I had a very similar problem. After putting the files on my pc, its like my CD broke. I had to get a new cd key! Try cleaning the cd really good, and wipe all the sc4 files off your pc. reboot it, and try to install it then.

My desktop runs Xp, my laptop runs Vista, and my dad's (even though I'm not allowed on it) runs W7. Most modding programs work better with XP, so I do all my modding my my desktop, but it has a slow cpu( 1.6ghz) so I switched to my laptop (2.0ghz) and play on it.

Well Like Mule said, I want to keep MS for three reasons: 1, I like it. 2.My family wouldnt like learning a new OS like me or my dad would. and 3, my games and programs that wont run on it. I burned Ubuntu again, and this time when installing, it says it cant find a file, and that it cant/wasnt installed. I wiped my desktop, and im wiping my laptop later as soon as i can get every thing off (this is very fun as im using DOS and the 'install other drivers' tab on the Vista repair CD to copy every thing to my flash drives[ one copies on the fixed pc, while the other one copies on the broken laptop, then i switch and do it again] so i'll have both fixed by the end of the night. Thanks for the help.
