I'm subscribed... I love recreations, planning on doing one myself. Can't wait to see what you can do.

Why are the pools in the front yards?

Nice flags, I'm gonna have to check out that tutorial.

So's, I figured since I'm making some stuff that I'd post it here as I'm working on it in order to get some constructive feedback on my efforts. I've done CG in Lightwave for some time, and I've used 3ds Max a couple of times back in the 4.2 days but I've never used gmax. So my first BAT was a recreation of the Big House in the Fort Langley National Historic Site in British Columbia. Obviously a grab of it from the LOT editor... it works in game and lights up at night so I'm happy with it... it's set up as a museum. The one I'm working on now is Top Notch Hamburgers in Austin Texas, it was also seen in the movie Dazed and Confused. So far I've got the car cover area done and I'm working on making the Fried Chicken sign light up at night but so far I've had no luck with that. I'll post more progress later.

Thanks zahrul3... I'm making textures for the thing now, I want to make my own props for it though, just so I get some practice making that sort of thing as well. But I'll keep the McMansion Essentials in mind in case I get fed up with making my own stuff.

Nice work, I might have to start making western Canadian road signs soon after I finish my bat learnings and jump in here.

I'm still doing some batting, I got 3ds Max on here with Bat4Max... Here's my first attempt at making a house in 3ds Max, I'm still pretty busy with non-computery things to do though so I've only got about an hours work on it.

What Made 400 People Volunteer for a One-Way Mission to Mars?
NitzWalsh replied to Adrianor's topic in Current Events
I would go there... be a pioneer... If 400 people went to Mars and settled it permanently, that number would grow through reproduction, and surely other groups of people would follow from Earth. -
Haven't had much time to work on this one, but I've managed to get the signs almost all up and I've started on some roof details...

I like that idea, thanks thingfishs... I'll give it a try when I get a chance to do some more work on this... Right now I'm dejunking my apartment in preparations for moving.

I think I'm getting better at the non-tiled textures. I think I've just been trying to do things they way it's done in Lightwave... I'm moving pretty soon otherwise I'd probably be getting stuff done a lot quicker on this... Anyway... here's the progress I've made on the Top Notch Hamburgers in Austin, Texas... my references are Google Earth and the movie Dazed and Confused as I've never actually been to Texas.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out that... making non-tiling textures cover the whole object, but so far the tutorials I've gone through haven't covered that kind of thing.

Thanks, texturing is the area I've always needed to work the most on... was thinking I'd detail it more on the modeling end and less on the texturing end... I've had some trouble getting the maps to unwrap properly. I tried the nite prefix on the sign, it didn't look like I wanted it to look, but I have some ideas for fixing that. I looked into the max for students thing already, I'm not a student though and don't feel like fooling the thing to get it.

Unable to create smooth 45/90 corners using RHW
NitzWalsh replied to Manick2005's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I love the song in that video... I'm hoping diagonals for some of those get done some time, I love the TLA-5 and a few other ones... they look the most like the arteries in the town I live in. -
I'm still working on it in Terraformer and haven't even opened it in game yet. A lot of the land in the area is so close to sea level, some even below sea level, so when I edited the DEM files into grayscale images and then loaded it into Terraformer it thought a lot of the land area was under water... and obviously the mountain tops have been chopped off, so I'm going to edit those areas to have a more mountain range look to them. The area is Metro Vancouver in B.C., Canada... most of it anyway, I cut off a bit in the north. I was just going to make a small portion of the area rather than the entire thing, but I decided I'd go ahead and make this... it's 75 km from East to West and 60 km from North to South.

I've just been playing around with DAT Packer to see if it's something I want to be using, it does speed things up as far as I can tell, but I've had some stuff vanish or come up with one of those boxes in game since using it that I didn't have that problem with before. I had to re-pack some bus stops a few times because they keep vanishing.

Hello, I'm new here, felt like I should make myself known here before I start posting in other threads. I just got SimCity 4 a week ago... I started playing some city game on Facebook and thinking, I'd rather play SimCity, so I went out and bought the SimCity box and love SimCity 4, I did some searching online and found this place and a few others with extra player made content... so that made me happy. I've started downloading various items that'll help me with my project... I'm making Vancouver BC... heheh... just started though, so it's nothing special yet, I'll probably drop something in the City Journal section for it.
