi-rises, here is a teaser of the suburban town of Pewsley just outside Cork centre.

Good start, loving the development along the highway. Not sure about that avenue in the second to last picture, that would be a nightmare to drive on

I hadn't shown nighlights pictures before, becasue well I couldn't get them working, but I spent last night fixing them and thought I would show you some of the areas at night.

Very nice British look you have here, will be nice to see when the zones have developed.

Your suburbs look great! Your nearly there with the downtowns, perhaps have a few more mid-rises to separate the skyscrapers to the suburb like areas. A bit more custom content in the mid-rises would also be good and keep on top of those dependencies, but this is a excellent start!

The univeristy is located across the river to the commercial dsitrict. The area is a mixture of old buildings and new hi-rise development. In the centre of the area is the historic station. The university specialises in Science and Sport. The picture below shows the science department, with excellent teaching and good links to industry, the department attracts students from across the globe. Here is an overview of the main university area.

Nemesis666 - I turn some of the options off whilst building and forgot to put them back on when taking pictures, doh! tigerplayer91 - Thank you, again I'm happy that people think its realistic. ky72x - Thanks alot for your comment, I do like to keep the buildings different for a bit of realism. edmonton_stinks - It does look green for an indstrial area, but in Cork we like our trees. Time for an update and this time we will be moving back to the commerical area and a closer look at some of the skyscrapers. Now a look at the recent development along the river During the nineteenth century the railway helped change Cork into an industrial powerhouse. On this spot there were large railyards and factories, today only one of the sheds remain and has been converted into the Cork Railway Museum.

Update time, this time I'll be showing the industrial areas on both sides of the river. The picture below shows the main container port, both importing goods from far away factories and exporting products the products that have been manufactured in Cork. However the manufacturing industry has declined in Cork over the latter half of the 20th century as companies looked to countries with cheaper wages. Today Cork's industry is mainly hi-tech. But to this day a few of the large, dirty factories that transformed the region still remain in Cork. The picture below shows a small oil refinery, which is set to be expanded to meet the increasing demand of oil, in Cork and around the world.

You can find the stadium by searching dmscopio on the STEX, the download is in two parts. tankmank - I'm glad you like the city and thank you for your comment. panthersimcity4 - I love the HK stuff on the STEX they just had to be included! edmonton_stinks - Yeah you're right, I was looking at a few pictures of Chinese cities the other day and noticed how the highrises just repeated each other just like in sim city! tigerplayer91 - I love that stadium too, probably my favourite on sim city and there are alot of good ones! penguin007 - Hopefully this CJ does these great skyscrapers justice! jacqulina - Thank you for your comement and I'm glad you like the city. Thank you for your comments, now time for an update. We are moving back across the motorway into the centre of Cork city. Emerald Tower marks the commercial centre, while its not the tallest tower and has a simple shape, it has become the landmark of Cork. Hi-rise offices and hotels looking out onto the Atlantic Ocean.

Right, so in this update we're hopping across the motorway, to the largest stadium in Cork and its surrounding hi-rise development. The picture below shows a statue to Cork F.C's greatest manager. Haven't quite finsihed some of the areas in this photos, hence some repetition.
