I have two more years, out of a five year program. Two years is nothing, really. Before I entered the architecture program, I took some other classes (Core curriculum, etc) at a community college. With the 4th and 5th years of the program, you have opportunities to do study abroad and or travel to various exotic destinations for the studio projects. Even last semester, we took a short trip to San Francisco to look at a couple of projects (California Academy of Sciences by Renzo Piano, DeYoung Collection by Herzog & DeMeuron, etc) that were appropriate for our curriculum. Now, before the fall semester begins, I actually have a week and a half expedition to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, which combines elements of danger with a unique urban (and political, and everything else) history. Oh and yeah, I heard that Tel Aviv is quite the party town...so l'chaim!

Yeah, it never is the same....memories are constructs in our memory of ideas and experiences gathered through the years. Over time, bits and pieces of them are replaced, or lost. This is why nostalgic events in dreams or stories told are always off; sometimes, you can't quite put your finger on it, but something has changed. Of course, there's also the point when you have to leave home for a while, and you change alongside the place you used to frequent; this causes a sense of conflict and even dissonance upon one's return. The presence of strong reminders, artifacts, and remnants of the past seem like a mirage, or an untouchable, unalterable portal into the past. But alas; one can't always reconnect, particularly if any sort of connection was never maintained between the parties involved. There have been multiple times that I wanted to reconnect, but I just wasn't able to do it, for many reasons (time constraints, lack of connection to newcomers, other people I once knew who moved on, etc). As for uni/university, it is just such a large part of my life, particularly since I went with an architecture major. The effort one has to put into it is all-encompassing, which may result in the detriment of one's health, social life, and participation in hobbies. In the process, new social connections and interactions are made, and many skills are sharpened and acquired, but at what cost? It may be a temporary phase in life, but the aftermath will affect the outcomes for pretty much the rest of one's life. And of course, perspectives also change...things that were once at the front of my mind are no longer an issue. Things I once enjoyed were eschewed due to their diminishing meaning, and the need to nurture various skills required to finish the assignments and projects. But once the projects are done, the outcome is an excellent testament to this hard work, and sacrifice. Do I regret this? Maybe I do, maybe I don't, but it is still a thought of contention.

DT, have you become the man who never returned? Well, you know...real life and all that stuff happens, and you can never go home again. At least I'm almost done with uni!

The funny pages in the paper are no longer exclusively for the kids anymore. Most of them are aimed at the teens of the nation, while others fill in several niches. So anyway, what is your favorite comic strip? (comic books such as superman do not count!) Mine is probably Foxtrot

Most excellent work! I don't have much else to add, since the folks above have pretty much covered everything. I wonder what else you're gonna do, eh?

The biggest failure? The fact that it did not even remotely live up to the hype. Everyone, say hello to City Life II! SC4, Forevermore!

Is it just me, or does anyone else find that SCURK sounds like a dirty word of some sort?

Pretty much anything by the holy trinity of deconstructivism; Coop Himmelblau, Rem Koolhaas/OMA, and Morphosis/Thom Mayne.

I have installed everything, and it seems to be right, but for some odd reason, I keep getting an "invalid characters" message when I attempt to login when the launch window pops up. I tried entering both the password for my account on their site, as well as the key, and neither work. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Disregard....works now. It was probably a server related issue..

40th Anniversary of 1st Moon Landing

Even Mythbusters proved that to be a fact, if I am not mistaken. -
Originally posted by: bixel oh? whats this? DuskTrooper is gonna dust off his 3DS Max and make some wonderful buildings???quote> Yeah, I was exceptionallyy busy with my architecture schooling; I could not do anything SC4 related for approximately a year; the last time I exported a scene was about April 2008! There was actually a nice run of small models back then consisting of experimental W2W housing, which came to an abrupt halt when I decided to brush up a bit on my real media rendering skills. This of course came in handy in my architecture classes, where they still rely on good ol' pen, paper, chipboard, and crafting wood when it comes to making projects. I actually took up a decent 3D Studio class this previous semester, and was able to use it for my final project(which I totally knocked out of the ballpark, if I may say so myself ). I'm a tad rusty when it comes to making models in XYZ space, but I definitely want to take it up again this summer (if I could give myself a kick in the butt for being lazy...lol). I am so far out of the loop that it is ridiculous. *Methinks I should post about my absence in another thread somewhere....*
