Simtropolis interview with Maxis Part 2 - Ocean Quigley
Bookitty commented on Dirktator's article in News
No subways is a rather massive omission I think, or at least it would be if the cities could actually grow to the size where you'd need them. I suppose your right in that regard. I can't wait for this whole thing to blow over so we can all get back to SC4. Never had subways work for me… I’ve purchased 2 copies of SimCity 4 over the years. When I use the “query tool” to see the capacity usage, it always showed 0% passenger usage. Paid city income for a service that never worked; glad I won’t have to be dealing with those again in this new version! -
I’ll give the same pathetic answer you give everybody else… I really don’t care what you think.
-
There must be some truth in what I just said, because it bothered you. If there’s no consequce, then why bother coming after me? Maybe you need to sit down and think for a second that you voice may have already gone unheard, because this game is going to happen; even you like it or not. You know what... Just forget what I said, no matter what I say, you probably won’t shut up.

Simcity 4 isnt that great...
Bookitty replied to patpatty45's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
A topic like this in the "hives nest" where they all come from!? If you want a true opinion of the game, I would suggest you try a different website. This will end in a flame war... -

SimCity Developers' Reddit AMA Swiftly Turns Into WTF With The Online-Only DRM?
Bookitty commented on Freddyeddy's article in News
I’ll clarify just a little… It doesn’t matter what your financial, well-being, or any other sort of position you have. It’s people who want to steal, doesn’t matter what your position is; anybody can steal! But lately, it seems everyone is talking about money, not wasting money, spend money here! Lose some of it here; people are OBSESSED with money. No matter if it’s the gain side, or the losing side, it’s coming from all parties. Also, related to privacy, if you’re not like a Facebook user who tells their whole life story, businesses will have a hard time tracking you; even Google spams advertisements based on what you have searched! I’ll clarify just a little… It doesn’t matter what your financial, well-being, or any other sort of position you have. It’s people who want to steal, doesn’t matter what your position is; anybody can steal! But lately, it seems everyone is talking about money, not wasting money, spend money here! SimCity Developers' Reddit AMA Swiftly Turns Into WTF With The Online-Only DRM?
Bookitty commented on Freddyeddy's article in News
DRM… Never encountered a problem; never had a problem. Security protection software was in the industry years before it ever came to the game market. Now that developers are using it now, the little kiddys are whining about how they can’t pirate junk anymore. Hey, once you GET A JOB, then you can afford to buy software. -
Now you know the giant problem game servers like Diablo 3, EA, and Ubisoft all have in common. The more people play online, the more overload there is… I see no point why some individuals nag game developers about this problem, when so much data/bytes are processed on servers; this problem is almost inevitable!

I don't think developers make games for people in mud huts: LOL! But of course this is obvious in western civilizations.
-
But I think those layers would have to be running in the background all the time to keep up with the simulation. Maybe that's why Maxis is saying they would have to simulate the cities in real time. I guess that settles it...

It's called DEBUG mode (closely related to God mode/cheats.), stats don't matter, especially when they are purposely setting up situations to show off certain features. Watching every little aspect in this video might be over analyzing? Anyway, I don’t know if anybody is aware on how the in-game economy works, or how skyscrapers grow. Density is controlled by roads now, not population anymore… http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/road-to-SimCity-success-blog That gives the option to control density without the reference to city size. For example: 1. You could have a city of 200,000 people, but all the buildings are small 1 story houses. Or... 2. Have a population of 5,000, and then have giant skyscrapers. These options could go either way. Dont' forget the strange monster thing from the E3 video. There are so inconsistent is because it's DEBUG MODE.

The ORIGINAL studio that created them all except for Societies… The MAXIS studio from the very beginning, the same people who made Simcity 3000, Simcity 2000 and Simcity 4, are making this new game: is not a true successor? Can somebody explain this for me?

A game that looks better than Sim City 2013, Emergency 2013
Bookitty replied to nicoliani's topic in Gaming Talk
That's what city games are about, building towns/cities than taxing the citizens. duh... -
Some of the best information is mentioned on these articles from the insider. No one thinks these articles are worth reading. Instead, they run off to some 3rd party website to get their information, when they should be heading straight to the source.

Ah, thank you! Don’t have to build those things anymore! Now, water pipes are built for me. Farms were cool and all... But, what does it have to do with CITY simulation. Some users made fun of the small towns by calling it "Farmville". When Farmville was in Simcity 4 in the first place; you can zone as much as you please. They probably didn't add them because they wanted to focus on city simulating instead of farm simulating. Of course you don't have to build towns; you can do any sized city in the game. (Referring to style, not map size)

I didn't mean to offend/irritate you. It's pathetic people are looking up EA's quarterly financial reports and making assumptions, not just here, but everywhere. The supposed "mobile" device could be anything, from a phone to a tablet. The new tablets are extremely powerful; check this one out, the world’s first quad-core tablet by ASUS. http://www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-asus.html If the company is looking for a mobile SimCity counterpart, it must mean that the device there making it for is powerful enough.
-
Bipin, that's why you have no clue about technology. It's not the 3D engine, but the limited controls on the phone itself.

A detail you'll never see, it's UNDERGROUND! As every game now...

Discussion about City Tile Size
Bookitty replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You don't need to get "smart", if you know what I mean? But SimCity would be growth stages, different than those from spore. I didn't say to have a direct copy, but something influenced by it. All the developers have already said Spore was an inspiration for this game. So, it wouldn't be a bad idea to think some parts of this game are Spore inspired. That's why I compare the two, Almost every Sim game Maxis has made are all in this one game. I don't want to sound like speculation, but I'm just trying to “interpret” what information we have seen.- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
Bookitty replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The giant circular building in the upper right corner "is" the sports complex. And for me (a so called core fan), Tile size won't be a problem. They may be doing stages like Spore. Your city travels through different stages of growth, with new challenges and opportunities for expansions at each stage. Maybe there are such large open spaces between the cities to make room for borderline expansion in each stage of growth?- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
Bookitty replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Glassbox engine may allow any shape imaginable. It allows curved roads in any direction you want, bridges can be stack on top of each other. Good for future modding capabilities. Another interesting quote... I wonder what he means by “formerly”. Also, If it was population density, how would it fix highway and airport congestion? http://www.simcity.com/en_US/insider/blog/article/how-it-works-%28great%29-international-airport%20%20- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
Bookitty replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
And it's "ambiguous" to say it's population density (No offensive to anyone). I guess why I bring it up because... If your roads and highways are crowded, the airport is over capacity, where else are you going to expand? It's interesting he calls one item an attraction, when I think of something like that, Stadiums and casinos come to mind. If there "full", like what the article says, How would you build more to support the tourists, one way is out and not up. They may be doing stages like Spore. Your city travels through different stages of growth, with new challenges and opportunities for expansions at each stage. Maybe there are such large open spaces between the cities to make room for borderline expansion in each stage of growth? It "might" be possible? The Glassbox engine makes this game almost freeform; I wouldn't see why not tiles could be curved in some areas. Now, it's not a tile anymore, but a free forming boarder line.- 1,284 Replies

Do you find it strange that for simcity beta sign up they removed dxdiag report upload requirment?
Bookitty replied to kwetzel345's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
They probably gathered enough computer specs required for what they need to do. So, they may not need anymore. Edit: Dxdiag just shows computer specifications, helps developers know what type of computers their working with.
